Fast and the Furious 9: The Fast Saga

This starts dropping in cinemas 2 days from now (in some countries).

To those who see it first, will someone please put in spoiler tags how Han is explained to be alive :funny:
You serious? Wow

Yikes! I know RMB in particular is a big fa of these movies.

But at the same time...I mean, look these movies are what they are. I'm going in expecting an absolutely ridiculous, over-the-top, physics and reality defying action film.

I'm worried that what Campea feels is what I will feel, simply because it's what I think every time a I see the trailer. I just keep thinking "they're over doing it now." Like Fast Five for example is nuts but it "felt" legit. It also helped that it seems to have more practical work on the set pieces than the last few.

I watch John Campea's show for RMB, who is usually positive about a lot of these projects (in fact has said that he will get Hot Toys for Black Widow, Shang Chi and Eternals characters when those movies come out). So him being negative about the 9th movie isn't a good sign.

He couldn't say more than reading his tweets due to the embargo, but he was shaking his head a lot when John was talking about it on Campea's show.

Fate and the Furious (#8) was pretty bad to begin with, so how much worse could this be?

I can see why it would be worse. They are buying into their own hype and just making it crazier to be crazier and losing sight of everything else. I hated F8. Charlize was asleep half the movie and the nuclear sub thing was so dumb.

It’s like the opposite of what Marvel did with Infinity War and Endgame. They made these huge crazy movies but didn’t lose sight of the characters or the core of their franchise.

Yeah this series seems to think that if Dom says some bull**** about “family” every 20 minutes, Roman and Tej bicker a bit and Letty screams “Dom!” then they’ve ticked all the character boxes for each of these movies and the rest of it can just be implausible car stunt insanity.

So in the Fast and Furious Universe Natalie Emmanuel is the only black woman with a significant role. How is that possible? There are more black women in the MCU then there is in a franchise like this that claims diversity. The MCU has the likes of Tessa Thompson, Teyonah Parris, Zoe Saldana, Angela Bassett, Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong'o, Danai Gurira and Florence Kasumba appearing in multiple MCU projects with Dominique Thorne, Lauren Ridloff and Gugu Mbatha Raw upcoming. And all the Fast and Furious franchise comes up with is Natalie Emmanuel?

I guess I shoudln't be surprised by the mixed reactions since this franchise has been getting more and more ridiclous after each movie and while a part of me does wish they would go back to the over the topness of Fast Five or Furious 6 atleast they are starting to embrace what they are now.

Now I can understand why that would be a good thing for some or a bad thing for others, but it is what it is at this point and I definitely wasnt expecting anything resembling realism after seeing those trailers, especially that last one. As long as I'm having a good, fun, dumb time watching it I'm not complaining.

I have a feeling that the positive reviews were from critics who were just so happy to get to watch a new blockbuster in a theater that they overlooked all of the ridiculous elements.

Overall they're good on the cast diversity, one of the few franchises to embrace it early on I feel. The MCU was pretty terrible with it to start honestly, and don't get me started on the X-Men franchise by comparison.

I feel like everyone makes the same jokes (including me) about going into space or fighting dinosaurs, and then they actually do it, shows there's a reason why fan service isn't always a good idea.

Don't give them any ideas!

Ludacris- I was experimenting with military grade NOS and I found myself in another dimension

Roman- The quantum realm?

*Everyone looks at Roman*
