Fast and the Furious 9: The Fast Saga

He couldn't say more than reading his tweets due to the embargo, but he was shaking his head a lot when John was talking about it on Campea's show.

Adding to this, he went off a little more on it today. Said the complete ignorance of any semblance of reality in this ruins the movie completely.

It's not a good sign if Robert Meyer Burnett, who loves the franchise, says something bad about the movie. He's usually a bit more positive about movies and TV shows than Campea is, so when he says something negative about a movie or TV show, that's not a good sign.

Guess he missed the last movie.

No, he brought up some rope bridge scene as something like he hoped wouldn't happen again, too unrealistic etc.

By the way, embargos will end next Tuesday already so they can talk about it in detail on the show then.

If all he mentioned was a rope bridge scene as being "unrealistic" then he still must've missed 90% of the rest of the movie.

Including maybe one of the worst scenes in the entire franchise.

I couldn't watch these after the first one so I can't really comment on that but by all accounts, they REALLY jumped the shark in this one.

Yeah I’m skipping this one. Sounds like they increased the stupidity factor too much and it’s more like F8 than F5 or F6. Plus based on the spoilers I’ve read, how they bring back Han is really stupid.

I don’t get why we have to wait a whole month to see this. I want it now

I just read the spoilers and well...I don't know what to make if it.

Definitely not seeing this in theaters. Just waiting for the next one where they get superpowers.

Will this be out on video 45 days after the theaters?

Just saw this on Reddit.

Now this I would watch.

That's why I can't take Hollywood seriously when they get political. They railed against too many white male reporters, but bow down to a dictatorship.

"They" did not rail against too many white male reporters. That was Brie Larson, who has never stopped receiving misogynistic abuse for her (misinterpreted) comments. Cena has never spoken out on that issue. So you are basically attributing remarks made by one actress (who has never commented publicly on China) to every single person in the movie business.

Stop portraying everything you don't like as a monolith. Especially, since you would probably regard many of those "white male reporters" to be part of the very decadent and corrupt side of Hollywood you claim to despise.

I saw the movie yesterday. Is it dumb? Yup. Did I have fun? Yes.

Like it's hard to explain. I don't have fun watching Transformers or Michael Bay movies, but at least, I generally kind of like the characters in these films. So at least the characters are likable.

A few things:

* The way they explain Dom and Jacob's familial relationship was so ridiculous. Poor Charlize Theron is the one to do it. But you know what? Theron actually does it with a straight face. It's still ridiculous, but it's one of the funniest/worst lines in the movie.
* Cipher is taking a backseat most of the movie sadly.
* I think there's too many characters/subplots in this film and they couldn't bring it all together. I think in past films they did a better job of this.
* If you are a fan of this franchise, there are some nice callbacks to characters from the earlier films, even visual payoffs to things that were setup back in Fast 4 in 2009.
* For all the movie's machismo and explosive bluster, it does attempt some character building and drama that does feel genuine and sincere. IMHO Vin Diesel has always had this weird charisma and unique machismo that's very appealing.
* They do bring Mia back and actually give her some things to do.
* Sorry, but Han coming back was garbage and what they do with him doesn't justify his return appearance.
* There is no justice for Han. Justice for Han was about the fans who liked Han as a character and weren't satisfied with how they dealt with suddenly turning Shaw into a hero after willfully murdering one of the group. Not to mention, after they did a whole movie about you know bringing down the guy who murdered one of the family, pretty much no one mentions Han at all or anything in the next movie. Essentially, Shaw is never made to answer for Han's murder. This was nothing more than a cheap, dumb way to absolve Shaw.
* The way Han's return is explained is dumb and pointless. Han adds very little to the movie at all. His subplot could've been easily cut and the movie would've lost nothing.
* Next thing you know, Cipher is going to break good and become a good guy. #JUSTICE4ELENA!

Sounds good to me honestly and about what I expected from this franchise at this point. As long as I can get some fumb fun out of it cool, although it does suck hearing that Theron is pretty much wasted once again in these movies and that they couldn't come up with a good enough reason to bring back Han.

Sometimes, a stupid movie just clicks with your wavelength.
