Fast and the Furious 9: The Fast Saga

With no plans to watch the movie at all, how did Han come back?

With no plans to watch the movie at all, how did Han come back?
He was Tokyo Batman for Mr. Nobody and somehow Mr. Nobody knew that Shaw somehow infiltrated a big race between Han and that ******* from ‘Tokyo Drift’ using…

- holograms or
- at least a really quick swap out or
- a remote controlled car / explosion

…to in fact fake his death so he could do more Batman missions. I don’t know and I don’t think care to know. They just wanted to retcon Han’s “death” and to make the whole “Shaw is part of the family now” more appetizing.

This franchise has to be connected to Highlander. I mean, two people have "come back from the dead" Dom has been shot, crashed, fallen from heights and taken hits that would kill any normal man. Clearly...... he is immortal.......

"Here we are..... Born to be kings.... We are the princes of the universsssssssseeeee"

It's a 2 hour war on physics and the durability of the human anatomy! :funny: Dom gets a Batcave, uses cars as catchers mits, pinball flippers and projectiles, oh, and he pulls a building down with 2 giant chains, is Vin head writer as well now? Tej and Roman in space......well they listened to what some fans wanted I guess.

It's funny having watched the first movie on Sunday where it's street racing, running a garage and jacking trucks for DVD players it's insane to see these guys getting an encrypted spy message like they are IMF to set them on their latest mission to stop a world threatening high tech threat, and all of them now fight and use weapons like professionals, it's like Lin started off expanding the scale by making them into a cool mobile heist team and then segued into making this his own Mission Impossible franchise.

They're tieing themselves in knots with their timeline and explaining characters existence but I thought the flashbacks they used to explain Jacob's backstory and issues with Dom were well done and Cena did fine in the role with Jacob's arc going how I expected. Of the cameos I liked Helen Mirrens the best, the scene with Dom and Queenie in the Noble M600 was a lot of fun. Charlize Theron must be loving this gig, a big cheque for 3 scenes that she probably shot in a couple of days.

The action was huge as usual, I thought the opening sequence and the finale magnet chase were the best two but I don't think either were as good as the best sequences in 5, 6, 7 and 8. The movie disengages with reality moreso than any other film in the series and I'd probably rank it 6th in the franchise overall not counting Hobbs & Shaw.

7/10

They dont even really explain how he survived the car explosion, the explanation they give is incredibly vague.

It just makes it even stupider that Han was a super spy in Tokyo Drift but hanging out with high school kids

You know what se I realized? If we are to make sense of the timeline of this series. Then that means theres a huge time gap between Furious 7 and 8/9. Furious 7 is supposed to be right after Han died in Tokyo Drift in 2006 right? So F7 takes place…2006/2007? And then I guess we should assume F8 and 9 take place present day? Was Statham locked up for 10 years? :funny::funny:

At the risk of getting flamed, did anyone else like Cole Hauser’s villain character in 2F2F?

Somewhat surprised he hasn’t made a cameo of some sort up to this point.

Yeah I liked that movie in general for what it was. I enjoyed it more than F8. I remember at the time reading reviews of how a car jumping onto a boat was unrealistic and took you out of the movie. Little did we know…

Honestly rewatching Fast Five and Furious 7 lately made me dislike F9 a little more, especially with how they handled the Han situation. I liked him but I rather he had stayed dead, and damn was the excuse they come up with lazy as hell.

I'll be honest that 6-9 are now a blur. Probably need to rewatch those, but I always find myself gravitating to Fast Five when I try to!
