Hollywood history has a long track record of over the top corny drama in action. Been long celebrated and is hardly new. Just one mention of the 80's, 90's...
Seems more like a throw back if anything. Still, I haven't seen it.

Yeah, I agree with your guys' story/plot criticisms. There were some characters that I thought wasn't really needed. Characters like Djimon Hounsou's character. Kurt Russell was a nice treat, but I didn't like his character that much. Honestly, I had a feeling that the movie's story was going to suffer with the tragedy of Walker, but I think the team did their best to make it work. I really wonder what the original story and script was going to be though. Like some have stated, I would have liked to see more of Dwayne Johnson, but it's understandable since he had his Hercules movie at the time since Furious 7 was originally supposed to be released summer 2014.

That's a fair point. Still, I'd say that even calling it a throwback is a bit of a reach. This movie got a little too self-serious and indulgent for it to be an homage to anything.

Just saw it and I really loved it. It was over the to but I don't care. Also those last few minutes...never thought I'd get teary-eyed in a Fast movie, but it was completely deserved.

I asked in one post, but I never saw a response. Whatever, happened to Leon? I would of thought he would of made an appearance by now?

I remember before they started filming, the director said he was going for a French Connection 70s vibe. I'm guessing the studio said they had to go bigger and louder.

Yeah, I was hoping for Leon to show up in 6 or 7, but nope... Vince came back in 5, and we can assume Jesse died on the front yawn in the first. I mean, even Hector had a short cameo in 7 at Race Wars, lol.

Who? James Wan or Justin Lin? I believe Lin dropped out of directing 8 because he didn't like how fast they wanted another movie, which was a year after 6.

He also said the story was finished with 6. But of course they'll keep making them until they stop becoming profitable.

Would be pretty gnarly if bow wow joins the team in 8.

For the people who have seen it, how is the action compared to 5 and 6? One of the things I liked the most is how long and well coreographed the set pieces are.

I'd say it's more action packed than either of them.

Yeah it's got better action than 6 but I'd say it's on the level of Fast Five.

Tyrese impressed again with the one-liners. "Double Alpha" and referencing the tank from FF6 had me dying.

Roman- Can I check my email?

I was a bit disappointed in Tony Jaa's role. I mean he did great but I was waiting for him to do one of his signature moves where he runs and jumps onto a guy's chest using a knee or both. I also really wanted to see him go at it against Hobbs or Statham

He did some parkour-ish moves in the last fight with bryan

It's filled with the long set pieces you like!

It was Wan.

I am about to see this again in like 30 mins. But can anyone confirm that Owen Shaw is dead or just crippled?

I assumed he was crippled. Deckard told the nurses to take care of him when he left the hospital room.

Also, it was weird seeing Gal Gadot's name in the opening credits and she only showed up in a photograph (not counting the tribute to Paul at the end). I was expecting a flashback or something.

Maybe they gave Gadot credit since they used footage from the previous movies, the actors have to be credited. I doubt James Wan shot any scenes with Gadot (she would've been spotted on set).

Wow, more? Really?
I'm going next week, theaters were packed this weekend. Impossible to go. It actually broke the record in the first day of release. It is officially the best opening day in the history of Argentina.

A lot of people here in the states had a three day weekend due to Good Friday, so that first day was total frontload.

Just got back, loved it. This is one of those franchises that has become SO in-tune with its audience, it delivers exactly what they want, plus some, every time (at least with every installment after the 4th one). I mean, the story and dialogue are hokey as hell, but no one in the audience cares about that - they want the crazy, insane, physics-defying action, killer stunts, awesome cars and "family" bonding - and the filmmakers know it and deliver tenfold.

But...
How did you guys feel about the amount of sexual shots of women's bodies? I thought it was a bit too much.
I do agree with this. I preferred Lin as a director for multiple reasons (I think he filmed the action a little better too), and this was one of them. Sure, Lin had his T&A shots in his installments, but Wan went into full-MTV Spring Break mode here, lol.

Still, overall a great ride yet again, and a perfect send-off for Paul Walker. 8/10.

Ha! I had forgotten about that one.

If I recall, he did the double knee move to knock Brian through the door and down the steps.

I really enjoyed this one. It was just so fun. Tyrese was hilarious. Loved all the jokes. There were some small things that I also loved such as
Hobbs having a daughter or Dom and Letty were actually married
The music and locations were amazing. And last but not least, the ending with the Paul tribute was amazing. It was sad but very fitting. Overall, I really enjoyed this movie and I don't care about the lack of plot/story.

My favorite little part of the movie was that [BLACKOUT]Hector[/BLACKOUT] showed up at race wars.
