I enjoyed the score from part 1 the best.

Same here. I listen to it more than any other score in the franchise. Y'all want to rank scores?

Score (Favorite to least)

Deathly Hallows Part 1 - Alexandre Desplat
Philosopher's Stone - John Williams
Prisoner of Azkaban - John Williams
Deathly Hallows Part 2 - Alexandre Desplat
Chamber of Secrets - John Williams
Goblet of Fire - Patrick Doyle
Half-Blood Prince - Nicholas Hooper
Order of the Phoenix - Nicholas Hooper

Don't forget ROTS, as well. 2005 was a busy year for Williams.

Oh yeah that one too.

Nice!:) But why is HBP the book in there instead of the movie?

I had those, and I love how it looks like a bookset. But I just got the Hogwarts set instead.

John Williams didn't really score CoS. It is actually quite an interesting situation.

In terms of ranking, I'd go:

PoA
SS
OotP
Part 1
CoS
HBP
GoF
Part 2

I know. William Ross adapted and conducted William's work. The Fawkes theme and the Chamber theme are very nice, but the score as whole feels a bit underdeveloped. It's a bit of a Philosopher's Stone 1.5. I still consider it a William's score tho.

It's similar to how Shore handled Hobbit. He wrote the music, but Conrad Pope actually conducted and adapted the score in New Zealand, and Shore stayed in the States and helped via Skype. I assume that that's how the score for COS would have been handled had they had Skype in 2002.

Does anyone liked the 5th film? it sucked, and the book was long and boring.

The book is one of my favorite but the movie is just all right imo. It doesn't have a whole lot of plot and could use some of that 45 minutes that was left on the cutting room floor.

I love it actually. I think it is great, and only second to PoA. The last 45 mins are amazing. Plus, Wizard's duel.

The best part of The Order of the Phoenix is the last 30 minutes. Once they get to the Ministry of Magic, the film gets awesome. Well, other than Sirius Black's death scene. It always rubbed me the wrong way. The Dumbledore/Voldemort duel is so short yet so great and really adds to the mystique of their power.

As for the best, The Prisoner of Azkaban is the best and it isn't even close. Alfonso Cuarón just blows it out of the water. And John Williams' score is fantastic.

you do realize how much crap they left out of that duel, right? let alone the entire movie?

It doesn't make that duel any less awesome. Visually the battle of the elements is a lot better than Dumbledore bringing golden statues to life. And sure they aren't verbally goading each other on in the film duel, but I actually prefer the quick and dirty gunslinger style duel of the film. There is a reason that duel is considered the best one in the film series. It's genuinely ****ing awesome.

It makes me wish we could see Dumbledore's duel against Grindelwald. The books make it sound like it was one of the most awesome displays of power in wizarding history.

I absolutely hate what David Yates did with the last 4 films.
Not excited for the upcoming spin off either since he's returning for some reason,

Also, why couldn't they bring John Williams back for the later films.

Same here. OOTP was decent, but the rest, were garbage to me.

POA is definitely my favorite. When I first watched it, I actually didn't like it. Didn't like how the kids were wearing regular clothes, Malfoy didn't have his hair slicked back, and how the scenes seemed to just end instead of flowing into the next scene. But as time went on, I began to just love the atmosphere, spirit, and Harry's first ride on Buckbeak was beautiful!

Now, I'm just going to add this, I think GOF had Harry's disheveled hair correct, and it's a shame the other movies didn't follow suit.

I know how much was left out from the book. It is my second favorite book of the series. It is an adaptation, and they nailed the mood and the characters imo. Luna's conversation with Harry might be as honest as the series ever got on film.

And I would take the film duel over the book day anyday. Though I do wish they had kept in the other rooms in the department. Especially because they filmed them. A good 40 mins of the film was actually cut to get the runtime down.

I beg to differ, my good sir. The scene depicted on the damn cover of the book wasn't even included in the duel.

as a film adaptation I'd say Yates did a fine job, but he got worse and worse with each film he made. I loved the hbp book and I thought the movie left far too many things out, and added stupid pointless things.

My issue with Harry's hair in the last (two) was that in certain shots, it looked liked a mullet. Relax on the sideburns, hairdresser.

Which cover?

HBP is a poor adaptation imo, and I am not a big fan of the look of the film in general. That being said, the book isn't all that good either imo.

Doesn't Harry basically have a mullet in GoF? :funny:

HBP suffered from not telling of Voldemort's past, but some of the additions were good, IMO. Like the burning of the Burrow, and Death Eaters invading Britain. It showed that nowhere was safe. I dunno how anyone can hate what he did with DH1/2, those were (for the most part) incredibly accurate to the books.

The part I love about the Dumbledore/Voldemort duel (well, more Dumbledore as we see Harry and Voldemort duel in the last film) is that less is more. We get only a glimpse of their power which makes them seem more powerful if that makes sense. It's just like Yoda in The Empire Strikes Back. We only needed to see him lift the X-Wing to realize just powerful he is. Or like Gandalf. We don't see many feats of strength, but we see enough to know he's a bad motherf***er.

I am a big fan of Part 1. Part 2 is one long climax, that doesn't work well as a film imo. The most annoying thing with Part 2 is there was plenty they could add to fill it out, make it it's own thing like Part 1.
