You are? Then I'm surprised you bought BND... You just made all the protesting LESS effective.

Of coarse I am, I wouldn't have made this thread if I wasn't.

Unfortunately, my Spider-fan inside won't allow me to stop collecting. I'll stick around for the first few issues and see where it goes....and pray that things will get better.:o

MJ looks a little pudgy but that's a cute way to draw her.

I always thought this was a funny moment:

If thats pudgy, I'm a chubby chaser. :woot:

No problemo.

EDIT: BTW, you might want to avert your eyes (or get a bucket ready) as I post this moment from ASM #143:

Looking through this thread, this was one of my all time favorites. As a kid reading the comic in the 70's, I was always pulling for Pete and MJ to finally get together. This was pretty much the beginning, the first real kiss. I also love the little reaction Robbie gives here. Ross Andru really doesn't get the credit he should for his years on Spidey!

One nice thing is Joe Q did put this into the little montage for OMD.

How can Joe Q both get it and then just not get it at the same time?

Great series. I just wish they would have let Spider-man cut loose once an a while and actually punch someone. I mean jeez, he must have been rich on the show cause he ran through webbing like it was free.

That was a good episode...Too bad MJ was a clone so the marriage happened but, techincally didn't happen. Hmmmm I need to check the credits on that episode and see if Joey Q was involved..

In Spider-man Unlimited series Peter & (The real) Mary Jane are married .

Just giving my thread a bump cause I like to see it on the first page.:yay:

Actually one of the original endings to the clone saga was that MJ was supposed to be a clone, which is why it carried over as such in the cartoon. Joey Q was FArrrrr from the first guy to try and get rid of the marriage.

He might not have been the first but, he was by far the most vocal about it. For that reason he will always remain number 1 on my s**t list. I don't know why but, the guy just isn't likable AT ALL imo.

But meh whatever....

I plan I'm keep my thread active until Peter/MJ get reunited in the comics again. :yay:

He's only the most vocal because the fan base shrunk and the internet blew doors open.

I'm not defending the guy by any means, I think Brand New Day is the ONE smart thing this idiot ever did.

Quesada is like the George W Bush of comic books, every time he opens his mouth you just die a little inside and go "When the hell is he out of office again?"

(-and by all means continue the thread. Just cuz I think a single Spidey is in the long-term the way to go doesn't mean I didn't grow up in the MJ era.)

I agree.

That's pretty much how I feel about Quesada. Every single time he opens his mouth I'm stuck wondering if he actually knows what the hell he's saying. I think the concept of BND is good. Spidey did have some baggage on him in recent years. The Unmasking being the main thing. The marriage was not the problem in my eyes. It was actually one of the few reason I continued to read the Spider-man comics even when they were bad.

But meh whatever....

OMD sucks, Quesada Sucks and you do to. :oldrazz:

Haha, OMD sucks I'm sure, but I don't have the stink of it all over me cuz, once again, I didn't read it. I'm jumping into BND with wide eyes.

The most annoying thing is that everything that needed fixing in Spidey's world, aside from the marriage, happened because of Quesada. He gets no gold star from me for un-f****** up everything he himself, and that snivelling Babylon 5 nerd f***** up. I just plain like the real Spider-Man.

EXACTLY!

That's one of the problems I have with this era. The fact that most of this stuff was due to Quesada. This man praised all these freaking stupid ideas in interviews. The unmasking, the other, sins past and blah blah blah. He fixed all that crap up with this BND but, he threw away one of the big time reasons why I read Spider-man comics...Peter and MJ together. The funny thing was that the marriage was the one thing that fans weren't complaining about.

But meh whatever.

My thread will live on!

Maybe the reason why I'm starting to settle down just a bit (I'm still pissed off beyond belief with OMD but, not foaming at the mouth anymore lol) is cause I know that Peter and MJ will be back together again.

Can anyone recommend me any really good peter/mj issues?
i wanted to give something to my girlfriend who doesnt really care for comics, and idk, she might like it.

and what about Spider-man:Blue

any issue would be great thats a love story between the two with not as much action

ASM Annual Issue# 21, ASm Issue# 143, Spider-Man: Blue is great to.

I really hate to burst your bubble, but I know you're one of those who is buying BND. I'll try to explain it in simple enough terms.

In the old format, ASM would average at least 100k issues (usually a bit more depending on the gimmick occurring) and between them SSM and FNSM would add another 100k or so (averaging about 55k for SSM and 45k for FNSM). In total, there might be about 210k issues of Spider-Man sold.

Now, JQ gives us this horrible storyline (OMD) and a new status quo that, to be honest, makes absolutely no sense. A number of people drop the book, but a lot of people keep reading because they expect it won't last. Some actually like it. Let's say, worst case scenario for Marvel, that about 20% of ASM's readership drops the book. To be honest, I really doubt that many people will stop reading, but we'll go with that number for now.

Now, if ASM's sales numbers drop by 20% then each issue will only sell about 80k copies. However, ASM is coming out three times a month. That means that roughly 240k issues of 616 Spider-Man comics will sell each month rather than just 210k. Despite the fact that fewer people will be buying ASM than before, Marvel will be able to call BND a success.

I hate to say it, but it's pretty obvious. Peter and MJ are finished until JQ is gone. It'll take a drop in readership of about 40% for Marvel to see a loss on this endeavour, and that simply isn't going to happen. Either drop the books (like many others and myself) or get used to the new status quo.
