Favourite 80s Movie?...and Why!

Wow..such horrible taste...My favorite 80's movie? Raging Bull.

It was a time for jus enjoyable movies not every film had to be deep and psycological like today though theere where some of those kinds if thats what you liked.
Hmm, that’s true on one account. I do like psychological and philosophical films more. Yet today they are still overshadowed by the next best blockbuster. And I haven’t heard of any 80s films similar to Pi, Unbreakable or A Scanner Darkly.

Even though I have some old films in my strictly narrowed down favorites list, I consider myself a post millennium moviegoer. I was born in the 80s so I hadn’t developed a concrete taste in film till later.
Action is all well and good - Indiana, the Aliens and the Predators are awesome but the only two 80s flicks that really struck me were:
Princess Bride - I’m surprised that no one has mentioned that one yet.
and
Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn - doesn’t stand a chance against big action movies of the 80s but it has a particular crazy charm I like. I don’t have much appreciation for any kind of horror otherwise.
Both of them were from 1987.
And the single movie I like from the time I wasn’t even born yet is the 68’s 2001: A Space Odyssey.

PS: Oh, hey, don’t forget 85’s Highlander. That one was cool.

But the eighties was a time when films like DOTD could be made on relatively small budget and still become an all time classic even the cheapest film today costs mega moola to make.

Purple Rain. The acting was'nt that good, but the movie kicked major ass.

Purple rain was an awesome movie maybe its just cos im a big fan of Prince and the revolution but i dont care. And isnt it odd that Wendys small spoken role where she curses out prince for not using her and lisa's songs is the best acted part of the entire movie?

The Empire Strikes Back. It was the best Star Wars movie.

Honorable mentions:

Back to the Future
Ghostbusters
Evil Dead II
Blues Brothers
Ferris Bueller's Day Off

The Breakfast Club...because it ownz.

Can't pick one, couldn't even make a top ten... If you push me, I could get as close as to say Die Hard or The Terminator

big trouble in little china without a doubt!

Yeah Wendy had the best acting in the movie.Morris Day and Jerome made the movie for me though.

Impossible to pick one cause the 80´s has so many great movies

most of my movies are from the 80's so it hard to pick...but i'm gonna go with...er...Back to the Future...it's just awesomeness

The eightes was the decade where any movie no matter how high concept got greenlit. I wish Hollywood was still as risky as it was back then.....or maybe it was because it was the 80s and everyone was on crack. Either way 80s produced some damn good movies!

Off the top of my head. I love 80s movies they rule

Terminator
Aliens
Die Hard
Back to the future
Evil Dead
Preditor
Ghostbusters
Batman
FirstBlood
Gremlins
Escape from Newyork
