It was a time for jus enjoyable movies not every film had to be deep and psycological like today though theere where some of those kinds if thats what you liked.
Hmm, thats true on one account. I do like psychological and philosophical films more. Yet today they are still overshadowed by the next best blockbuster. And I havent heard of any 80s films similar to Pi, Unbreakable or A Scanner Darkly.
Even though I have some old films in my strictly narrowed down favorites list, I consider myself a post millennium moviegoer. I was born in the 80s so I hadnt developed a concrete taste in film till later.
Action is all well and good - Indiana, the Aliens and the Predators are awesome but the only two 80s flicks that really struck me were:
Princess Bride - Im surprised that no one has mentioned that one yet.
and
Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn - doesnt stand a chance against big action movies of the 80s but it has a particular crazy charm I like. I dont have much appreciation for any kind of horror otherwise.
Both of them were from 1987.
And the single movie I like from the time I wasnt even born yet is the 68s 2001: A Space Odyssey.
PS: Oh, hey, dont forget 85s Highlander. That one was cool.
