Comics Final Issue of X-Men: Genesis

On reviewing, you're right, but he was close enough to get there in a quick boat ride though, so him picking something up there wouldn't be beyond reason.

cerebro only amplifies xavier's powers, and to say that it only finds mutants is stupid. that's like saying he can only read mutant minds, but we've all seen him read regular human minds. this whole retcon crap happening in comics is ridiculous. didn't they say superman's death in 1993 was a result of superboy prime beating on a barrier? they ruined that whole story arc with this new crisis, and that's kinda what marvel is doing after house of m with this story. rehashing dead storylines because no one can come up with anything interesting anymore.

How is it that if no one could find Xavier before, he just magically appears now? I mean, when I first saw him, my first thought was that it was someone else in his guise. Where has he been all this time?

My question would be why wouldn't Xavier go back to the X-Men right away after HOM? Maybe he needed time to deal with his loss of power (assuming he isn't playing possum right now), but you'd think his sense of commitment would kick in and he'd realize his leadership is needed. Not to mention he probably has answers to the whole HOM thing.

Well, I took my crash course in this series today...bought all 5 issues that have been released and read them all in one sitting. This is a great series and I can't wait until Brubaker takes over on the flagship title. I really hope all these good characters that were created for this series aren't really dead, though that's the implication...I wouldn't mind seeing all of them again. Damn @ Emma Frost being one of the mutants Xavier went after for his 2nd team. Brubaker is dropping bombshells all over the place and I'm loving how the story keeps developing...it's definately a page-turner.

I think it's a pretty good idea actually. They're not exactly changing X-Men history as we know it (which I would totally have been against) but rather adding a new layer to it. I'd much rather see more stories like this than yet another trip to the Savage Land. Oooh, mutates, they're sooooo scary. Lol.

But I would rather a story like this (fairly interesting, some twists and turns though somewhat predictable depending on who you ask, new villain that will stick around) than constantly going to the past. I am all for going to the past to build on the future but the vast majority of Marvel trips back don't do that (ie...Sins Best Left Forgotten).

Of course, I also have been reading too much Dan Slott and want to see really cheesy/bad characters brought back and reworked as viable threats (if Eye Scream were to fight the X-Men again, I would cream myself).

I actually can't stop thinking about the Genesis squad in the current team landscape...the Adjless X-Men's new lineup seems so crappy...adding Petra, Sway and Darwin to the mix would make that book look a whole lot better, with Vulcan being in Uncanny. Hopefully Krakoa frees them all with its next bowel movement.

i just got the final issue its really really good i was so not disappointed

Y'know, I've gotta say...

I've been a pretty big fan of this mini from issue one on, and the last issue didn't disappoint.
Definitely looking forward to July and Bru on Uncanny. And we now all know who the "surprise" member is.

Ok, here's the spoiler I was talking about:
Cyclops kicks Xavier out. He tells the professor he's not welcome at the institute anymore, the he runs it now, and that Charles isn't even a mutant anymore...he doesn't belong there.

What a load of bull****
Xavier should kick that upstart out of his house.

My thoughts on this from the B/T thread:

X-Men: Deadly Genesis #6
Miles upon miles upon miles of retcons and mischaracterizations up and down the street, and this is what we end up with? The villain doesn't get defeated. Good guys died. Everyone is sad and betrayed and despairing in the end. This is our payoff?? This is our story??

Far and above the worst X-story that I've read in the last year. And that's saying a lot.

(0 out 10)

Ouch, I've been eargerly waited on the trade for this, but doesn't sound like it ends well.

I have been very displeased with this series since its start. Only issue 4 held a glimmer of a thrill. Issue 5 awoke me to the utter crap it was. With this sort of "preview" regarding issue 6, I'm not expecting much.

See, now this just proves there really is no accounting for taste. Personally I think it's about damn time Cyke stood up to the Professor.

Xavier almost destroyed the planet before and now did this (whether it is in character for him or not is debatable, after all, I just read original X-Men issue 4 the other day and Xavier entertained the thought of killing Magneto and the Brotherhood) and instead of just going "aw, that wacky Professor" something actually HAPPENED. Cyke grew a backbone and went "you know what? You f**ked up. Deal with it."

And this was obviously just set up for Uncanny so until Brubaker goes 2 years on Uncanny without doing anything, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Thing is, the whole series is soooooo slowly paced. Issues 1-3 nothing really happens in them. It's like we're waiting forever to see Xavier and he's in a pub??? WTF was that??? To me it's been a major dissapointment. I love the X-Men in space, and I do hope this guy delivers, but I have my doubts now.

She is fast becoming one because 3 of my jock friends bought comic books soley because of what she was wearing. The only thing is that they always think she has ice powers.

to be fair im in no way a dumb horny jock, and i also originally thought emma had ice powers lol

sure it's about time he stood up but the person he should have stood up to was Emma....and the decision at the end was just plain stupid

I respect Cyclops' decision in issue #6. I assume that we ignore the entire title of Astonishing X-Men as everything in the last real time year there happens before everything in every other Marvel title - HoM, Decimation etc. So I take it that whatever Emma did last issue to Scott has been and gone and he doesnt get control over his powers and whatever toughening up she caused there doesnt apply here (how are they going to follow through with his apparent powerloss/control if its clear from every other comic book before and now that he still wears his visor for combat and still wears shades when not?).

Therefore: Backbone move indeed there Scotty boy! One thing... The estate belongs to Xavier and his family, and the money is Xavier's inheritance (though when that dried up I dont know where he gets his cash from). He can ask Charles if he can leave the estate in his hands and pursue the dream outside of training and preparing mutants; but he cant really tell him to piss off for good n'yah n'yah.

I can see where Brubaker gets his excuse to bring the Shiar into everything when his turn starts on uncanny, and I like that Alex got a chance to express here as it seemed a bit "The second Summers Brother... Oh and there's some guy called Alex something or other on the team who was also at Krakoa and also in the plane with Scott. But dont worry bout him - let's just stick with Scott and Rachel okay?"
