Flashpoint - DC Animated.

I'm sorry maybe its because I've seen so much violent movies but this didn't necessarily strike me as overly gratitious or anything like that. [BLACKOUT]The hole in the head[/BLACKOUT] is really the only time where I was like whoa that's violent. [BLACKOUT]The kid dying eh I saw a much more violent version of that in Injustice earlier this year. [/BLACKOUT] I don't know, the talk about the violence I think was over blown. I thought this movie was pretty fantastic especially everything with Flash and Batman, really loved Batman's story in this. I actually want to see more about this Batman. Although did they gloss over some things or was I just not paying attention.
Who exactly went back into time to stop his mom's death. They make it seem like Professor Zoom (ridiculously awful name by the way) but then at the end they made it sound like Flash was the one that did it. Even though we know he didn't because we were with the character the whole time. And what the hell Superman, do something. You have the power to so why the hell not help in the final battle. Also why is Wonder Woman attacking Aquaman, I understand why Aquaman is going after her but why is she going after him. Just because he's fighting her? That's a really weak reason if that's the case.

thanks for spoiling it people. man just thought i'd drop in real quick and read if it's good or not. first line I read spoils it for me. thanks a lot people.

The comic has been out for two years, this is the only place to talk about the movie and honestly most of the people who have seen this potentially read the story on this board, we have been talking about spoilers since the first couple of pages.

Just downloaded it , haven't fully watched it .
All i gotta say is this.....this movie is bordering on R rating.
The stuff WW does at the end as well as holes being blown in heads :wow:

I know when she

killed Billy Batson I was :wow:

I was suprised that made it into the film as well. Even in an alternate reality, it was shocking to see one of the Big 5 do that.

I think the implication is that Barry does it when he runs off after speaking to Batman when the intro title sequence hits, just before he wakes up at his desk in the 'new universe'.

But than shouldn't he remember. He remembers everything else. Than how does Prof. Zoom come into the picture. Why is his costume in the ring, I thought it was to show he was responsible for everything

The comic series made me weep twice. Second was because they killed Billy, the first was because......THEY KILLED KRYPTO!!!! WHY?!?!?!

Before I watch a feature I avoid the boards like the plague because someone always (and I means always) drops a spoiler bomb.

Yea, all I did was read one sentence and someone spoiled it. Not too bad though. I really thought it was going to be a ratings poll. I wanted to see if it was good or not. I hear you though and will make it a point to stay off the boards of something I'm getting ready to watch.

The Flash feels sad, goes back in time to save his momma, but misses up the entire timeline, and somehow that other Flash knew?
I don't think Barry is the one to blame, that Zoom did most things, he did give Barry a ring with his reverse suit, knew everything, and tampered with the speed force
If I believe it the way Thwayne explains it, the story is full of crap, cause he's the 25th century villain, and lost his reference to be a speedster by Barry not being fast

I think the New 52 would be more interesting if they had let Flash keep his memories of the old universe! I don't understand how he didn't keep those memories. He gave Bruce that letter........in addition, how does Batman not remember this because of Flash.

I don't understand how he didn't keep those memories.

They showed him seizure out those memories during the story. Just like all of the Flashpoint memories will fade too. When you go end up in a new universe with a new history, the memories of the old ones start going away. The fates/Pandora/whoever let him keep the memories of his Mother as a gift for turning the world back into one that's less end-y.

He gave Bruce that letter........

He carried the letter. He didn't remember what Thomas said and tell Bruce.

in addition, how does Batman not remember this because of Flash.

He doesn't remember the old universe because the old universe never happened to him. He lives in a mostly similar one, but the details that didn't carry over never happened in this universe. There's nothing for New52 Bruce to remember.

This is probably in my Top 3 of all the DC Animated Films.

It was great.

And I absolutely love the Alternate Universe interpretation of Batman (and the Joker...That was great.)

This was an OK animated film, not one of DC's best in my opinion.

Didn't this film kind of skip a very important scene in the beginning of Flash going back in time? I haven't read this particular comic arc...but it seems like that should have been in this film no doubt. The film doesn't have as much impact as it could because we don't know that Flash caused all this until the end.

Didn't Aquaman weaponize Geo-Force and not Capt Atom???

Too bad......still wish he could have kept them.

It appears that the DCAU will be turning 52 as well.......did anyone look at he bonus feature on the DVD called "War"?

That was sort of the point or 'twist' so to speak. He kept blaming and looking for reverse Flash not realizing until the end that this was all his fault.

The DCAU is over. What you're referring to is the DC Universe Original Animated Movies (DCUOAM) they're doing.

They did say that, but it doesn't appear to be the case as of yet. We know that Batman & Son and a film taking place in the Arkham games universe are planned after Justice League: War. I guess we are shifting towards a complete New 52 film set film by film but we are (thankfully) not there yet.

I've never read Flashpoint or any of it's tie-ins and frankly never had any desire to. I usually pick up the graphic novels these movies are based on to give myself a little taster, but I still had no desire. As far as I was concerned it was another overly long, mediocre crossover event by the overrated Geoff Johns.

Further more... time travel and alternate universes are tricky territory. Some times they grab me and other times they leave me terribly bored. All this considered, I popped the Blu-Ray in and hoped for the best.

What I found was a genuinely emotional, powerful, dark and action-packed movie that hit on all the right levels. Not to mention incredibly mature with an over-abundance of violence and some sexual innuendos that made me giggle (''Once again Flash, it looks like your the bottom and I'm the top''). The best way to approach time travel in movies is to not think about it too much... Flash goes back in time, saves his mom, causes serious ripples through time that changes everything and will then have to fix it. That's fine, I feel no desire to over analyze that like some of you, plus we get to have some fun along the way. I particularly enjoyed Flashpoint Batman and the twisted versions of Aquaman and Wonder Woman.

As usual with these movies we could have been doing with more time to flesh out the supporting characters. Particularly the Martha Wyane stuff and the love affair between Aquaman and WW (I'm assuming they got together to conceive a child or did he just cheat on Mera?)

The animation was spectacular for the most part and the designs worked with said fluid animation. The only designs I didn't care for were the overly bulky men and the downright awful looking regular Superman. I know some of you like to complain about the animation but to my eyes it looked kinetic, vibrant and expressive. I could have done without the overly CGI Flash though.

As usual Andrea Romano knocked it out of the park. It was a joy to hear the good old veterans like Kevin Conroy and Dana Delany back proving they do it best. Conroy's delivery in that last scene just got me. However everyone was perfectly cast.

Federick Weidmann also deserves massive praise. I can't get over how good the music was in this. He is such a revelation... and long may he compose these features.

All in all, a fantastic movie. It has it flaws but it's still a beautifully told story head and shoulders above the utterly forgettable Superman: Unbound.

4/5

Flashpoint was a mess in the comics, and the animated movie is also a mess.
Though they tried to streamline the story, it was still an ill conceived idea period.

As I was watching it I kept thinking: This animation and action is pretty good but what the hell is DC smoking? This is the best they could come up with?

DC is pretty much LAME at crossovers. And even worse and having continuity that makes sense. They should really pick a timeline and stick to it.

Loved the movie, thought it was a little too brutal in some spots...

Definitely in my top 3 DC animated films.

I've just read the Batman issues of Flashpoint and I have to say I preferred the ambiguous way it was handled in the movie. In the comics I didn't find it that interesting but in the film I preferred the questions it raised. Sometimes stuff is better left to your own imagination.

Especially the
Martha is the Joker thing, it was more effective to me in the laugh and the blood around her mouth
