I'll start with a confession that I'm more of a Marvel fan than a DC guy; but I do love all things Batman. I have a lot of issues with Superman but he always works great when alongside Batman. Since Green Lantern failed to translate to the big screen, and I'm not really sold on the idea of Flash or Aquaman being really viable movie franchises; why not put DC's Trinity together? Of course I'm referring to:

Batman
Superman
Wonder Woman

These three characters have a long shared history in the comics, are all incredibly well known at this point, and have shared tons of interesting stories in the comics for over 70 years now. A shared film universe would be amazing; and I still believe they can, no SHOULD, connect TDK and MOS to create one; but even a one-off film could work here. Thoughts?

I would be very supportive of a Trinity movie and see no reason why it is not a good idea. These 3 are DC's most iconic heroes and my favorites (other than Blue Beetle Jaime Reyes) so I would love a movie showcasing them.

as i keep repeating in all the other threads, i want a WF, followed by a trinity, culminating with a JL, which would lead to more JL films.

What would be the set up though? Obviously it works in the comics, because the characters have been established, and it's a universe full of crazy. But in a live action movie, how would the three come together?

This is not a bad concept. Assuming of course they use Nolan's trilogy (hopefully Bale stays on as Bats), MOS (assuming it's good), and a WW solo flick before hand I think this could work. Although I really have my doubts about a JL flick at this point.

Nolan's Bat franchise will end with TDKR, and it's been rebooted again. But the plan is to introduce the JLA using Batman's rebooted universe as the main pillar, or so it was rumored. MOS is in a stand alone universe, so it can't happen that way. Wonder Woman? since there's no plans just yet, it's impossible to say whether she will be in her own stand alone universe, or involved with Batman's (rumored) shared universe.

Nothing against Batman, but Superman really should be the pillar. Batman is a fairly introverted character.

Didn't we already do this thread?

Trinity is a dumb idea.

WW would take away screentime and focus from the Batman/Superman dichotomy, which in inself is an entire film.

Batman/Superman is 10x more iconic than the Trinity. "World's Finest" is the better bet.

Not just that, it seems WW is the hardest JL character for WB to pull off, and they still don't seem to know how to do her properly.

they didn't know what the hell to do with superman for 30 years so that's not saying much. it's not indicative of the character but does say a lot about their incompetence.

There's already a thread about a possible Trinity movie. But people are very much against it, mostly because Wonder Woman's part in the story are too hard to explain to satisfy comic book fans, and dito the regurlar audience, and that the amazon warrior would just come of as "third wheel".

But I think The Avengers have now showed us that it can bee done in an acceptable way. Bringing together different characters will work if they had been presented before. Then it's easier to grasp how three such different personalities can team up. Wonder Woman solo adventure beforhand, thanks (as Aztec also wants).
And I agree with

. First World's Finest, then Trinity, and THEN Justice League.

I could go for a Trinity Film but have Hal Jordan/GL, Superman, and Batman instead. If that doesn't work, there should be Green Lantern, Green Arrow, and Black Canary.

Yeah both of those sound good sure, but looking at it from a financial standpoint WB would have to be DUMBASSES to fund a Green Lantern, Green Arrow, and Black Canary film. GL failed and isn't relevant in the public's eye, let that property chill for a while..

Superman vs Batman makes the most sense definitely. Wonder Woman could feel tacked on if they tried tying her story to a Trinity film. I think a WF film in the vein of a Nolan superhero film could be HUGE.

Let Winding-Refn do that WW film with Christina Hendricks like he was talking about. Stick Gosling in as Steve Trevor perhaps?

Superman: Henry Cavill
Batman: Michael Fassbender
Wonder Woman: Christina Hendricks

Who is going to see this movie for wonder woman though?! She's a niche character now only really enjoyed by a select few comic fans.

I mean the marketing for this movie would revolve 80% around batman the other 19% on superman and wonder woman would find herself somewhere near black window.

You have to do like marvel does for this type of thing. Solo movie to build up fan base/general audience awareness. To be honest though a wonder woman film itself is not very likely any time soon.

I saw an attractive young woman walking down the street the other day rocking a Wonder Woman tshirt... I almoat stopped to ask her if she would like to see a WW movie. I didn't though because that would be weird.

If they weren't so insistent on avoiding connections between their superhero films, this would be easy.

You could have had MOS with a hint to GL (even if it's something simple like just a line mentioning him). You then could have had a good MOS sequel a couple of years later, as well as Flash and Wonderwoman solo films (both having some subtle hint that this is the same 'universe' as GL and MOS). A couple of years after that, it's time to reintroduce Batman, as well as perhaps a third MOS movie. And while all this is going on, we let GL fall into obscurity like TIH. Still technically part of that world, but no one will mind if it's a different actor.

Then either start with World's Finest, or just jump straight into a JL movie. And for that JL movie, you can even use a different GL - which is even easier than a new actor like in Avengers with The Hulk, because there actually ARE different GL characers. Kyle, or John would do fine.

*sigh*

But they won't...

So what are we left with?

A Green Lantern franchise that is now dead and completely pointless... More of a hinderance actually, cause you can't just start again with GL in another solo franchise IMO, he's not popular enough.

A new Superman franchise, that could be pretty successful given half a chance, with a remarkable fit for the MOS in Henry Cavill, that might go on for 3 films or more... But will not be connected to a JL franchise.

Nolan's Batman franchise done and dusted, and a new franchise he'll be producing... Which will also have nothing to do with JL, and also will probably run for at least 3 movies.

Not hearing any plans for Flash or Wonderwoman, or any other character other than LOBO...

And they are still thinking, 'Yeah, we can make a JL movie soon somehow'

I don't even see how they can make a World's Finest unless they allow the MOS franchise and the new Bat franchise to crossover.

And as for trinity, I really do think WW needs a solo movie. Her origin/world needs a proper exploration, or she'll come across a bit 'much' for the GA to swallow.

Has a new franchise been confirmed? Can you cite a source please?
