Infinity War Fortunately, I Am Mighty - The Thor Thread! - Part 1

I really hope he gets more focus than he got in the first 2 films. What do you all think?

I'm not sure why Hemsworth took such issue with Thor's portrayal in this? He's not as funny as Ragnarok no, but he's processing a lot of grief and is clearly on a quest to stop Thanos. I thought he was perfectly toned

Whaaaaat ? He took issue with his portrayal ? Source ?
For me his portrayal in IW topped Ragnarok which was pretty awesome too.

Watched the movie yesterday. Him and Dr Strange were outstanding.when he came in Wakanda and wrecked everyone the whole audience was shook. Such a boss entrance.

I remember the discussions people had saying Thor (even Hulk, Strange) had to be nerfed on the big screen, how it wouldnt work. IWs best moments involved Thor and Strange (wish they did Hulk justice too). Coincidence ? I think audiences want these OP heroes be...OP.

No nerf! Keep him overpowered.:woot:

As far as I remember he didn't take issue with the portrayal, he was just worried when he first heard that he'd not be just like he was in Ragnarok and thought he might be reverted to what he was before. He said that he was on board when the Russos told them why he'd be a bit different (due to everything the character had and would go through, and the tone of the film) and that they had an important arc for him.

All that was before he saw any script or anything. And there's certainly clear aspects of Ragnarok Thor in IW, it's just that the tone is different so he won't have the wackiest moments here.

This. It's mainly fans and certain creators (That shouldn't be writing OP characters in the first place) that overthink these kinds of things.

So true. That's why the excuse that Superman is overpowered, and good stories can't be written, doesn't hold.

Thor was great in this. I'm not a huge Thor fan, however I really enjoyed his arch. Brilliant acting by Hemsworth.

I always thought the idea that characters should be nerfed to "fit in with other characters" or "have valid threats and opposition" was quite unimaginative.

Back before The Avengers was released I remember everyone was saying Thor and Hulk should be nerfed to fit with the other Avengers. Now all of a sudden they're on board with making Captain Marvel as over powered as possible.

Yeah. Go figure...

I know I love to joke about how ridiculously OP Captain Marvel will be in the movies, but the truth is... I don't think I'd actually be happy if they made her stronger than Thor. I do want her to be a good match for him, but stronger... nah. And honestly I don't believe she will be.

Speaking of Thor, I was very satisfied with how he was handled in this movie, I just wish we could have seen more of him [BLACKOUT]kicking Outriders' butts[/BLACKOUT]. And holy crap, he [BLACKOUT]almost killed Thanos[/BLACKOUT]!

Hemsworth just keeps on impressing me man. Loved him in this and I'm glad the Russo's didn't take too much of his Raganarok personality away. Seeing him wreck mofos at the end was great and [BLACKOUT]when he first showed up in Wakanda with Rocket and Groot everybody lost their **** including me lol.[/BLACKOUT]

Most powerful portrayal of Thor yet!

Not only that but this is Hemsworth best performance in any movie he's ever been in. Wow when I say this dude was all the way turned on I mean it, he was firing on all cylinders for the entire film. His humour was balanced evenly with his emotional moments, seriousness, badassery, and all around godliness.

In my opinion, he finally one upped RDJ.

The Russos definitely found a nice balance between Ragnarok Thor and Classic Thor. His pairing with the Guardians was a match made in heaven.

So glad you finally made it to see IW!

Enjoyable indeed!!!

Thor was really good in this. The man is on a mission especially now.

Just got back from a midnight showing. Man this just made my year. Thor was perfect in this movie!! Loved Ragnarok but agree with the comments that the Russos found the perfect balance for Thor's personality. And his entrance in Wakanda made me go berserk. LOVED the voyage to Nidavellir and Eitri. Still processing the movie. It was very dark and I am pretty upset with some character deaths but so happy to see Thor finally get a chance to really shine among the Avengers for a change. Pairing him with Groot and Rocket was brilliant. I'm not sure yet but this film may have finally dethroned the original Avengers for me. I still have a lot of questions yet which probably won't be answered for another year.

It definitely dethroned the original Avengers for me, heck Ragnarok, Winter Soldier, Doctor Strange, and Black Panther already did that.

1. Infinity War

2. Ragnarok

3. Doctor Strange

4. Civil War

5. Black Panther

Yeah the first Avengers is still pretty magical to me but at this point my top 5 are probably:

1. Infinity War
2. Avengers
3. Ragnarok
4. Winter Soldier
5. Black Panther

I'm actually really amazed that 3 of my favorite Marvel films have all happened in the span of a single year. Marvel is on a roll!!
