oh, dude, there're so many great DC titles. And I'm not even talking Superman or Batman and yadda yadda. You've GOT to check out somje Vertigo.

I've read some Vertigo, Preacher, Green Lantern, and a few other titles but never really went into the lesser known DC Characters (Starman, for one i've never even heard of).

but yeah, hopefully some people reccommend some more DC TPB's so I can pick a few up.

btw, Thanks for the fix up in ORT 2.0 .

no prob. I mentioned it earlier, but please don't get upset if I edit your submissions. The goal of the ORT is to get people into these books, and if I think rephrasing a couple things would do that more effectively I may switch a few things around. That, and obvious spelling/grammer/fact corrections, and picture additions.

but really, I appreciate everyone's hard work which is why I want to reward it :)

Don't mind at all.

You're doing everyone a service.

New Warriors: Reality Check
Zeb Wells / Skottie Young
Marvel

Summary: If you like fun stories by such writers as Dan Slott and Brian K. Vaughn, then you should enjoy this fun, comedic read. The New Warriors aren't quite so new anymore and it's come time for them to find a new cause, a new fight, and they find it... on public television. When Night Thrasher strikes a mysterious deal with a reality-TV producer, the team moves out of New York to help the villain-plagued denizens of small-town America. But is small-town America ready for big-time heroes? This is the mini that leads the New Warriors into their fateful, horrifying, role as the catelists of the Civil War, and is a must read for those who have enjoyed the event. 'Reality Check' was belittled by many fans for it's cartoonish art and its swing from the typical New Warriors style, but the humor behind the book carries it well, and Skottie Young's art is bright, clean, and crisp, and fits the mood of the book wonderfully. I came into the book not expecting much, but found myself pleasantly surprised, and if you enjoy lighthearted fun, you'll enjoy it as well.

Genre:Superhero Comedy, Family Friendly
Format: Available in Trade Paperback only.

The Sentry
Paul Jenkins / Jae Lee
Marvel

Summary:
Do you know Robert Reynolds? Probably not, no one does. He's a simple man who’s afraid of the outside world and often finds himself with far too much to drink. He also just so happens to be the world's greatest superhero, or is he? If the Sentry was indeed the hero that he believes himself to be, then why is it that no one else remembers him? If he was truly the hero that all other heroes modeled themselves after, why is it that they have no idea who he is? Is the Sentry really the greatest superhero that the world has ever known, or is he simply the figment of a crazy man's desparate imagination? Follow the Sentry as he tries to remind the world of who it is he claims to have once been, for if he fails in this, it is his belief that the world's greatest threat, The Void, will return, and that the world will fall in its wake. With an all star guest list, and a Miracleman-esque feel, this story quickly became one of Marvel's hidden gems. And now that the Sentry has been brought to the forefront of the Marvel Universe in the pages of the New Avengers, people are quickly realizing how great his story truly is. If you've enjoyed reading about him in recent publications, then you'll love his original tale. You will become a believer in The Sentry!

Genre: Superhero Mystery
Format: Available in Trade Paperback only. Containing the 5 issue mini series, as well as the five one shots that follow it, concluding in 'The Sentry Vs. The Void.'[/b]

Hey, I really enjoyed it. I'm the kind of person that really enjoys family friendly books, and that book definately is. Heck, while I was writing my review, by 2 1/2 year old daughter was sitting with the trade and just giggling at the images. I love that my kids can read it (eventually) and I don't have to worry about what they're reading. Sometimes, it's good to just have some light hearted fun humor comics.

I actually just noticed your post stating it... sorry about that. I guess maybe we can both do one and Elijya can pick the better of the two... or if it's more fair I can take mine down.. if Elijya asks me to.

Nah, ill just do mine anyway. Looks like you had a hard time finding pics, you need me to hook you up?

Earth X
Jim Krueger / John Paul Leon & Alex Ross
Marvel

Summary:
The world is not as it once was. Spiderman has retired, the Avengers are dead, and the X-Men have disbaned. There are few who remain to challenge the threats of the world, led by a depressed Captain America, and with every person on the face of the earth now being mutants, that threat is growing. A hideous hydra creature rises to confront the heroes, converting all those who it touches to it's side, but what's even more sinister is whose name it rallies behind, repesented by that of a flag, with a red skull. As this war rages, an even greater threat is on the horizen, one that will mean the end of all that is. Can the heroes of today and tomorrow find their strength and overcome their burdons to rise up and save those in need, or will their grief cost them the world? And what role will Uatu the Watcher and his new pupil, X-51, play in the outcome of this threat? You have a center stage view of the largest scale story that Marvel has ever produced, spanning from earth to space, from the past to the future, and from the hearts and minds of the very heroes that we've grown to love. There's never been a story like Earth X, and there will never be another in its comparison. Read it, and you will thank me later.

If you enjoy this story, there were two sequels released, Universe X, and Paradise X, both available in tpb format.

Genre: Superhero
Format: Earth X is best bought in the Hardcover form with the cover shown above. This includes the entire Earth X series, as well as the 1/2 issue that was later released. It also contains a lot of bonus material that I found to be completely interesting. There is also another hardcover labled 'Graphitti Designs' that was released several years ago that was done in black and white, per the artist's request. It had a hard plastic cover casing and other features along with it, however, this edition was rather pricey, and only for the serious collectors. It also comes with 2 cd's. This is what one person had to say about it, "Two compact discs contain 25 musical compositions assembled by Scott Vladimir Licina, 16 dialogue tracks and the first ever, fully-realized Earth-X video containing both live action and computer animation. These two discs are worth the price of admission all by themself!" There is also a new Trade Paperback that has just been released containing the entire story.

Just found that online. Man I wish I had that Graphitti Version! I'll add it into the review.

I have it, but I've never actually opened the CD

Earth X really isn't for anyone who's not already very familiar with the Marvel Universe, it's too complex

Hey Anub, JH, would you mind not making everything bold or using size tags? thanks

Avengers Disassembled: The Mighty Thor
Michael Avon Oeming / Andrea DiVito
Marvel

Summary:
"The Gods Are At War!" I think those five words sum up this storyline wonderfully. The mythological realm of Asguard enters its final days as the God of Myschief, Loki, rages war on its people. Could this be the fabled end that some have called 'Ragnarok'? With Odin dead and gone, only Thor and his followers can decide its fate, but will he be Asguard's savior, or the architect of its downfall? I myself have never been a fan of Thor, but the way that Oeming crafted this masterpiece made me fall in love with Asguard and the whole of its people. From the dwarven lands of Nidavellir, to the elves of Alfheim; of Baldur, of Loki, of the Warriors Three, and of Thor, the god of thunder himself, this story will entice you and keep you captivated until the fateful final page, where we learn what is to become of Thor, the God of Thunder, and of all those who believe.

Genre: Superhero Fantasy
Format: This story is only available in trade paperback format.

I don't think so. I just let a friend borrow it who only reads fanfics, and have read very very few comics, and he absolutely loved it. It's not an easy read, but it's still very enjoyable.

Yeah, I read it when I was still pretty new to comics and got it.

Title: Green Arrow: Straight Shooter
Writer/Artist: Judd Winick/Phil Hester
Publisher: DC Comics

Summary Monsters, shady business men, and a Kung Fu midget Assassin are just a taste of this glorious collection of the first story arc of the Judd Winick/Phil Hester team's run on Green Arrow. The Elevast corporation has moved into star city, building a massive Mega Mall called the Star Center. Could mean a lot of cash for the city. Not so good for the people that live in the area it's being built in. What with them being forcibly evicted to make way for it and all. A huge legal battle has stalled the construction lead by a lawyer who happens to be the niece of superhero Black Lightning, and a little help on the bills by none other than Mr. Ollie Queen aka Green Arrow. Things change drastically with a couple of brutal murders at the construction site of some security guards. GA goes in to investigate and finds out the culprit is a man eating monster of some sort. The Elevast corporation decides to do something about this pest, and hires a pint sized assassin by the name of Constantine Drakon To take care of it. I tell you, Drakon is one of the most badass new characters created in the last 10 years in my opinion. Worth buying the book just to see him in action. Of course, eventually GA and Drakon are gonna but heads, and whoa baby what a show.

This arc is one of GA's finest adventures. GA fighting monsters, GA fighting a cold blooded killer that could possibly give the Bat a run for his money, and GA, being the jerk we all know and love. A must read for any Green Arrow fan.

Format: Straight Shooter can be found in trade paperback format. This is volume 4 of the current GA series collecting issues 26-31.

expect Fray from me this weekend, sometime in between my painkiller highs. I was gonna do Frank Miller's DD run but I loaned the trades to a buddy and I feel more comfortable writing for them with them on hand for reference

And I would just rather not do Born Again until I or someone has done Frank's original run.

So as a substitute for the time being, I'll do Fray, and...man, I don't really want to be the one to do Watchmen...uh...maybe I'll do Hellboy:up:
