Fright Fest: The Official Horror Thread

Are they pretty good? I have Comcast OnDemand so I can watch most of these for free. I'm just wondering if they're worth the time or not.
Most of them are good. There was like 7 or 8 eps shown on tv and about 5 or 6 not shown.

It ran on NBC during before Olympics last year and was never brought back. Its like a network version of Masters Of Horror.

Alot of them are good. With some good twists at the end.

The Series Fear Itself that ran for a short time is coming to dvd the 15th of this month. With 5 new unaired eps. Fearnet is showing one each week.

I watched that show when it aired last Summer, haven't gotten around to watching the remaining episodes of FearNet. Wasn't bad, despite the obvious restraints brought onto it by network censorship.

Let me get this straight.

I have most if not all of the episodes on DVD of Masters of Horror, after the first season I stopped because I heard from enough people the following one wasn't that good.

Now FearNet and Fear Itself are two totally different series as well right? My friend I think had a few DVDs from one of those series that he had lent me months back. A few of the names were, Mulberry Street, Grave Dancers(I think??) and The Many Deaths of Eli Stone(once again I'm not sure if I got the name right on that title either).

I think those films you are talking about are part of Horrorfest 8 films to die for.

Cause I have the Grave dancers one and heard of the others.

Fearnet is a website that shows Horror stuff online and Fear Itself is a show that shows different Horror theme episodes by different horror directors.

FearNet is a Horror website where you can watch many movies and shows there, Fear Itself being one of them.

Edit: Apatow posted before I did.

Scott Swan -- the writer/director of "MASKHEAD" and someone who works with John Carpenter and did work on both Masters of Horror and Fear Itself -- is writing up this feature called 31 Days of Halloween. There are some interesting choices in there.

I watched a Spanish movie called "The Orphanage" this weekend, and it was damn good. Guillermo Del Toro produced it, and J.A. Bayona directed it. It's a really well made film that builds the atmosphere of tension really well. It's one of the best Euro horror movies I've seen in awhile. I'd recommend it to anyone, even if they don't like horror.

I seen it at Target today for like 7.99 once I get money, I'm gonna buy it. They also have Let The Right One In for 9.99 and Pans Labyrith.

I still haven't seen Pan's Labryinth, but it's been coming on HBO lately so I might catch it one of these nights. I wasn't really too interested because my ex told me it wasn't "my type of movie," but she's an *******, and The Orphanage made me realize that I'm somewhat of a Del Toro fan. I've seen all his movies except that one, and outside of two of them I liked them all. Del Toro ftw.

I've only seen LTROI. But at those prices, you can't go wrong.

lol You sound like a salesman, but you're right. I might go get it myself this weekend if I'm not tied up in other things.

I know, that's sometimes what is either a deal or deal breaker is the price. I bought Trick R treat today at walmart for 14.99. Now if it was 20 bucks I would have not bought it. I'm kinda picky at paying too much.:woot:

Have you found any places to get cheap DVDs? There's a place called Hasting's not too far from where I live, and they routinely sell DVDs of all kinds for $10 or cheaper. They're like a big, cheap, Best Buy with books and comics thrown in. It really helped my horror collection grow. I get movies like "Day of the Dead" for $6.99. If you find a place like that you might never want to leave.

I use the walmart 5 dollar bin alot. Plus I buy alot of pre used dvd's from Blockbuster, Suncoast and FYE. I'm not like some who are against pre use dvd's.

And the local video store I go to sells their pre used dvds for 7.99 and 3.99.

And sometimes just after a few weeks. So thats good, if I don't wanna pay full price and just wait a while.

I heard so many good things about "Pan's Labryinth," but when I sat down and watched it, I never got into it.

I somewhat agree. I saw Pan way back in 2006 at the Helsinki International Film Festival. The screening was even before the Spanish premiere, but it had already been screened at several other festivals during that year, so the hype was well and alive. I bought too much into it, I guess. Because I didn't see it as this 5/5 masterpiece. I was bit disappointing for me, but I did dig it.

I liked The Devil's Backbone more, though. Haven't seen Pan since that screening. I've been trying to re-watch it from time to time, but I never got around it. I think I'll check it out on Blu-ray some of these days.

Btw, if any of you enjoyed both Pan and TDB, be sure to check out The Spirit of the Beehive. Old Spanish flick from the 70's. You can clearly see that that film gave del Toro the inspiration for both of those films.

I guess this is horror related. Here's a pic I took the other day when I was chopping up some wood. I had the axe out, so I decided to get one of my Jason Hockey mask I made out and took this.

A little self promotion here, but I'm offering completed hocks Part 3 and 4 hocks like this for $65 plus the shipping cost up until Halloween. So if interested, hit me up.

I just really like these mask. I personaly wish they would have kept this design for the remake. It's iconic and didn't need to be messed with and made into a "bowl".

Also, anyone else find it strange that tv networks haven't been airing anything Halloween related? AMC usually does a whole month or horror stuff, but I think this year and last they haven't done anything.

I seen a promo and AMC will start on the 23rd. and will premiere the new digitally remastered version of Night of the living dead (1968)

Digitally remastered verson of NotLD? There's so many different versions of that film now, which exactly one are they talking about? The colorized one? The reedited one? The other different colorized one? or the BRAND NEW digital version one? ...It doesn't matter..haha.

I think its the new one that was released last year on dvd. My sister actually just bought the dvd recently.

I'm waiting for the 3D converted version. They've been working on that for over a year now getting it right. I hope it looks good in 3D.

I am so sick and damn tired of every new movie now being made in 3d, when alot of these movies don't even need to be made in 3d. Its just a way to get more out of people. I seen one 3d movie in theaters and I think that was enough, I think if a 3d movie comes out I wanna see i'll either pay to see the 2d version and watch that or pay for the 2d version and sneek into the 3d version, I still have my glasses from before.
