again, fans of the comics not realizing that a majority of GI Joe fans, myself included, had NO idea there were comics until much later....and you all do know that Larry Hama was involved with the film right??

the movie was ok 6 or 7 out of 10....but to put it in perspective Ive been rewatching the animated series and its actually pretty up there with the cheese factor...The MASS Device...giant particle cannons, mind controlled slaves, giant ocean worms, and Snake Eyes in a blue outfit with purple boots and goggles

to be fair, when translating a cartoon/comic property into a live action film, there is a serious dose of realism that must be injected. They get a 6, but only for having a budget. I'd love to see what Megaforce (if you haven't seen it, SEE IT, pure cheese, but equal to GIJOE minus the 30 years of film/narrative evolution) would have turned out like with the budget this film got.

oh yea, I wonder when ppl will start mentioning how a black character that (can't) "doesn't read manuals" and trips over his feet, has wonky caricaturic features and makes dumb jokes is offensive to the black community...

They won't because there just so happens to be a pretty capable and competent black guy on the team as well (and might I add, in charge of them while in the field and during training). So, it was more of a 'dumb American' joke than a 'dumb black guy' joke. :oldrazz:

Great movie! :woot:

The Good:

. The Plot.
. The Characters.
. The Action scenes.
. The Comedy scenes.
. The advanced Technology.
. The Vehicles.
. Brendan Fraser's cameo (I hope he comes back in G.I. Joe 2).

The Bad:

. Snake-Eyes vow of silence.
. The modified ending (I prefered the original, with Cobra Commander and Destro escaping, the Baroness continuing evil and the Joes moving on to the USS Flagg).

The Ugly:

. Snake-Eyes costume. :hehe:

Rating: 10/10.

WHAT? There was a completely different ending that was shot for this movie? If what you say is true, I definitely prefer the original intended ending.

and Snake Eyes has never talked....so I don't get the complaint about that....and mouth aside, his outfit was pretty dead on

don't really remember marlon waynes telling a single person what to do or leading but my memory is faint these days

last I heard jazz was second in command and that didn't stop the world from crying bloody murder when he was...murdered(for being the "black guy").

as far as the twins, I guess the "being able to read" joke would have gone over better if they were in a leadership position... and as far as their effectiveness, my faint memory seems to remember them taking on devastator.

I believe so. A lot of scenes from the original ending, cut from the movie, were featured in trailers and TV Spots, like Baroness saying "This is only just begun" (She'd say that when Duke locks her up) and Duke saying "Then I know what I got to do" (He'd say that when he hears the Nanomites can't be taken out of Baroness's body) but cut from the movie. I believe they did that to wrap up all the storylines in case a sequel didn't got greenlight.

That sounds like a much better ending. The Baroness should definitely not have switched sides. Also, her being mind controlled was pretty stupid. It took away from her bad ass character.

I was talking about Heavy Duty. Both, HD and Ripcord were both black.

Actually, she'd still switch sides, but with everything leading to an eventual return to the evil side.

Snake Eyes has always been a silent character.

You've got to be joking. I'm not saying that you can't like what you like, but giving a movie a 10/10 rating means it was perfect. I can't believe that anyone walked out of G.I. Joe thinking this.

I thought this movie was gonna be the dumbest movie ever cuz of the previews. but everything i that thought was gonna be a con ended up making sense and working in the context of the movie.

For example, i thought ripcord was gonna be annoying and stupid (like the twins in tf2), but he was a likeable character (unlike the twins from tf2) and he was the 1 that ended up saving the day when u think about it.

and at first i thought a high tech gi joe team would be stupid, but the scene in the beginning when the cobra guys fight duke and his army guys made it make sense, and gave a good reason for the goes to be as advanced as cobra. Plus those silver suits where only for 1 action scene, which was allot better than if they where the joe's uniforms for the whole movie like i thought they where from the previews.

long story short, this movie was a heck of alot better than i thought it would be. and my only major gripe was the cgi looking a lil fake in some scenes.

i give the movie a solid 8/10.

also, destro's mask was awesome!

can't wait for return of cobra.

It was very obvious that Somers had the idea 5 minutes after he saw Iron Man.

Possibly. Or it could have been any number of, you know, GI JOE concepts involving the use of powered armor, robots, etc.

Powered armor has been around since what, the 60's, with stuff like STARSHIP TROOPERS in 1959. And probably before that. IRON MAN wasn't the first, either.

I need to see the movie a few more times to determine my final rating, but I give it an 8/10 at the moment. A very entertaining, fun and engaging movie that never had one moment of boredom and the action scenes were downright jaw-dropping to watch, I can't pick which one was my favorite. Dug the cast and thought they all did very well, thought the pacing and directing was solid and overall it was just a really fun flick that always kept me watching and always had me entertained. It wasn't perfect, as some of the CGI looked like it needed some touch-up work, the dialogue needed work in spots and a few characters were underused, but all in all the good definitely outweighed the bad for me. It's been forever since I last watched a G.I. Joe cartoon, so I just went in expecting the movie to be a different take on G.I. Joe. I really liked it and look forward to any sequels.

Because he was mute, not because he choose not to talk. :cwink:

the movie's way makes it more complex in comics he doesn't talk because he cant in film he just chooses not to. Maybe bottling up all his aggression deep inside him and no i don't want him to talk. But having him forcing himself not to talk has a deeper meaning behind it.Shows he has seen some things in his life and past he would rather not speak of ever.

the suits were cool but not so much more imaginative than what was diplayed in his mummies movies, especially when they would run through cities.

I saw this film thinking it was going to be corny and just overall a bad movie, but I was wrong, it was better than I thought it would be. way better. 6/10
