G8: Still Just As Action-Packed!

Well... I would like to visit San Fran, I do like Rupaul, Scissor Sisters, and Queer As Folk. So 4 for 24... do I get the yogurt as a prize?

Frankly, I'm a little surprised to see voguing, QAF and RuPaul on that list. I thought those belonged to my generation. :(

You young people and your "jazz music." I'm old enough to remember RuPaul's earlier career as a right tackle in the Canadian Football League! :cmad:

In other news, I have VERY mixed feelings about this
http://www.buzzfeed.com/omgitsanf/things-millennial-gays-love-b83k

-on one hand its pretty accurate (which makes me sad)
-I myself fall into some of this ... a few too many (which makes me sad)
-and then i look at it all again and think about it.... and it just makes me sad haha.

I guess it's better than the last Generation of Bath Houses, Bette Midler, and Cher??

Half that list is things I find completely obnoxious....and half I fall into.

pretty much the same... which makes me conflicted haha

Same here.

That's a weird ass list... Glee, really? Is it still 2009? I've spent the last several years on the Glee boards here and trust me, the general consensus is less of a "Thing we like" and more "Well, it's still here, so why not?"

But then again, they also include the Real Housewives franchise as something that can actually be appreciated by anyone with a soul, so why am I questioning this? :o

To be fair.... I don't think any of us on the glee thread are the main, or target demographic

True, but still.

What even is the target demographic of Glee?

Teenaged musical/choir geeks with no concept of what a good character arc looks like?

I won't say it say it explicitly because it's kind of mean, but the target demographic of Glee is essentially the female equivalent of the majority of the guys who visit SHH.

I just watch it religiously at this point. I've watched it too long to stop until it ends.

I stopped after season 2. It became pretty clear that the writers and producers had no idea what they were doing anymore, and they were just slapping together flimsy plots to frame their musical numbers that were only there to promote iTunes sales. They were clearly flopping around with some of the characters like fish on dry land. After hearing about what happened to Quinn during season 3, I'm glad I walked away.

Or just teenage/preteen girls and gay boys.

Also Im also not convinced any of us are really "millennial gays" me thinks we may be a tad too old :(

Heh, yeah...

End of Episode 14: "CAR CRASH!!!!"
Beginning of Episode 15: "Alright, Quinn's fine. Well, actually, she's in a wheelchair, but you know what? Whatever. Moving on..."

My personal Millenial/Gen X test:

Have you ever owned a vinyl record of a NEWLY released album?

When someone mentions Mark Wahlberg, do you unconsciously think of the melody to "Good Vibrations?"

Do you have a memory of seeing any of the OT Star Wars movies in their original theatrical run?

If you have a smartphone, do you actually use it to make calls?

Do you have the habit of always having a few quarters in case you need a payphone?

Do you know what a 'zine is?

I know what a 'zine is.

I pretty much have to be a Millennial. I graduated high school in the 21st century and I'm still in my 20's (at least for another 11 months).

1984 is kind of straddling the Millenial/Gen X line.

Halfbreed! Daywalker! :cmad:

I heard that Adam Lambert will be guest starring on Glee this cominig season so I may have to watch when he's on...

Yes.

No...but I do remember his Calvin Klein modeling days and "Marky Mark and the funky bunch".

I was not old enough to see any of the OT Star Wars movies in their original run.

Yes I do.

No, but I always have quite a lot of change in my car.

I assume it's short for "magazine" but I've never heard it described as that...

im an inbetweener... Not quite a Gen X and not quite a Millenial, im a mesh of both

The Mark Wahlberg Test is the key. If you knew he was a rapper once without anybody telling you that as a historical fact, then you're an Xer. :p

I'm hardly a Gen X-er just because I can remember listening to the Funky Bunch when I was 7. :o

i didn't know who he was at the time ( i know all that now though) ... i was busy with my disney movies, nickelodeon, sega genesis, and thought MTV and pop music was too grown up for me. I was born in 85. I didn't really get into pop music till 4th Grade, with TLC haha
