lots of good stuff about Jon and resurrection mythology here. the corn king, cornflower, blue winter rose growing from the wall bit blew my mind.

What plot threads are you most excited about in TWOW? Marwyn and Old Town, for me.

The Battle of the Ice, however the hell it turns out. Just seeing a frozen landscape battle, with a blizzard presumably at some point just for epic points. And Stannis the Mannis gets fed some Freys like the Undertaker gets fed mid-carders.

The onset of winter is something I can't wait to see on the show. Someone, I think on this thread, mentioned how awesome it would be to see the first snowfall in the South and see the reactions of the main characters in that area, particularly if it was in King's Landing.

Battle of Fire has my attention. Ser Barristan going full King Arthur mode leading the young squires into battle, trying to teach them of honour and chivalry and all that good old fashioned stuff of legends as they ride out to face the Slavers surrounding them. The Shavepate no doubt plotting to usurp power in the confusion, the Harpy still about within the city. Volantian and Qartheen fleets bearing down on the Freedmen, Tyrion and Jorah with the Second Sons. All the while the wild card, undead Victarion and his Ironmen come into the fray ready to slaughter the Yunkishmen horde. It's gonna be ****ing biblical.

Yep. Because we need more Dornish sexposition with badass warrior chicks.

hunting... er.. killing things calms my mind

In the show I also care more about the Battle of Fire. We've seen a battle at the Wall so the Battle at Winterfell isn't likely to be all that different and if it takes place during a blizzard it will be near white out conditions so the exterior fighting will be limited. Whereas the Battle of Fire has massive dragons burning people and Ser BAMF Barristan tearing **** up!

Yeah, if they followed the books it'd probably be a perfect Neil Marshall episode. It would have the makings of one of the best episodes of television. Too bad it's either being massively cut down or straight up removed.

Do we have evidence it's being cut down or out?

Some, if you look at casting and narrative choices, not to mention set pics.

For one, the situation in Meereen itself is very likely to be different. The Green Grace, prime candidate for the Harpy hasn't been cast, neither has any of the other important Meereenese courtiers, such as the Shavepate or the Perfumed Seneschal. So that plot line will be different, likewise there's been a conspicuous absence of Ser Barristan during the set pics of Drogon's attack and several of the action set pieces involving Daenerys, with some speculating that Barristan will be the one who is poisoned instead of Strong Belwas and that Daario will take up the role of the Hand of the Queen. Likewise, on the Sellsword side of things there's no Brown Ben Plumm or Tattered Prince in the show, which wipes away another few players and alters stuff in regards to Tyrion and Jorah. And as GRRM has pointed out, Xaro Xoahan Daxos and Pyat Pree are dead in the show which causes a Butterfly Effect given that the Qartheen fleet are another major threat in the Battle.

And then there's the Greyjoys, or more specifically Victarion and Moqorro. Admittedly, we don't know what the situation is with the Greyjoys, as there've been conflicting accounts as to whether they've been removed from the show entirely or if (as some places have reported) that Victarion and Euron are simply being pushed back to season 6, in which case would be feasible to accommodate that aspect of TBoF. But if they are removed, then that also takes out Dragonbinder which is the fuse to set off the ticking bomb that is Rhaegal and Viserion.

It's too early to tell with any real certainty, but just looking at the facts that are available now, a good majority of the important players have been removed or shifted. So if we do get something like that, then it'll be greatly reduced or straight up it's own thing. I could be wrong, and I hope I am, but it's a hazy situation right now.

Time to stick a knife in it. Malko is apparently going to be a slaver. I was hoping he'd be the show's Moqorro. The Greyjoys and dragonbinder don't look to be in the possible Battle of Fire, but they did namedrop King Cleon last season. So greatly reduced, it seems.

It'll be pretty unrecognisable if it's in. Though the Battle in the Ice might be a different matter. Of course they've cut out the Manderlys, Crowsfood and ****esbane Umber, but I'd have to assume the Freys will make a return in force for the Bolton occupation of Winterfell. They set it up well enough at the end of season 3, plus there was Walda in season 4.
