Speaking of Theon connections:
did anyone else notice a section of "Pay the Iron Price" played when he took out Myranda?

Ramsay's armor in the books was pretty cool. It looked like skeletal muscle.

could you imagine the Sansa rape scene... if Ramsay also made Reek ......uh... do what he does....

yea they play it when he grabs sansa and runs... also... i guess Ramsay will be sending the pink letter to the iron islands now? if at all? i sure as hell hope they don't just drop that story line of ramsay/reek lol

The pink letter seems to still be in play for Jon. Especially considering the rumors for episode 9.

But Jon doesn't have Sansa or Theon lol

I don't really see how the Pink Letter could be all that shocking either, in the current context. Part of what made it so powerful was Ramsay(supposedly) mentioning Mance, Stannis, and calling out Jon and Melisandre's lies before the whole North, and THEN threatening anihilation. Which also doesn't quite work, post-FTW.

But the narrative point of it is calling out Jon, and considering what is happening in 9, I can totally see that happening.

The pink letter was written by Mance Rayder in an attempt to cause an uprising with the Wildlings at the Wall, that can just work with Thormund seeing Jon's corpse and going ape at the crows.

that doesnt really work in the show.

How come? The Wildlings have a giant and outnumber the crows?

because Mance literally died in 3 minutes in the premiere. i doubt they were letting him write any letters.

Ah so my engrish caused the misunderstanding, my point is:
- In the books Mance wrote the letter.
- In the tv show, there won't be any letter but Jon's corpse is what causes the Wildlings to rebel.

I am starting to think that they really are trying to wait for George.

Imagine what would happen if the whacky hobbit followed Reek to the Iron Islands and discovered ironborn culture.

I am starting to think that they really are trying to wait for George.

I hope after the upcoming book is published Martin returns to help write scripts. Forget finishing ASOIAF for a while. That would help keep the books and show somewhat together, I think.

I'd rather him focus solely on the books. Finish his story so we dont keep getting disappointed by the shows story :o

I second Reek's motion. Him having a firmer hand on the show's course would be fantastic, but I'd rather his books be his top priority when it comes to his day job.

So do you think Jon's return is something they'll keep hidden in-show by having Jon go about the North in a Coldhands-inspired costume, or be more straightforward with it?

I think it will be hidden for the first 2 episodes or so, but hinted at. then he'll be the big moment in ep 3 or 4. like 'Dracarys' big.

Ep 9 is rumored to have a huge battle in the snow... Ramsay/Boltons/Karstarks vs Jon/Wildlings/Possibly Umbers.

I hope that's a bogus rumor. They might as well put orcs and goblins in Ramsay's army if that happens.

What? It could be what we had hoped the stannis battle would be. I would love to see Jon retake Winterfell and kill Ramsay.

You know Jon is going to win and go on to do bigger things, with Stannis there was always the looming possibility that he would fail just as much as Bolton was. Theres no tension in the rumoured scenario, because it's stereotypically good vs evil and at this point in the story it would dictate that good win. That's something for Lord of the Rings, and not Game of Thrones/ASOIAF.
