So that clip seems like [BLACKOUT]those 'Sansa is pregnant' theories[/BLACKOUT] aren't true?
Thank the Maker.

The Stannis battle in TWOW sounds a lot different, more strategy based.
The Stannis battle? Yes. But sadly that ship sailed last year, and in a crappy manner. But I still think we are getting Bastard Bowl in the books as well.

I think Bastard bowl in the books, if it happens, won't be the armies of the North vs the Boltons. Everything in ADWD points to them being in such a precarious situation with Stannis and the Red Wedding hatred, the actual conflict will destroy them as a political and military faction within the North. Roose is already struggling to holding everything together as it is and every lord of the North wants them dead and gone besides the Karstarks, and Stannis had them dealt with in one of the earliest chapters of TWOW. I'd say we're getting mutually assured destruction, with Ramsay escaping with his boys.

I could see a smaller conflict, between Jon/Mance and a handful of Ramsay's psychopaths, but beyond that I think it's stretching things. I think Ramsay's going to get a less dignified death, perhaps at the teeth of his own hounds, and Jon's got bigger fish to fry.

Jon's a chef... a good chef... try his fish pie

So...any guesses on Tyrion's plot this season? Could he and Varys try to get reinforcements from the temples of R'hllor to deal with the Harpies and Wise Masters - and could the Masters get ahold of Varys' little birds, feed them false information, and end up leading Meereen into a war against Yunkai?

Exactly.

But that would require the storytelling to show a lot of shift in time, proper pacing and Stannis' tactics having small strikes, but big wins.

Having a massive battle might be generic, but it's more doable for general audiences, who will see it as "cool" and "epic" even though if Jon Snow is there, there is no drama or weight to worry that Jon would bite the dust.

They could've done it through brief reports given to Lord Bolton early in the episodes after Stannis left Castle Black. General stuff that gives the audience an idea that Stannis is winning through guerilla warfare.

Yeah, but what's done is done.

Just have to try and stay positive. =)

Supposedly it's another internal affair. While Dany's gone there's a massive food shortage and as the city starves Tyrion has to the hold the city together as the Harpies attack. It's been confirmed that he sees Shae during a delirious vision, and that Varys leaves at some point to travel to Dorne.

With the shortened lifespan of the show I wouldn't expect any kind of war like we got in the books. Dany basically has to come back from the Vaes Dothrak, gather her force at Meereen, and then head to Westeros by the end of the season.

Varys in Dorne...do we know if this coincides with Siddig's one episode?

I don't forsee a happy ending for the Meereen situation. I expect it to be burned down by the dragons, ravaged by the Dothraki, creating a situation where the old masters and newly freed slaves have to come together to save themselves.

It could do. Both Varys, and I think, Olenna Tyrell are in Dorne this year and have scenes with at least Hotah so I assume that this all happens in the one Siddig episode.

Episode 1 details:

With a level of frenzied anticipation among fans matched only by the unprecedented, ultra-tight reporting restrictions, the sixth season of Games of Thrones premiered in Los Angeles last night.

The only single audience to see the season opener ahead of its television premiere on April 24, we packed into Hollywood’s famous Chinese Theatre, draped with pennants from the Great Houses of Lannister, Stark and Targaryan.

Because this is the first season in which the show dramatically departs from the narrative published in George RR Martin’s series A Song of Ice and Fire, even the most avid fans of the books have no idea what’s coming next. And that’s the way the show’s creators want to keep it.

Precious few press were given access, and those of us that were, were given a stern warning: anyone revealing spoilers or plot points would face excommunication, or, worse, be married off to Ramsay Bolton.

Following on directly from the final scene of season five, season six opens back at the exact same snowy spot where the last tragic, bloody episode ended.

And it’s a melancholy, mournful curtain-up, dark in both visuals and tone, suffused with sorrow, grief and loss.

Heavy on violence and brutality, but lighter than many episodes on sex and nudity, the opener is the expected epic scenes of armies on the march, along with defiant declarations to avenge the dead.

"The Red Woman" of the episode’s title, the mystical Melisandre – who was left at Castle Black along with Jon Snow’s corpse as season five closed – in no way dominates the action, but by the hour’s end, with a luridly surprising twist, sets the scene for some powerful sorcery to come.

Other prominent female characters forging alliances make for a pleasingly feminist flavour to the events. The biggest cheer from the audience was reserved for the dramatic appearance of Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie), finally fulfilling a long-held ambition and making her loyal presence felt.

Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark, has promised that audiences will see "Sansa take command" this season. And judging from the first hour of action, she’s certainly on her way, the long-suffering lady no more.

Elsewhere in the Seven Kingdoms, the women are taking control too – in some regions, terrifyingly so.

Meanwhile, Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark, has commented that fans will "hate" this season. Certainly, in regards to her own much-loved young character, the opening episode is not an easy watch.

The burning question (no Melisandre-related pun intended) on every fan’s lips, of course – is Jon Snow really dead? – cannot be answered here.
Kit Harington, who plays Snow, had reportedly been spotted filming on the Game of Thrones set in Northern Ireland, but was notably absent from the red carpet last night.

Game of Thrones producer Bryan Cogman: says Season 6 not as dark as Season 5

Yesterday, we reported that Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss called Season 6 the most brutal season yet, at least from a production standpoint. Now, producer/writer Bryan Cogman is telling Entertainment Weekly that Season 6 isn’t as dark as Season 5.

Bryan Cogman said:
All of them [central characters] are now trying to rebuild their lives. Season 5 was in many ways our darkest. This season is still very dark, very intense, but it’s very much a next act.

Hopefully not too safe. I like it when my faves have their backs against the wall. That sorcery teaser's interesting.

I was reading some of the cast interviews over on WotW. Tom Wlaschiha commented that the movers and shakers in the House of Black and White probably know about what's happening north of the Wall. Ya'll think they're training Arya with the intent of using her Winterfell connection to procure something dealing with the White Walkers?

Theres always been that theory that Melisandre was actually very old and only looks the way she does because of a glamour....I wonder if that's possibly the "lurid" sorcery it mentions.

instead of a demon baby.... dust.

There's some spooky smoke in that one Davos pic. Could it be her demon dust?

I have seen a vision in the dust my king. It's blowing away swiftly like your presence in the show.
