It caught me a little off guard to be honest. Like in retrospect it makes perfect sense but that was some creepy ****. They really spent some time on it too. Pretty trippy **** to be honest.

Yes, it's a fact that Gendry and the Sand Snakes don't carry their family names, but I look at their bloodlines rather than what names they go by.

If you can't handle her at her old, gray and saggy, you don't deserve her at her young, red and supple! :argh:
So be it. :waa:

Still rooting for Melisandre solely to revive Jon Snow.

Were we also supposed to feel bad for it? Now it has a chance to redeem itself by bringing back our boy.

The Dorne situation pretty much ruined what was otherwise a decent episode. You see it and wonder why they even went to Dorne at all last season.

It's a shame, because the characters they killed off were essentially the only parts of Dorne they got right.

I personally loved the Dorne stuff and can't wait to see the fallout from the coup that Ellaria and the Sand Snakes have staged.

I have to agree and say the Dorne stuff felt tacky as **** and kind of a ****ing mess.

It was shocking, but it make sense. Overall, I thought the entire episode was great. Other than Dorne. What a waste that stuff is.

honestly at this point they might as well just drop an anvil on the heads of the sand snakes so we can all be done with this embarrassment of a plotline

oberyn is rolling in his grave

It's such a damn shame that the Dorne stuff completely sucks ass because Oberyn was such a cool character. His death was supposed to set up an exciting storyline, but make me roll my eyes. The only two good parts of the Dorne storyline were as follows.

More Bronn. And Tyene's wonderful boobs.

...but other than that, rot in hell Dorne storyline.

:down

I liked the scene where Theon's hugging Sansa. You think back to his scenes from season two with Maester Luwin, him executing Ser Rodrik, and then everything that's happened to him since then...it was very touching.

I said Theon. You're a treacherous shell of a man (who more likely than not cannibalized a valued member of our Lounge community).

That's an even better compliment...

Yeah they completely butchered the Dorne stuff, like to an astonishing degree. Literally nothing that was truly interesting or unique about that place or it's characters, is in this show (well besides Oberyn, he was still cool). And WOW did they do a number on Ellaria's character as well.

Ellaria is basically the exact opposite of her book self, and that's NOT a good thing. And this shows fetish for revenge (newsflash showrunners, Martin's books tended to paint revenge as a BAD thing that did more harm than good, and Ellaria was one who recognized that fact) is getting tedious.

Oh and don't even get me started on Sansa's arc since last season. I could rage on that for hours. Oh and what a complete and utter waste of Alexander Siddig as well.

Regarding Ellaria... shes not even remotely similar to how she was in season 4 lol bookwise and show wise season 4 Ellaria would not have done any of this ********

Not true.

There's still one Baratheon (Gendry) and 8 Martells (the Sand Snakes) hanging around.

There will be more Baratheons and Martels. Robert and Doran would have had cousins.

We saw how many Lannister cousins there were.

They don't. Robert, Stannis and Renly were the only children of Steffon Baratheon, who was himself an only child. It's the same with the Martells, as Doran, Elia and Oberyn's only other Martell relative was their uncle Lewyn Martell, a Kingsguard Knight in service to the Mad King who died in the battle of the Trident.

The "stand off" (I still don't get the point there?) at Castle Black will last until nightfall, is hedged on 'the red woman', cut to.... Mel gingerly going to bed.

It was an oddly structured scene. I think ultimately it works but yeah it was trippy.

the stand off doesn't even make sense considering Davos and co have given no reason to be defending a dead body.

Okay, I know some folks are thinking with Ellaria and the Sand Snakes killing Doran and Trystane that it feels like all the Dorne stuff from last season feels like a waste, but I think there's a possibility we're not considering.

What if, on the show at least, Doran Martell and Varys have been working together this entire time, with the goal of putting a Targaryean on the throne? In this case, it happens to Daenerys. We all know why Varys wants this, but for Doran, it's revenge against the Lannisters pure and simple. But of course Doran, unlike Oberyon, is far more prudent, less direct, and patient-- qualities of someone who thinks long term. Which is what Varys has been doing in King's Landing all this time, helping to create the conditions in which the Lannisters would self-destruct, allowing for Daenerys to come in and take over. If Doran and Varys were in cahoots, then Doran would know all about this, hence why he seems so "passive" even over the death of Oberyon.

However, with Varys out of the city, he needs someone else the finish the job. So he agrees with Trystane betrothal to Myrcella because that puts him right inside the Lannister household and on the Small Council, where he could easily act of Doran's spy. But he also has to have somebody in King's Landing to turn the people against the Lannisters so that when Dany arrives with whatever army she has, combined with the army Dorne's, and with King's Landing in disarray, the people would welcome them as liberators. And who could Doran send to cause such dissent against the current royal house?

How about the High Sparrow?

But of course, Ellaria didn't know about any of this, so her and the Sand Snakes killing Myrcella, Doran, and Trystane, they've now potentially jeopardized years worth of careful planning. Just a theory, mind you.

understand this is the book readers thread... some things may be spoiled for you if all that is properly answered...
