Game of Thrones - Book Readers' Thread

Holy cow... :o They can announce a few seasons in a row like that? Wow...

Game of Thrones is a cultural phenonomen and finally surprassed even Sopranos.

It's HBO's biggest cash cow. So yeah announcing not one, but two seasons is a good sign of faith.

I think it could go 10 seasons before it all ends.

Highly doubt that. That, to me, would say they're slowing to a crawl just to let GRRM get his **** out there. I really don't think they're going to do that.

TWD, sure. But not this...

Well kudos...I've really never read the books. But I wish the cast and crew and everyone else good luck on the future of GoT...I hope it doesn't fail.

Can't wait for the finale which is 66 minutes long.

Wait so if there is a non spoiler thread, does this mean that this thread will be discussing spoilers from the next two books without spoiler tags? Because I'm in the middle of AFFC.

The split between threads is irritating. If people are putting **** in spoiler tags and people are not caught up, SPOILER ALERT: Don't ****ing open it.

I've been spoiled a few times here before I opened a single spoiler tag. If something's in tags I don't see the point of the complaint.

Last weeks episode was so boring I think the whole Jon Snow wildlings storyline just isn't needed at all.

Haha. I can understand someone saying it was a bit boring in prior seasons but it's getting paid off right now.

Ya know what's really irritating? Not having our own damn section. That's irritating.

At this point, I'm 100% confident that the show will actually pass the books. Truly unprecedented stuff.

They've already planted the seeds. Quite a few events are happening far earlier in the show than they did in the books.

If the show passes the books that's just plain irresponsible on Martin's part. Think about it, he's got three years until season 7. That means he's got three years to write book 7.

He hasn't even finished book 6. There was a 5 year gap between ASOS and AFFC, and a 6 year gap between AFFC and ADWD. How does the show NOT pass the books? The guys twice as preoccupied now as he was then, what with the show's success.

Depends how they do episode 10, because right now it looks like they'll still have plot threads from book 3 running into season 5.

That's what I mean... some of us would like to read the books before watching the show. So instead of that choice, I have to miss out on the show in favor of waiting for a book that could take five years to get published? Needless to say, that's just ridiculous.

GRRM's editor said in a recent interview that its possible that there will be 8 books instead of 7 so if you really intend to stop watching the show and wait to read the rest of the books it is going to be a very long time. At the rate Martin writes, it going to be around a decade before the final book is released. You're better off to just continue watching the show. Its ending wont be exactly like the books for the simple reason that it is an adaption. The books will always be more fulfilling whether youve seen the show's ending or not cause those books will have many more details and take slightly different approaches and paths. So I dont see much reason to stop watching the show. But that's just me. I dont have the patience to stop watching the show and wait on George to get these books out.

Wow, they sure do things differently in the High Garden. They even have modern clothes, beds, clothing and electricity.
