I'm going to reserve judgement until after next week, but... yeah, they have a lot to get to in a short period of time (even with an extended episode). I just hope they can do it justice. I have faith that they can. But man, an extra episode or two would have been so nice.

They missed out probably the most important part of the Battle of Castle Black.

It DID need more time.

Exactly. I'm not really sure what his post was trying to achieve other than condescension.

Ending the episode with "Stannis! Stannis! Stannis!" would have been brilliant and made a lot of the viewers go "Whaa-!?" because there hasn't really been any build-up to him going to the Wall (fortunately). I was surprised when I first read it, but now it's just going to be another part of the finale.

While I did enjoy this episode, it did drag quite a bit for me. I'm not a huge fan of the wall stuff I find it all quite slow and samey for the most part, and I spent most of this episode waiting for someone else to arrive at the wall which obviously never happened.

I did love the look of it all and seeing the giants in action and the mammoths come and seeing Mance again but the rest wasn't as enjoyable, I'd have liked a bit of something else to break it up a bit. Especially as it now seems that the next episode is going to be packed with an almighty amount of stuff.

FINALLY! Ive never liked her. I hate that Jon even grieved for this treacherous word that rhymes with witch

I mean, Walking Dead has a sub-forum. Why, because it's a comic series? Unfair prejudice against the comically-disabled, I say. Even though Game of Thrones has a comic book series, and graphic novels based on the Dunk and Egg stories. And Transformers and GI Joe get full-fledged forums. They were toys! Toys!

FOOOOOOOORUUUUUUUUUM.
Friggin Heroes had its own subforum when it was on the air

Agreed, it really needs it's own sub forum
IA. I never understood why it hasn't considering how big this is

Poor Ygritte. Another good character whose flame was untimely snuff'd.

On the whole, I liked the episode. The character moments were rich and the cinematography was spectacular (esp. the 360 shot at the end showing the fighting on various levels.)

This is superherohype, a comic book forum.

Walking Dead is based off a comic and heroes was a superhero thing. Game of Thrones having spin-offs =/= subforum here.

What about House Whent?

Oswell was the greatest knight to ever live. If Jaime likes your humor then you must be a great specimen.

Hollywood needs to let Neil Marshall make movies again. Marshall is awesome.

Yeah, Marshall is awesome. Dog Soldiers, The Descent, Centurion and this GOT episode are all fantastic. Loved that tracking shot of the courtyard battle. And we finally got a sense of just how massive the wall really is and why it is an effective defense.

Can't wait to see what Marshall does with Constantine.

I'm thinking this is why it was cut short. I kind of expect that the finale to the battle will be next week. They might need 15 minutes and didn't want to cut it down to 5, so instead they ended this episode at a logical point and will devote the time to it in the next episode.

One of the scenes from the trailer from this episode was of [BLACKOUT]mounted soldiers cutting down wildlings in the forest [/BLACKOUT]and that didn't happen in this episode, so it must be coming next time.

Maybe that exclusion was a stylistic choice. Next episode would feature (HEAVY spoilers for A Storm of Swords)

the fall of Tywin Lannister, essentially a beginning of the end for King's Landing, and a recognition of the real threat to Westeros symbolized by the rise of Stannis Baratheon. It is also worth mentioning that the supernatural elements will be moving into focus in this episode: Bloodraven, more from the White Walkers, the children of the forest, more likely than not Lady Stoneheart. All of it coincides with Tywin's demise.

Plus I think that they wanted to end season four with all the main players for season five in place.

I hope the general audience remembered that Janos Slynt played a big part in Eddard's death so they could also revel in him being a little *****.

Pyp and Grenn :( Jon is running out of friends. [BLACKOUT]Doesn't Sam leave??[/BLACKOUT] Not read that far yet. Edd needs to stick around.

Giant arrows, mammoths, the vows with Grenn, the scythe. Loved almost every minute of the episode.

Can't wait for LS, and pretty much everything else that will happen next week.

[BLACKOUT]It's possible that Brienne gets caught by the Brotherhood sooner than in the books, like people suggested, and she bites one of the member's ears off in a struggle. Which would lead to Stoneheart revealing herself, and having Brienne go from enraged to shock. Sounds like a good ending to me.[/BLACKOUT]

Brienne's storyline should end [BLACKOUT]with her new commission, to bring it full circle.[/BLACKOUT]

Great episode of this ongoing GREAT TV SHOW

Loved the Mammoths and Giants the Giant Archer was awesome

The Ginger Mint line was hilarious

Great that the young Kid that lost his parents was the one who killed
Yngritte

Pip death was very emotional surprised by that

only one episde left then the long grinding wait for next season

That sounds about right, but [BLACKOUT]the majority of the Stannis at the Wall stuff would have been in Episode 10 anyway. I don't think people were expecting to see anything like Jon being offered Winterfell, but to have the episode end with the knights cutting down wildlings and the entire army breaking and fleeing, and ending on Stannis leading the charge and looking up at the Wall would have been fantastic. It also fits since E09 is the "game-changer" episode.[/BLACKOUT]

They made a point multiple times tonight that Jon isn't Commander.

I think it's safe to say that next episode will have him declared Commander and that will be the last we see of him in the finale. Them declaring him Commander the music rising and smash cutting to someone else's scene. Similar to the scene where Rob is being declared King in the North in Season One's finale.

Exactly my thoughts, as well.
The same reasons, and the same way in which I pictured it would happen on screen

So many idiots on Tumblr blaming George R.R. Martin for the deaths of [BLACKOUT]Pyp and Grenn [/BLACKOUT].
