Game of Thrones General (Non-Book Related) Discussion Thread - Part 1

a Wiki of Ice and Fire's chapter summaries... they are cute... they are cuddly... they are your friends.

Perfect for the not so serious, non-hardcore, casual, (pathetic) crowd. :woot:

HI I also imagine.

I am a very big GOT fan.
I would be happy to exchange with others about the series and even more I would be glad to meet new Got Fan from Austria. Or. New Players for the game Game of Thrones to find the board game.

Can anyone who write who the admin would have a question to Him and how I can write him.

THANK YOU

It's amazing how HUGE this show has gotten in the past 6 years. were any of you guys fans prior to the start of the series?

I remember downloading a few episodes around july 2011. At the same time I was watching some of The Borgias (on Showtime with Jeremy Irons). Something about this show caught my eye though I seriously had no idea it was based on novels. I was more shocked an American wrote it.

I jumped on right when season 1 ended.

I was a Jennifer Ehle fan and checked out her IMDB page back in 2009-2010 and the GoT name caught my eye because it sounded medieval-ey, a genre that interests me and so I checked out the premise and cast of GoT which interested me even more then I made sure to tune in to the first ep and I have been glued-in ever since.

Me too, I was massively shocked that an American wrote it.

For some reason I haven't discussed the show that much on this board but I had read all the available books before they announced the show, and ASOIAF is one of my favorite things, so I've followed the production from it's start.

I never expected it to become this big though, and it was even hard to imagine how they could adapt the vast and complex story and do it justice when they'd have to remove so much of it.

The show has done it in a great way though and some of my favorite things have been scenes that couldn't be in the books, due to how they are structured with POV characters. Especially Tywin Lannister was a joy to follow. I do think the writing quality when they've changed plots, or gone past the books, has been a bit lower though.

I can't remember the exact point I jumped on but it was related to season 3. Either just before, during or just after.

I tuned in from the first episode, mainly because of Sean Bean and Peter Dinklage. I was instantly hooked, and I read the books after season one ended.

Did you know Dinklage before GoT?

I started a few episodes into season 1 after reading my brother's FB feed raving about it. I decided to check it out and fell in love. I've since done my part to convert people. Just got a friend to start watching and he's hooked!

I saw the first couple of episodes a long, looong time ago, possibly around season 2, and I thought to myself "I like this, but it is heavy on names, locations, and stuff, I'm gonna put it on hold". And so I did. I saw the six seasons in about a month, a year ago or so.
This is the first season I'm watching 'live'.

I started watching from the beginning and never read the books. I too was a little overwhelmed by all the moving parts with all these similar names and their political affiliations with each other etc. So I jumped on the net to learn a bit about what I was having trouble understanding and never had a problem since. I have read the books in between seasons of the show airing. I'm really concerned that a lot of what I would imagine happening in the books won't have the time to be explored on the show. Most of it having to do with Bran and the Night King's stories.

I started watching from the beginning because of the hyped promotion. I had never even heard of the books.

I don't remember exactly but I believe I jumped on board during season 3. I've read all the books since then.

Yeah, besides his more famous role in Elf, I liked him in Prince Caspian and Death at a Funeral. I've yet to see The Station Agent, which he's supposedly brilliant in.

was there a big promotion when it began? I wanna say it was around spring 2013 when like everybody was getting it it.

And by season 6, literally everyone you knew was into the show or knew someone who was.

I knew him from playing a recurring role on Nip/Tuck and also in Death at a Funeral. Years after I saw him on GoT, I saw him in The Station Agent. Real good performance there.

I knew Dinklage from Death at a Funeral and 30 rock.

There was a lot of press about the show being HBO's next big thing and about it being a big budget fantasy sword and sorcery tv show (which is pretty rare).

I knew dinklage from station agent.

I saw him in Caspian but must have forgotten the link by the time of GoT. Will have to check out The Station Agent. What kind of film is it?

Ah looks like everyone knew him from somewhere, cool. Wish I'd jumped on from the start and been part of the Day 1 hype. Must have been crazy after that first episode delivered so well.
