Game of Thrones General (Non-Book Related) Discussion Thread - Part 1

Well Ned and Robb don't have heads so that probably rules them out.

So the starks bury their relatives in the crypts, something tells me a slew of dead Stark’s could be showing up.
Slew? There’s only like 4 left...lol

Yes - I'm not a huge fan of Gendry to begin with, but that was just all weird to me. Arya is my favorite character, so that kind of felt...just weird.
Last time he saw her, she was like 11. It’s weird to see him having sex with her after being around her for a few hours

Where did Robb's body end up? (absurd thought- sewing the wolf's head on made it whole again, and we could see that on the battlefield *shudder*)

we see it as a few hours yes but I know last 2 seasons they have done a lot of warping but if we take into account the actual travel time between escaping the gold cloaks to going to hardhome and they captured by the brotherhood that could easily have been a year of bonding between them and remember Hot pie was just concerned about his dam recipe's lol so he was "out to lunch" for most of that bonding lol

Just watched it again....

Jon's been giving Dany the cold shoulder since he found out so I'm sure Dany sensed that something is up. Jon's timing was still bad though. I mean I get why he decided to finally spill the beans since they're talking about Lyanna and all that but doing it the night before a big battle is just too risky. Dany could've ended up pulling out her forces or he might find himself 'accidentally' barbecued by one of her dragons.

I feel like Jamie and Brienne's fates next week will be died. Like one will die saving the other. I know the rest will be "close but not too close" to Bran and it's poetic but Theon being Bran's main defense is not... good.

So based on next week's preview and the trailers before, it looks like the crypt will be attacked.

Loved this episode. So many feels and chuckles and smiles. I'm dreading the next episode and eagerly awaiting it.:(

My one complaint is Jon, on the one hand I get why he waited. He didnt want it distracting anyone before the battle. On the other hand, waiting until the last minute to tell Dany is just bad bad bad. He's left her no time to process it. No time for him and her to discuss it. If they do survive they may not have time to discuss it for a while. He's left it to fester.

I just hope she gets a chance to remember that she loves him and he loves her and if they got married it wouldnt really matter who has the better claim. They could decide how they rule the Kingdoms and their children would be the heirs. The North would be happy with Jon as King and that's good for Dany as Queen.

At this point I'm kinda at the point where there are no real "throw away lines" and right now there are three lines from episode one that are jumping out.

We have Vary's line of "nothing lasts" which was a nice follow up to Davos's "What if we were ruled by a just Queen and a Honorable King" and Dany's "We could stay here for a 1000 years and no one would find us"

I think the rollercoster that is Jon/Dany is just beginning.

Dany isnt insane. Her behavior and decisions and reactions are entirely justifiable in the context of her life and experiences and the fact shes been fighting a war for survival her entire life.

A lot of folks dont look at it from Dany's perspective sadly. Both Jon and Dany are having an identity crisis. A false identity was forced upon Jon to keep him safe, but now the truth of who he is is eating at him. Whereas all Dany ever had was her name and identity and now her world view is just as shattered as Jon. Both of them had come to accept what they thought were their places in the world...but now everything has changed.

Vary's must know it's true too if little finger knew that Rhaegar loved Lyanna so must of Varys
I just hope we don't get battlefield betrayals over information no one has processed yet

So they've really been emphasizing the Winterfell crypts. Wonder why.

Jon saw what the Night King did at Hardhome when he raised his hands and the dead rose with them, so it's just madness to put the women and children where the Starks have stored their dead for centuries! How many corpses are down there awaiting reanimation?

But I also suspect that the way out may be down there as well. Back in Season 2, when Theon and the Ironborn were besieged at Winterfell by Ramsay and the Boltons, Maester Luwin told Theon that there are secret ways out of Winterfell that he could use to escape. I think that's about to become necessary!

You’re not getting it. The NK awakens the dead to serve him. The crypts are full of dead people (Starks). If the NK awakens the dead in the crypts, the people who are hiding in there may have a huge problem.

oh wow didnt think of that. I got it now

yeah but only rickon should be able to be resurrect by the Night King because the rest should be nothing more as bones

the wights that frighten arya are rickon lyanna and maybe even catelyn ...

no i dont know lol. but jon said put rickons body down there. after BoB

Rickon should be nothing but bones as well. I can see any one of the Starks brought back for dramatic effect. In the grand scheme of thing it will be a minor thing to nitpick and I dont think TPTB will care much

Even if the NK can raise the dead in the Winterfell crypts, they're all in coffins, aren't they? And as we found out last season, if you put a wight in a box and seal it shut, they're not strong enough to get out.

Rickon was freshly put down there how would he be just Bones?
either way I see
Theon dies protecting Bran, Brienne will die after getting knighted i'm like 99% sure of it and Beric and Tormund die aswell next week

Many of the wights are little more than skeletons, and if raised by the Night King they have the power to burst forth out of frozen ground or ice as they did before the lair of the 3ER (at the end of Season 4), or comparably to push off a sarcophagus lid if it's not locked shut!

The one wight transported to King's landing was in a box locked with chains.

Yeah I'd say all the Starks (Rickon excluded) are past the point of return as far as being turned into White Walkers. Most of them have to be dust and bones by now.

Jorah and Greyworm are also 99.99% sure dying next week.

White Walkers are made from living people, like Craster's sons. Wights can be skeletons, as we've seen.
