Does 'Winter' only affect the northern reaches of Westeros, or will it cover everything all the way down to Dorne? Will it go over Essos too? Assuming no one defeated him, would the Night King's goal be to conquer northern Westeros, would he try to make it to Dorne, and would he cross into Essos too?

The whole world can be effected by Winter to varying extents. But in the Long Night that the White Walkers bring its a winter without end, North, South, Westeros, Essos, hundreds of years of eternal darkness and cold.

Without venturing into spoiler territory, has it been confirmed if Episode 9 will be completely comprised of the battle (like Blackwater or The Watchers on the Wall), or will the battle just take up half of the episode's length (like Hardhome)?

Kind of both... looks like there's only 2 things going on, the battle and something else.

The main theory going around now is that this rumor pertains to the

hidden, underground caches of Wildfire that the Mad King had planted throughout King's Landing and that Cersei will burn the city to the ground before submitting to the judgement of the Faith. We did see Wildfire igniting in Bran's recent vision download.

I believe that there may be a cache underneath the Sept of Baelor that she will wish to ignite to incinerate the High Sparrow and as many of his fanatics as she can. And I think the plan will go awry and accidentally kill Tommen who happens to be visiting the Sept, or the wildfire will cause a chain-reaction that sets other connected, hidden caches ablaze, possibly under parts of the Red Keep.

I just have a feeling that Tommen will die this season (a King dies every season: Robert 1, Renly 2, Robb 3, Joffrey 4, Stannis and Mance 5) and it would be tragically-poetic that Cersei be responsible for this one - her last child, her children being the only thing she's ever loved, cementing her final, bitter downfall and the fulfillment of the witch's prophecy from her youth.

It already did. The boy was Lancel Lannister who came forward about Cersei's illicit relationship with him as well as poisoning King Robert, and this got her thrown in the Sept dungeon.

It was scary as f***. There was no way they could survive the onslaught and when the night king raised the dead and turned them as part of his growing army...I got chills

I like the Red Woman...yay for Jon Snow. I hope those effers get what they deserve. I'm only 5 episodes away from the third episode which I'm currently watching. I this show.

The Smith could be Gendry
The Crone could be Mellisandre
The Maiden could be Sansa
The Warrior could be Jon
The Mother could be Dany
The Father could be Bran/3-Eyed Raven because of his knowledge of the ages
The Stranger could be Arya

thoughts? Yeah I know it's probably irrelevant but fun to think about.

One of the things about the Crone is that she is almost always shown with a lantern. Melisandre is always around fire. She uses fire for her magic too.

and yet they showed us that Mel is an old crone in the tv show. they talk about the Seven in the tv show. They make sure that Mel is almost always shown in the same frame as the fire in the tv show. The fire is key to her magic in the tv show. The Crone of the Seven is represented by an Old Crone with a Lantern. but yeah they're totally not trying to give huge hints on the tv show you are absolutely right.

The Seven are almost assuredly a load of made up horse ****.

R'hllor is real in some capacity. The Great Other may be some opposite to R'hllor and exist. The Old Gods whatever they were likely existed and may yet.

The Seven tho...they just seem like metaphors and similar to the old Roman and Greek gods. Pure made up horse****. Not remotely real or working in any capacity within GRRM's world. I dont think the Crone is in any way connected to Mel.
