Geeky Stuff You Just Can't Get Into

JRPGs

Dungeons and Dragons--Some of the worlds have great tie-in novels, but the game itself doesn't appeal to me.

Evil Dead

Never was into Pokemon card collecting
Dungeons & Dragons
Lego Sets

Which ones have you watched? Like I've said already. Start at season five. It's sort of a reboot. I can understand that being said about the first four seasons, but season five, hell no.

ill pass. Sorry.. but i can't take the Tardis, let alone the Daleks seriously... really? a bunch of R2D2 are going to kill you?

WHOA, a lot of hate for anime in this thread
I love some anime, but I don't blame you

D&D
Harry Potter
Doctor Who
Then there's RPGs on message boards. No way in hell can I do that.
Musicals. I hate musicals.

My geek test score was 15.49815%.

I'm the same with D&D, RPGs, and Harry Potter. I liked maybe two or three of the movies, and can't be bothered to pass page 14 of the first book. Never watched Doctor Who, but I like musicals a lot. Not listening to them, but actually going to them.

With Doctor Who I have a mild interest, but I just don't feel like it. It seems like there is a ton to catch up to, and the premise just isn't enough to get me to commit to all of that.

I mainly am nerdy in the sense of comic books (superheroes in general really) and some video games, however everything else kind of goes by the wayside. In order to give some specific examples, I couldn't ever really get into Star Trek as it was before my time. I couldn't really get into shows like the Big Bang Theory or Doctor Who (I kind of find them boring). While I may occasionally own a Batman shirt and a couple video game shirts, I never wore "nerd clothes" because in a sense it feels like trying to hard. The stuff on my shirts are things I actually like. I have friends who dress up at comic con and sometimes even at movie premieres, but I just couldn't really get into it really (plus it helps being black...so there's not much I could succesfully dress up as anyway). I have learned how to play some card games like Magic the Gathering through a couple friends, but it's not my cup of tea really.

I don't even care anymore. This thread is depressing and makes me weep for geekdom. It's six seasons, each 13 episodes. It's really not that much.

6 seasons is far too much for a show that I have almost 0 interest in.

In the midst of catching up to Burn Notice, 24, Savage Dragon, Slott's Spider-man run, all the video games I need to finish, those seasons aren't really too thrilling to get into. Plus there are other shows that I have on the menu like Battlestar Galactica and Ben 10: Alien Force and Ultimate Alien.

Ah, thought of another one. I've never been into first-person shooter games. For some odd reason, I hate video games where I can't see an external character running around. It's the same with racing games... I need to see the vehicle. I think I have some bizarre form of claustrophobia that only applies to video games, lol.

Also, in regards to musicals... as a former stage actor, I will always have a soft spot for them, but I think the problem with so many musicals is that they are SO easy to get wrong that it can easily take you out of it. One bad song or badly choreographed dance routine can ruin a show. And then you have some things that you just CAN'T turn into a musical (Spider-Man, anyone?) without it being stupid.

But I also think musicals are generally meant for the stage. They used to work well on film but since film itself became less theatrical and surreal, the more recent attempts at musicals all fall a little flat, IMO. Some shows just didn't work on film AT ALL because of the surreal nature of the show (Rent).

Same with TV... I can't get into Glee and I tried watching Smash and eventually gave up. There are clearly some really talented people on those shows but they just do nothing for me.

I don't know it first person shooters can be called geeky nowadays considering how popular they've become. Call of Duty seems to print money, and other series are selling like crazy numbers as well. At this point it may be considered geeky to not play them. Dun dun dunnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.

Yeah, that probably is true. But they're still videos game, so they have their roots in geek culture.

Welcome bro, welcome

I'm with you on that one

Finally found something geeky I can't get into.

Horror films like Saw and Hostel. I don't dislike horror films, but when there's gore just for the sake of there being gore, I just don't see the point.

Oh, and Steven King novels, with the exception of the Dark Tower, none of his work has interested me.
