I told myself I wouldn't watch the BTS. I told myself I didn't want to see too much or have anything spoiled. I told myself I could live without seeing a few minutes of footage that wouldn't even have VFX or dialog from the film in it.

So I just crumbled and watched it.

I used to enjoy reading through his Twitter, but now it seems like he exists just to make passive-agressive remarks at fans, and it seems like a lot of other people are becoming more and more sick of his attitude. Yes, I'm sure it's frustrating when fans constantly ask whether two characters are related, but it's not as if there's no precedent for coincidental family relationships in this franchise. At this point I don't blame fans for speculating that Darth Maul is Snoke and whatnot, it may sound unreasonable, but it's not hurting anyone.

Thing is, Pablo kind of used to have a point. I know he's still involved, but take my recollection of Episode III, when they were releasing an image every week from the film, had a camera for Hyperspace subscribers to check in on filming and whatnot, and despite the fact we knew it was to be about Anakin's fall, they were pretty forthcoming with what was to be in the film. We got toy previews a year in advance and could speculate endlessly over new characters we saw. He could talk about a lot going on in the universe.

Fast forward to now, Disney is such a secretive company. Yes, we do get leaks sometimes, but he can't talk about them. We get a teaser and some character posters, but no major images. We don't even get to see toys until Force Friday, a mere 3 months before the film, and usually not figures that would spoil anything. Even upcoming novels and stuff that might fill in areas of plot aren't really up for discussion if they relate to the films. He has his job at Lucasfilm, but as an extension of the company to fans, he's really forced to be tight lipped. I haven't read his posts to see the belittling stuff to fans, but I feel it's clear he basically just can't talk about the big stuff.

I understand that he can't spoil upcoming stuff, and I wouldn't want him to, but I don't understand why he has to be so snarky and condescending to fans who are just engaging in innocent speculation and theories that don't hurt anything. They may annoy him, but he should just quit reading them and responding to them if that's the case. He used to respond slightly tongue in cheek in a teasing manner, but now his comments are downright insulting, and he doesn't even try to hide it. His Twitter profile currently says "Beloved by Reddit jerks".

Also, isn't shooting down fan theories on his Twitter just as much a spoiler as any leak? From his Twitter account we can gather that:

Dumb fan theories or not, these are things that we don't need to know before going into the movie.

I understand it must be exhausting to be bombarded by questions all the time, but I think Pablo may need a healthy slice of humble pie. The intoxicating lure of internet snark is very strong indeed. I've been guilty of it, and you've probably been too. But he's in a position of authority here.

They are "dumb fan theories" for a reason. It is like complaining that someone has spoiled The Last Jedi for you by confirming Yoda and Han Solo are dead. These are well known facts, not spoilers. So debunking theses "theories" are not a problem. And if you don't want to know that stuff, don't go around reading these things.

As to Pablo. I don't really like him, so I don't read him. If you don't like him, don't read him. You say he could just ignore comments and stop responding. You can do the exact same thing, so why complain about it?

Those are a bit different since we already know Yoda and Han are dead. Even if it does sound silly, there was at least a small chance before that Snoke would turn out to be Plagueis, but now we know that won't happen thanks to Hidalgo.

I do agree with your second paragraph, I've actually stopped reading through his Twitter, I just stumbled upon this on Reddit and it kind of rubbed me the wrong way.
