Ghost Rider bumped to Feb of 2007 (Release Date Thread)

Oh, I getcha. I though I read that they wanted it during the fall... but I guess it said late fall now that I think about it.

Plus, there's no competition anyway. Ghost Rider would kick arse, hands down.

Are you sure? Transformers is going to be a HUGE film in my opnion and it's got a bigger fanbase than GR.

Perhaps. I'm not really sure about anything. I just have all the faith in the world in the Ghost Rider movie and very little for a Transformer movie... though I am very excited about the prospects of having one.

Are Transformers as big today as they once were? Are they anywhere close to what they were in the 80's? I've fallen out of touch with the whole thing personally.

They are not very big, only the toys remain, I think. I still hope that Ghost Rider gets moved up to a closer date, August 2006 seems a long way away. Maybe they will if they get the post-production done early.

It would be nice to have it as soon as possible, yes. I wouldn't want them to cut production too much though... or well have happen what happened to the X-men movie. Their production lost 6 months and the first movie suffered a little because of it.

I kinda figured Transformers were only big in toys these days. Are there any cartoons still? Like Beast Wars?

There used to be Transformers: Energeon, but I have not heard of it being on television lately. I have not seen the animal transformers for a long time.
MSJ will not let GR go the same way as X-men. He will get it done in due time, but I hope it is done earlier than planned, so it gets an earlier release date.

I think it'll depend on a lot more than just getting the movie done early to get the release date changed. These things are heavily weighed by the production company and aren't usually changed unless they fear major competition. Sometimes they gamble and keep the release date the same (like Punisher) and sometimes they risk confusing most people and change the release date (like FF). Either way, it's a huge gamble.

With filming underway right now (more than a year ahead of release) and with a budget that can't afford post-production special effects for a twelve-month period, do you think it's possible Ghost Rider's release date will be bumped up?

I mean, the film will DEFINITELY be in the can long before August 2006. So what would you think if the date was moved up to Spring of next year? Would this be viewed by everyone as a bad sign?

I'm just having a hard time knowing we have to wait this long when the film will obviously be ready beforehand.

the earliest that im hoping would be between may to july of '06.
Yes...i do think if it was pushed up to April it would look bad....almost like they dont have the confidence that GR would do well in the prime months of the Summer season. early Aug is fine i think although i hope they might be able to push it into late or mid July.
as far as waiting goes...ive waited for this film since it was just started to be talked about wayyyy back in 1983. if i can wait 20+ years for the GR movie i can wait one more and a few extra months. its no big deal really when you realize how long this thing has been in development hell. and i would rather have them take their time w/ almost a year of post production to get everything right than rush it out and end up w/ a crappy looking movie.

I Do NOT ever want to see this movie released before it's COMPLETELY ready to go.

If the release date was earlier, in the immorta words of Bill Lumbergh, "That would be greeeaaat." But, the later date just means they can be thorough with it and it means Mark Steven Johnson isn't just delivering another Daredevil. Better that they do it right and make sure they're being thorough in every aspect.

I just can't think about when it will finally hit Italy...
I sense i could become very depressed -_-;

I'd always hoped for a Halloween release, to tie in with the vibe of the comic! As much as I want to see it, I wouldn't want it released any earlier than August because late summer should keep it clear of the major, major summer blockbusters. I love Ghost Rider, but he doesn't have the profile of Spider-Man or Superman and wouldn't be able to contend with movies of that size.

I also feel very relieved that they're shooting now and still have well over a year for all the post-production stuff. Compare that to X-Men 3: due out in 12 months and they haven't even finished the script or fully cast it yet. I've got a horrible feeling they're going to rush that one and it'll suck.

the way i see it is starting this far in advance is a good thing,BB started shooting,Last January for A June 2005 release and the quality shows,I think giving MSJ plenty of post-production time is a great idea. The only move i would want to see is to mid-may or July

Yeah definitely; that X-Men 3 gives me a bad gut feeling, too bad Bryan Singer is most likely going to deliver a great Superman film and these new guys might possibly deliver a lame X-film. Thank you, Warner Brothers.

If they really plan on releasing X-Men 3 next year, they're crazy. They're completly insane to think it can be ready by then. Insane I say!

Singer... Superman... I dont' care. Give me Ghostie Poo... Yes. I said Ghostie Poo.

Absolutly. No rush, no bump in time unless the movie is done. And I mean, Done.

Cool little report. Thanks for the heads-up.

From the sound of it, they're swapping X-Men 3 and Ghost Rider's release dates. That makes sense, considering X-Men hasn't even started shooting yet.

So then, Ghost Rider released three months earlier than originally slated? That makes me very happy indeedy. Mw-ha-ha!

Great news.it makes sense to switch them around:up:

hope so too....May would be the best month.
also looks like the shotgun is indeed confirmed....but as we were talking so very long ago in another thread the gun wont look like an ordinary shotgun. interesting...

still worried about Blackheart though....the previous description of him looking like a "nosferatu like creature" isnt encouraging

Yeah I know a lot of post production is good for a film but until August?? That is crazy. May is perfect.

Awesome report! Great find and a great article which speaks about much more than the release date. Awesome.

May eh? I can't argue with that. That would mean that the movie would be out in almost exactly a year. It would start the summer season off with a blast much like Star Wars is doing right now. Awesome. I hope this is true. Not just for GR though either, for X-men too. If they plan on releasin' that in May, they're crazy. Too rushed.

BG, I too am worried about Blackheart. I didn't want hiim to differ too much from his comics in the first place and now he's more vampire than anything (so we here). I dont' understand why they wouldn't go with the comic version of BH. He's so freakin' awesome looking. I just read "Crossroads" and he looks fabulous in that one; all done up in an expensive suit. Nice stuff. Real nice.

This whole report from Wise, I tell you people, take it with a grain of salt.
Wise has not been back here to back up his claims... why? Personally I'm wanting to believe his report was falsified.
Now what I'm really wanting is for MSJ to come here and make another report! :)
But again, please, don't get worked up over Wise's report (unless you really want to). For my health and mental well-being I am not. :)
All the best,
Abe.
PS. As for May 2006? Ole`!!

Strange......MSJ says he is staying pretty close to the comics yet hes having grider use a shotgun. Best I can recall gr never used a shotgun, not even the western version. I think the western one used pistols.

not sure how i feel about that
