Sounds like they are taking a page from the second series of GR when Johnny Blaze teamed up with Ghost Rider (only after he tried to rub him out). He had a shot gun that would shoot hellfire.

I really hope GR is released in May!!.It has been filming for months, and they have plenty of time until May,but X Men 3 is rushed, they start filming this August and they had planned to release it May 2006...its too rushed,X3 needs more time and should be delayed...

Ghost Rider should open the first weekend of May!!:) .That would be perfect!,
I cant wait for the official announcement!

From the sound of it, they're swapping X-Men 3 and Ghost Rider's release dates.
Ghost Rider: Sony
X-Men: 20th Century Fox

Swap? No.
Distributer having a re-think on their release schedule plan to exploit an unexpected and preferable gap in the schedule of all releases, from both company and competitor? I'd be edging to that line of thinking myself. ;)

Yes,but both X Men and GR are Marvel properties, and Marvel has the power to push the release dates....

Strange......MSJ says he is staying pretty close to the comics yet hes having grider use a shotgun. Best I can recall gr never used a shotgun, not even the western version. I think the western one used pistols.

not sure how i feel about that

Well he also said he was taking piece's from the Blaze and Ketch universes,so im guessing he has just taken the hellfire shotgun idea from Blaze's participation in the ketch Series

I have been saying this for a long time Ghost Rider went into production months ago, there is no reason to not release this movie in May at this pooint, esspecialy when one considers how far behind X men is.

I didn't mean to suggest that the studios were collaborating. Of course not; they're competitors. What I meant was Marvel pictures presumably is able to exercise some kind of control so two of their properties don't end up butting heads at the box-office.

They might get some input, but those decisions aren't really theirs to make seeing as Marvel's contribution is in the capacity of a co-producer, not a distributor. Distribution companies are quite capable of making decisions about release scheduling, which is after all their side of the business, without having to take any cues from the producers who are more clearly associated with the creative side.

I have to disagree on that one. I'm pretty sure that Marvel works close enough with the studios to ensure their properities not face off with one another.

Its pretty hilarious people that think Ghost Rider will be next year's Star Wars. It won't come out in May either.

If anything its theatrical BO numbers in the US will be closer to Hellboy.

Yeah, everything I've read from Avi Arad and MSJ has been wildly optimistic. It's reassuring to hear that, but I hope they're not setting themselves (and us) up for a big fall. Even if it does have a 100 million'ish budget, even if it does have an A-list actor in the main role, Ghost Rider's still relatively unknown to most movie goers.

I'm keeping my expectations to a realistic level. I daredn't get too hyped up about it because if my favourite hero turns into a cinematic turd I'll just die. Nope, I'm just hoping for a solid, enjoyable, faithful film that doesn't get trounced by a movie with more drawing power. That's all.

:)

It would more likely be trounced by a movie with more drawing power in May than in August. August is where it will stay.

hmmmmm who said it would be next years star wars ?i said i thought it could be the new Terminator and i stand by that ,i think it will grab the audience through it's visuals,Do i think that it will be the #1 box office film of the year ? No,SR,POTC,Mi-3 will all probably beat it and perhaps the Davinci code, but i think it can be a sleeper hit

Pretty sure?

You used the term "studios" in reply to my post that included the distinction between production companies and distribution companies. I've never been a big fan of the movie studio 'produces, promotes and distributes movies' idea since there are numerous examples of different companies forming a chain to get those individual jobs done, so I generally avoid the idea myself. In other words your disagreement is a non sequitur. Not a good case for "pretty sure" IMO.

The point I was making was that the film distributer or distributers are the companies responsible for the distribution of movies. Marvel might like to see movies based off their comics avoid competition, but you have to remember that they sold their production/distribution rights to other companies, those companies in turn hand the distribution over to their distribution branches or partners and at the end of the day Marvel are a few steps removed from the calculations of "how many prints", "where" and "when" to release.

At any rate, Marvel won't have to worry about ensuring their properties not facing off with one another, as you put it. Firstly, the distributers will be limiting/eliminating such conflicts in their own best interest, and secondly, there's only about four Marvel comicbook adaptions per year to juggle in the first place. :)

Flamehead made the Star Wars comparison.

I just think there's a clear over-estimation of Ghost Rider's BO reception here.

Um... I never said that Ghost Rider would have a BO reception like Star Wars. Not many movies will have the reception these days.

What I did say was "It would start the summer season off with a blast much like Star Wars is doing right now". I was mearly stating that it would be the first big blockbuster movie of the season and not one of the last.

On a side note, I'm hoping that it blows Star Wars out of the water... and Titanic and whatever else stands in its way. Gotta have faith.

I would like to see The Flash made into a movie. I hear a lot of rumors about new movies. What comic would you like to see made into a movie next?

Well I'm going to say right now it won't be the first big blockbuster of the summer movie season. First because it isn't going to come out in May. Second, its not going to do huge business in theatres.

I had a horrible thought this morning after reading about Alan Moore distancing himself from V for Vendetta and a negative script review: what if Ghost Rider comes out after a string of comic film duds? Even if it surpasses our expectations, it could still tank because people are sick of comic movies. Fantastic Four is out soon and I still haven't seen anything that makes me excited about it. That'd be awful.

Oh God, now I'm depressed. Someone tell me it'll be alright. Please!!!

people will be excited about super hero movies in 2006, believe me. once the Superman promos hits the cinemas, people will be pumped!
and with ghost rider being the next superhero film after superman. oh boy. good times! :)

I'm hoping that by next year people will stop looking at these movies as one lump thing. Just because they source material is from a comic doesn't mean we can put all these movies in the same group. Ghost Rider is going to be much different than Superman, Spider-Man, Batman... and all the rest.

I wish we'd just start looking at these movies as movies.

As for FF, I'm VERY excited about it. I think it looks like a really fun movie.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I prefere to stay hopeful, personally.
