its fair to look at his last movie and be afraid that a new ghostbuster movie wouldnt work. i think Bill doest want to do the movie. but if Ramis had a mega hit he would think about it.

I would be more likely to think that Ramis has just been out of his element of late...

Times change, humor changes. And sometimes you just lay a dud. Lets not forget that the last big release film Ramis had directed before Year One was Analyze That. It was also the last film he personally wrote.

Harold Ramis is a funny man, but he's no gift to the craft. Sometimes he's not going to hit his mark.

I don't think that would be the case with a Ghostbusters film, though - its he and Aykroyd's baby. They wouldn't do it unless they'd really nailed down something they enjoyed.

Speaking of which , didn't Murray and Ramis have a falling out over this film.

Not sure, though from rumors it sounds like Bill Murray occasionally has a falling out with everyone. Guy's just... different. That certainly was the last of what had been a pretty consistent run of projects where they were both involved.

All the original Ghostbusters should be retired from the field by now. Perhaps it would be better to start with a new team and then something happens where Egon , Ray , etc have to get involved one last time. If they do more sequels then at least have some of them come back for small roles.

I think it's pretty much a given that the originals will largely be excused from field work (though I'd imagine that any script would have them somehow involved in the inevitable climactic battle).

The real question remains as to what kind of talent the film chooses to replace them with.

Aykroyd said he likes Matthew Gray Gubler, which says to me that at least he has his eye more on actors that are around the same age he, Ramis and Murray were when they franchise started.

I question where the studio would stand on stuff like that, though. They're going to see it as a potential franchise... and, as such, want a younger, hipper cast that they feel appeals to the target demographic and has at least 1-2 sequels in the tank. I'd imagine they'll also want more name power than a guy off of Criminal Minds.

well if they do a 4-5 person group you ca mix ages. Like have 2 early/mid 30s yrs old actors, then 2 early-mid 20s actors. So you fill to age demographics and all that. Appease the 20 somethings of today. And the older fans with folks in range the originals were back in the first film. And if oscar still is in the script and is a buster like most rumors have it. He would be character age wise around 20-23 yrs old if the film gets going within the next yr.

How do people feel about Slimer being the third film? I hope he makes an appearance and has a role similar to The Real Ghostbusters and the video game as a pet/experiment subject. I always loved the little spud.

he would probably be there. I dont see why not. He likely just be a free spirit and hanging at the firehouse. Since he probably got attached to it over the yrs.

Meh. Personally I'd hate it. While I enjoyed RGB, it was an entirely separate entity - and adding ingredients from its formula was a big part of what really hurt Ghostbusters 2.

I'd rather he not even be mentioned.

I wouldn't mind Slimer being in it, but yes, it would have to be a brief part. Preferably one where he's not driving a city bus. :whatever:

Well, he is kind of their team pet/mascot. It wouldn't be the same without him.

Not in the films he wasn't. You're thinking of the cartoon Slimer.

Yeah, just a scene or two is good. I agree that having him around too much could hurt the film. Just have him show up for a joke or two like GB2. Wouldn't want him hovering around during a serious scene talking in gibberish like the cartoon. Though I certainly don't think his inclusion in GB2 hurt the film. Him driving the bus is one of my favorite scenes. Never understood the negativity towards GB2. Sure it wasn't as strong as the first film but it's not like it's terrible or anything.

Glad that others are hoping for a Slimer appearance. I recall reading an interview with some writer who was writing a Ghostbusters mini series comic and he made a comment about how he hated Slimer and would not be using him at all. If you hate Slimer then you're not qualified to write a Ghostbusters story in my opinion.

I disagree wholeheartedly. Not knowing who Slimer is makes someone unqualified to write a GB series - hating him is just an opinion.

I don't hate Slimer, I just prefer he stay in the cartoon related part of the franchise that made him what he is. There's nothing wrong with a writer deciding to keep it that way too.

That's like writing a He-Man film and not putting Orko in. I would not consider you a fan.

Um... nah?

Not being a He-Man fan, I have no idea who Orko is or how he relates to the franchise.

That said, I don't understand the necessity of a Slimer appearance. He started as a one-off ghost in the original film (and was listed as the "Onionhead Ghost"). The cartoon made him popular and he got a few scenes in the sequel as a nod to fans.

That's it. He's not a main character, nor is he even a true supporting character, in the movie universe. He doesn't need to be in the film. Nor does he need to appear in a Ghostbusters comic, since the majority of those try to use the film's continuity rather than the cartoon's.

I hope someone gets slimed. It would be like a right of passage for a new ghostbuster.

In the very least maybe one of the classic GB's is showing a "new guy" how to empty the trap... new guy does it wrong and Slimer escapes to slime him? Could be funny and only a few brief seconds to show everyone's favourite green disgusting blob.

Who likes the idea of a movie that explains the explores the origin of Slimer? Was he ever given a backstory of who he was before death?

there needs to be an excellent script, they have to step it up from the last one..
Slimer needs to be the mascot..
Winston should have a son that's on the team..

he has to be in for a cameo, i just hope they go back to the GB1 look the GB2 one just seems so strange

Well I think the main problem with GB2 is that the Real Ghostbusters creeped in. GB2 was more slick looking than the gritty GB's in the first one:o

And yes Slimer should be in the 3rd movie befriending Oscar!
