I'll be honest...I love Ghostbusters 1 and even 2. But I don't think there should be a three...I think it should be a whole new series of films. The originals would get cameos...maybe one or two might stick around as mentors. But that's it.

seriously, what's murray's beef with the franchise? these guys aren't getting any younger, the comedy baton's been passed to the steve carells, seth rogens, etc., for better or worse..

If murray's holding out for another Sofia Coppolla movie, he may be waiting a long time yet..

I agree. I think if the chemistry between the new actors is good, and the script is FUNNY, then a new Ghostbusters franchise is fine. If any of the original foursome want to cameo, then awesome!

You know, I've said I am ok with new actors as long as their are good. however, a big issue to me is technology. I want some new stuff, but I do not want them to change the look of the proton packs. The video game did it fine with the add ons, but that is one thing that killed Extreme Ghostbusters for me, was the light packs with pistols for the proton guns. The circular traps weren't great either.

I will say one thing I have liked was from the fan film Return of the Ghostbusters, the wrist gauntlet. Did not like the neutron powered beam much, but the gauntlet ended up being a pretty neat idea.

I nominate, literally, most of the cast from Community to be Ghostbusters. Literally.

Joel McHale would be an amazing Venkman-like character.
Danni Pudi (Abed) would be an amazing spinoff of Egon.
Donald Glover (Troy) would be an incredible goofball like Ray.

Well, we just got Murray basically puking on the script...

so that puts it 100 steps backwards.

I'm not agreeing with Bill, I'm just saying if he doesn't like it...

G3 is therefor all they way back to stage 1 since he is one of the main 4.

i get that i know the bit about murray, though we dont even know if that story was totally true to be honest there. We know studio wants it now, and most of the guys are still gunho for it. I wouldnt count it out just yet.

It's too late to have a movie centering on the original cast. But not too late to pass the torch.

It's because he holds the first Gb film in such high regard, he once said that the first half, or two thirds, of that film was perfect, and you get the sense that Bill Murray is the kind of guy who is pretty hard on films.
He didn't like the way the second film turned out, and wished it had never been made, as he did not want to tarnish the rep of the first.
What are the chances of a GB3 being any good? When the exact same creative team couldn't make a good enough sequel 5 years after the first one?!

Its definately not to late to do one. And the whole passing the torch deal been the main plot mention. Which works to reduce the old guys role due to age, and still have some influence in things.

If they managed to get a script together that was as good as the first one, I don't see why the old guys role couldn't steer the whole movie. If you are just gonna have a bunch of new actors doing the majority of the film, I'd rather just see a reboot.

The truth is, this franchise WILL come back. It's too big not to. It's a part of American culture. Not returning to it in some capacity would be like McDonald's not selling Big Macs anymore. There's a million Ghostbuster Logo t-shirts being sold a day.

My concern was: Are they going to bring everyone back, or is it going to be a reboot with all new people? I personally don't think we'll even get a "Pass the Torch" movie; it's just going to be a straight reboot/remake.

You can't do anything related to original canon if Bill Murray isn't involved. So their best bet is to reinvent the whole damn thing from scratch. Give us all new characters who aren't Venkman or Egon. Pretend 1 & 2 never happened. It'll piss the whole world off royally, but we'll get over it.
