By the way, remember Ivan Reitman's Evolution movie? I always remember it for being very close to Ghostbusters, with their own logo and stuff.

Since Murray is so hesitant to do a third movie, why don't they just do a live action movie based on " The Real Ghostbusters ", with all new actors based on the likeness of the Cartoon GB's and have the original actors make cameos.

If Murray is attached, that's the only way I'll want to see this movie. Otherwise, I don't really care. Or get a new crew consisting of Jason Segal and Paul Rudd. But since you can pick which one is more unlikely than the other I don't really have a desire to see this movie get made.

No, just have Ackroyd, Ramis, and Hudson in as non-GB cameos, like Hudson could be a construction worker who encounters a ghost, Ackroyd a host of a ghost-hunting type tv show, and Ramis a doctor in an E.R or something. I Know it's far-fetched, just throwing some ideas out there. The Real GB's was always like an alternative universe anyway, where the Original GB movie was a movie based on them in that universe.

So, what's everyone's hope for the plot? Old crew training new crew, New crew having to take over after old crew vanishes, building over the game's ending and have like a franchised GB around the world?

The RGB's fly to Hollywood to meet with a producer who wants to film a movie about them, and end up fighting a ghost who's haunting the studio. At the end, they go to the premeire and on the screen is the actually begining and outside shot of the Lion statue at the libraryfrom the Original GB film,and Cartoon Venkman remarks that Bill Murray looks nothing like him.

How awesome! Didn't know that. I guess I haven't seen all episodes. I had all the toys. I still have the Ecto 1 under my bed. Good times.

I remember seeing the early print ads for the movie back in the 80's and thinking that was exactly what they did.

Well the point still probably would be passing the torch for a new younger generation to take the business over. Since the originals are all up there and busting full time be to hard for them to do 24/7.

But still having them around or start the film off set some yrs ago and they retire/can't keep up with it. Would be best. Then ghosts are quiet for some time. So the busters close shop. Besides maybe egon to montior. Old trapped ghosts and for any new activities.

Then the plot would be something causes a resurgincey of ghosts. And egon wants to reopen the business. But knows the other guys wont/can't bust any more. Which can lead to them just training/hiring new guys.

Which easy in to do oscar as a buster. And easy way to write in/out vankmen for how much a role bill would want to be in if this new go at script is to his liking.

Then another idea could be as I said before maybe at some point in the film the new guys get way to over heads by films big baddie. It causes the originals to strap on the packs one more time to save the young ones and both groups take out big baddies. Then at that point we have the official passing torch over. And if its a success to restart the franchise then in other sequels we can drop/limited roles for originals.

If they want to pass the torch but still have the originals around, I'd say put the main 4 together at the beginning, trapping some ghost. Then prepare a new group, and in the 3rd act of the movie just put both groups together, the old one and the new one, make them split. If they do that, then I don't mind a 4th Ghostbusters movie with the new group.

As much as I would love to see an excellent third Ghostbusters movie. I just think all the guys are a bit long in the tooth.

I don't think that anyone except die-hard Ghostbusters fans want to see a bunch of overweight 60 something year old guys running around in their Ghostbuster outfits.

I would do that too but have the originals around for half the film. Then taken. Or the reverse as I said above the newbies get taken and the old guys have to save the day one last time.

Oh come on its not like the whole movie would be about the originals busting ghosts for 2hrs or so. They probably do like two busting scenes. Then just be supporting role to new busters. And the old they aare old would be the plotpoint of the film. And really the originals are not that badly looking. Winston looks the best of the four, egon actor just got really fat, same with dan, and murray is just old looking. And if he died his hair/wore a wig could look a little younger. And dana and jennie actresses also are half bad with how old they are.

Plus they could always write in some sort of reasons why the originals no longer bust, vankman got to old and just wanted to retire relax, egon and dan characters maybe have some medical reason or just got to much out of shape to full time bust. Then maybe winston we could say got injuried bad in a old bust like broke a leg, arm, etc... and couldn't bust that well any more.

Wow, Ernie doesn't look like he's aged much at all. Actually, outside Ramis, all of them have aged pretty well. They all obviously have aged and all, but they really don't look that different from the original movies. Though, Ramis...yeah, goddamn.

There's no way the studio would allow the release of a film where the average age of the main cast is over 65.

Whether this film ever gets released or not you know they will crow bar in some younger stars into the lead roles.

I'm sure that's the plan anyway. Even it's not a new crew, it's a given that they'd put in new faces in some role(s).
