Murray cameo in the beginning, Venkman being mentioned several times during the film and shows up in the final fight to save the world one last time because the others are outnumbered.... sounds good to me.
But Murray's lack of interest isn't the only thing that may sink this movie. I have read that the studio people don't want Ivan Reitman involved. How bad isn't that?
I know you guys don't like bringing up directors who haven't had a hit movie in decades, but a concept like Ghostbusters benefits from having an 80s guy. To replace Reitman, I suggest John Landis. He's worked with Dan before and that may help a lot. He knows the other guys too, they rose to fame about the same time. And if not Landis, Joe Dante can work. And Robert Zemeckis too.
