Ghostbusters 3 - Part 1

The point for film has been about them being older now and hanging it up for a new geneeration. I still think that is a good plot point to go with. And then if film is a success can do some more films where they wouldn't need to have he old guys. I hope this time the new writer gets script everyone likes so we can get to shooting/casting process. Also on looks of the old guys I said it before dying hairr and make up could make them look a little better/younger. Or just there looks could be played into other stuff like old injuries/medical reasons why they hung up their proton packs.

I suspect they will do the old bit where the old timers are shown up by the youngsters, who then get into a situation they can not resolve and the old guard needs to make a come back to save the day.

hopefully the producers will get going on it.. not sure what the hangup is with Murray.. he can't pretend he's still 30 playing the same guy..

The basic premise of the script they're putting together isn't new (or difficult to produce). A clash of young/old, rookie/veteran, passing the torch and so on.

A part of me wonders if the hang up comes down to what Aykroyd wants in the film. Remember, his script for the original Ghostbusters was this acid trip high concept supernatural flick, that Ramis and a sheer lack of technology toned down. Now the special effects exist to kind of go off the wall - maybe too far off for Murray's taste?

Well, what Akroyd wanted in the Ghostbusters 3 script was pretty much put into the video game. I'm sure he'd love to put more of it in GB3, but I think they should come up with more scientific inclusion of some sort.

The GB video game had some bits and pieces from Dan's GB3 script, but remember that his first attempt at a third film had the team winding up in Hell, which looked like a ghost-version of NYC.

That'd be... too much. I don't think dimension hopping is something the series ever needs to deal with.

For me I would still go we start up the film set it a few ys back and we see the guys having tto much trouble busting any more. So they retire and move on to other stuff. But egon remains at the hq to make sure the vault/trap is holding while. Then we cut to present day and things been at peace during this time.

Then the big bad ghostie for the film shows up or maybe breaks free from the holding vault. And egon sees trouble is starting to brew up again. He asks the others to come back. But they decline due to say venkman retired and move to fl/cali, and others maybe medical or injuries prevent them to help out.

So then egon is forced to retcuit a new team of busters. This is where we can get a good range of guys and girls. And even toss oscar in if that is still a plot point. And then we can have a group of 20 somethings/early 30s old actors picked.

Then majority of the film we see the new guys learning the ropes and taking out easy ghosts. And seeing the comp get back into the public eye. Then we get to the end of the film and the new recuits get captured by the big baddie ghost. And egon finally gets the originals to come back to save the world. And we then see the originals suit up one last time and after rescuring the newbies they all team up and wipe out the baddie aand there you go.

I often wondered what it would be like to see Ackroyd's first GB script on film. Dimension-Hopping, Time Traveling GB's. Would make a pretty good Graphic Novel or straight to dvd animated flick.

...Slimer must be a mascot by now. They shouldn't just ignore him or treat him as another bad ghost..

I'd prefer they right the wrongs of GB2 and just leave Slimer out of it. Or make his reappearance be something the new team contends with and ultimately busts.

He shouldn't have been in GB2 - that was an absolutely depressing amount of pandering to the cartoon fans. I loved the cartoon as a kid, too, but it shouldn't have had the effect it did on the film series. He's a ghost, not a mascot, ally or friend.

wait.... all he did was help give a bus ride, it was like 2 seconds of screen time. I didnt have a problem with it. It's tough to criticize a movie as not being serious to the original, when said original featured a giant stay puff marsh mellow man as a threat.

I really think the idea of showing the gozer cult's origins and such is a cool idea, didnt get into the game much though. I dont really need the game to be canon.

I didn't say it wasn't serious, I said it was blatant pandering. It was basically product placement.

just thinking after rewatching it on tv. i'm really surprised there isn;t an official dvd commentary for GBII.

it would be interesting to hear what the stars or director have to say about it

I thought there was a commentary with the box set ?

I am sure there is on one of the many sets out for gb films.

there is a commentary for ghostbusters with reitman and ramis. but all the GBII are bare bones only the trailer

They have to keep the game canon, it was amazing. And lots of great information. I don't want mroe Gozer, thats actually my only problem, the cartoons had plent yof cool stuff without using Gozer, butit did have stay Puft, the game had the return of Gozer, and then the new comic series has had Gozer return no less than twice, so I feel Gozer has been pretty well used up. He's no longer the precieved threat and kind of like an occasionally reoccuring annoyance. His stuff in the game though is great still.

What are bill murray's demands? Whatever they are, make him happy and do it. Time is only wasting. At this rate, it'll never get made.

Seesh let's wait and see what the new screenwriter comes up with. Before we think this time bill won't accept.

Ok so who known when or if this will ever happen but who would you guys like to appear in this sequel as ghostbusters that is. No including the originals and also if they ever god forbid rebooted it who would you want to play the 4 guys

Well I would say do a mix of 20somethings and 30somethings. For guys I would go forr dudes like jason bertha, ed helms, paul rudd, type of guys, aand then if oscar is a buster or appears someone like a josh hutchson I would not be happy if its michael cera I just sick of him. If there is any girl busters I would go the likes of emma stone for 20s something, and christin wiig, and the blond from forrgetting sarah marshall. Then maybe a couple unknown actors.
