Ghostbusters 3 - Part 1

This is not related to Indiana Jones at all. Ghostbusters is silly and not to be taken seriously. Yes, Indy can be comical fun... but there's a difference.

Also, Bill Murray obviously doesn't think about his fans. He doesn't want to do Ghostbusters 3 because he's in "Oscar mode" now. He's gotta get that Oscar before he dies, so he wants to do these indie, low-key movies that are pretentious drivel, like all these pointless Wes Anderson movies. He grabs at the chance to be in a serious movie with Robert Duvall (Get Low), only nobody cares. Just like nobody cares about him playing Franklin D. Roosevelt.

I blame Wes Anderson. He started it, and then this whole "Hipster Bill Murray" thing continued with Lost in Translation and Broken Flowers, and it's only gotten more sad.

Bill, you came from Saturday Night Live. The Bill Murray we want was in Meatballs, Ghostbusters, Stripes, Groundhog Day, and Caddyshack. You have every right to do your other artsy crap (by all means), but these movies created you, they created the fans you have.

There is absolutely no excuse for him not to be in Ghostbusters 3. And I'll put money on this: I bet the script for this movie will end up being phenomenal. It's been in development hell for 25 years. Literally dozens of scripts (hell, maybe hundreds) have been churned and cranked out, only to be rejected and dismissed. In recent years it's gotten closer than it ever has, and has been constantly reworked to please Murray. Trust me, Bill is going to reject the script no matter what... but if it's been constantly re-tooled to please him (going so far as to just give him one scene where he is now a ghost), I bet the script is damn good. You watch.

But having said that, I personally could care less if Murray shows up in this movie or not. He's shown what an ass he is, and now we (most of us) see it.

This is a very poor post. You are saying that someone does not have the right to grow as an actor and go from comedic to serious roles? I guess you must hate Tom Hanks too...

Seth Green NEEDS to be a GhostBuster.....and possibly Felicia Day.
Also...John Cho

I feel personally insulted that we never got to see The Man With Two Red Shoes.

John Cho actually wouldn't be a bad idea at all, and Day may have potential too.

As for Seth Green... I think I'd rather see the film remain in development hell.

I think it was called Xtreme Ghostbusters. That's come up a few times but I did enjoy that cartoon. The gorilla must of been part of something else though.

Thanks. But yeah, a live action adaptation of Xtreme Ghostbusters with the addition of whichever Classic Ghostbusters that agree to join the cast. If Bill Murrey refuses to join? Screw him! If done well enough, he'll miss out on a great reboot of the franchise. Not to mention one hell of a great big paycheque.

The Gorilla was apart of Filmation's Ghostbusters.

Right! And that show was based on a live action TV series from the 50's or 60's. I remember seeing it available on DVD at the HMV.

I'll believe it when I see it at this point. Dan keeps saying they start production next year but the studio is like "WTF?"

New characters for Ghostbusters 3:

Eduardo Rivera: A lazy, sarcastic new recruit with an eye for the ladies. Kinda like a young Peter Venkman.
Suggested Casting: Wilmer Valderama

Kylie Griffon: A goth chick with an intimate knowledge of the occult. She has a bit of a childish crush on Egon, and a love/hate relationship with Eduardo.
Suggested Casting: Mila Kunis

Garrett Miller: A paraplegic new recruit, he's also a total jock with a real "gung ho" attitude.
Suggested Casting: Chris Pine

Roland Jackson: The black new recruit. He's a mechanical and technological genius. He's the group's mechanic, as well as maintaining and improving the ghostbusting equipment.
Suggested Casting: Unknown, but he should be young, handsome, and have great comedic timing. Someone like a young Will Smith.

Team these new recruits with the classic Ghostbusters and let the hilarity ensue.

I just can't see there being any chemistry between that group. Do people even know Valderama still exists? Mila Kunis may be good for something like this, but I'd think her and Pine are too big for "new recruits" now.

I want lesser known actors for these parts now. If you gave James Roday a role in ghostbusters 3, he'd actually put out the effort and make sure he didn't blow it given it'd be his breakthrough film role, whereas some big name actors would coast with the material and churn out a Judd Apatow style comedy. JA style can be good, just not Ghostbusters good.

If Murray's so averse to returning to the series, why did he voice the game a while back?
Why did he do this at the Scream Awards?

Doing voice work and slipping into a costume for one night is a little bit different than filming a major summer blockbuster type of movie.

Sure, but neither example feels like the actions of a man who doesn't want to be associated with the series anymore. No-one forced him to do either, you know?

It has nothing to do with murray not wanting to be associated with the franchise. People are getting it so twisted and taking it personal.

Murray plainly dislikes the scripts they've presented him, not to mention the fact he's made it evident he doesn't feel there is a real need to make a 3rd ghostbusters especially at the ages all the guys are at.

Murray is very happy to be associated with the franchise i mean look at his cameo in zombieland but to him that franchise exists as the 2 films and the time for a 3rd has probably passed.

I think he was kind of pressured into it, around that same time that's when the "Murray shreds gb3 script" rumors started. Did it to appease the fans.

SNIP

1. Doing one/two days of voice acting in a booth for some quick cash

2. Probably pulling our leg on a Ghostbuster's movie a few years ago.

If there is a GB3 and the original cast are involved, as much as I love these guys, I do not want to see a bunch of 60 somethings, in the entire film, running around trying to act like they are in their mid 30's still.
I'd like to see some kind of handover to younger team members, perhaps getting Dana`s son in on the action as a team member, maybe the leader. With the original team still being around in a helping out capacity, but one which is vital to the plot/story.
Perhaps even getting them to take centre stage in the climax, because the new recruits are somehow overwhelmed by the unfolding events due to their being a bit green. The old guys step up to the plate, defeat the monster. New York is saved once again.
But the original team don't want to keep doing this and at the end officially hand over to the new guys, saying something like, "we're always around if you need us...but you're ready now."

(Along the way, kill Venkman, so that we get Bill Murray to reprise his role one last time)

Then the ground is laid for GB4 to have fresh blood only.

I know there's not much specific detail above, but hopefully you get where I'm coming from.

Well, that's exactly what Aykroyd has wanted for GB3. A passing of the torch flick.

whats sad is without murray that mean no weaver. there is no point of having dana back without peter

Let's face I really am giving up the ghost on this movie...maybe (God I can't believe I'm saying this) a reboot would be a good idea...I feel so sick right now:csad:

lets get the It's Always Sunny in Philly crew to write GB3

i can definitely see Mac, Dennis, and Charlie as Ghostbusters

I don't necessarily agree. All of the cast of the original Ghostbusters (with the possible exception of Ernie Hudson) were really big stars before Ghostbusters was made (Bill & Dan especially, being SNL elumni). So Mila & Chris can play the new recruits and be the next generation of Ghostbusters.

And so what if no one remembers Wilmer Valderama? How many other Latino comedic actors that are in their early thirties who are even the least bit well known can you name? The character of Eduardo is a sarcastic Latino. Wilmer hasn't done much since That 70's Show ended, except for hosting Yo' Mama, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't be great in the role. (I was thinking of suggesting John Leguizamo, but he'd be too old for the role by now.)

Chris Pine is good at both humour and action. Like the way he played Kirk in the Star Trek reboot. Only difference is Garret Miller is a paraplegic. He's not so much the group's leader as he is their inspiration. Their heart & their backbone. Pine would be good at that.

Kylie Griffon is a totally hot goth chick. Mila Kunis is totally hot and has naturally dark hair (although she'll probably have to dye it jet black and add purple streaks). She can easily pull off goth. I've seen her do funny, and I've seen her do dramatic. She does both very well.

Whatever fame these three have should help the film, not hurt it.

And I still haven't found a black actor for the role of Roland Jackson. Any suggestions?

Anyway, whether or not they coast on their reputations or whatever depends entirely on the writer and the director. With the right combo, no professional actor with any sense of pride would dare "phone it in".
