Ghostbusters 3 - Part 1

Bill's just a rare animal in Hollywood.

It's said about a lot of people, but he literally just does what he wants to do. It seems like he just lives his life - chilling out, playing golf, and just acts when he feels like it. And it's a weird situation for a person like that to be in the middle of a massive studio system where there's deadlines, and product, and yadda yadda. And he just seems really uncomfortable with it. I wouldn't want him to be guilted into a project he didn't believe in, or simply didn't feel like making.

That said, I'd love to see it, as long as it's good. If the script really sucks, please, BILL, blockade that *****!

More and more I'm really beginning to doubt this will ever get off the ground. That interview really did not get my hopes up.

I have a feeling that if we ever see another Ghostbusters, it won't be with the same actors. Bill seemed to acknowledge that studio would like for the franchise to continue, so you can probably see what might be in store down the line ... Reboot City

Not something I would be interested in.

Murray has always been the hold-up. Been common knowledge for years.

If he was genuinely interested in a third go-around (especially with the "obligation to Reitman" remark), I think he would have already said, "Yes" a long time ago.

Perhaps if there was a hook like getting the group back together. But there isn't (They already got back together for Ghostbusters 2 to mixed-to-negative results). Perhaps if maybe someone in the group badly needed the money, I get the impression Murray would be stand-up and finally relinquish just to help out. But nobody needs the money. Although they'd all stand to benefit (further) financially.

I know people might be interested in a 3rd but just let it go. We dont need another ghostbusters film, its like saying we need another honey I shrunk the kids movie. These were big movies in there time but lets move on shall we. Im with bill on this one, I heard the stern interview and murray gave off a I dont really care it gets made vibe.

I do want film to happen. It could be a good thing.

The 80s are hot, the films still have a ton of devoted fans and there are endless marketing opportunities that didn't exist back in the day... Suffice to say, the movie could be a massive success and re-energize an entire franchise.

The fans want it, most of the cast and crew wants it, the studio probably wants it more than all of us combined...

Just need Bill Murray, who doesn't seem to want it at all. Dude's in his own parallel universe.

oh totally man. and i do hope if it does happen it will do well enough. And to the note about studio probably wanting to make more. Really they wouldnt need to have all the originals be in any potential sequels. If the public likes the new group in the film. Hopefully everything works out for the best.

Ghostbusters (1984) A truer statement could not have been made by @hoverbird on Twitter yesterday, "Everybody thinks The Social Network is the best movie about forming a start-up company, they are wrong. The best movie is Ghostbusters."

Ya me too but they are probably still waiting on bills decision on they script.

It's rough... he doesn't seem interested publicly, but he's so unblievably aloof that it's impossible to know for sure. I mean, he's never publicly excited about ANYTHING anymore.

Well guys Dan already said that the recent video game was sort of like the third ghostbusters film. I and a lot of other people who love to see a new gohstbuster film with today's technology but I doubt it will get made at this point. If they are waiting on Bill then the film is screwed. He is basically saying he dosent give a crap about Ghostbusters, the cast and crew, or the fans wishes.

The only way this movie will get made is if they move forward without Bill Murray. Maybe they can say his character left to do other things or he got sick and passed or died in a ghost hunting job lol.

This sadly seems likely.

And honestly... I'm afraid that if Murry DID do it, it'd be a poor performance. I don't know about anyone else, but his showing in the video game seemed pretty disinterested to me. I thought I was busting ghosts with modern-day, semi-retired Bill Murray, not Pete Venkman. I just don't think the man has the reckless energy he did in the 80s.

This movie isn't happening with Bill Murray. I thought he was being facetious about the script but it's apparent he doesn't want this. It's not because he doesn't care about fans , I'm assuming he thinks it's a bad idea or won't meet expectations.

Ya I know bill is such an oddball. I hope he agrees to it soon. So hopefully maybe they could start shooting by end of the year or early next yr. And shoot for a summer/fall 2013 release.

If they can't bring back the entire ORIGINAL cast, then I would rather them just have a brand new cast and change the location to Chicago or LA or something and just state that Ghostbusting a nation-wide franchise and Pete, Ray, Egon, etc are in NYC doing their thing and this is just another crew in another location and their stories.....

Never say never in the film business.

I am more than certain that if the right script came along, Murray would do it.

So after watching Your Highness, the people who did the special effects on the mother witches NEED to be the ones who do effects on this if it ever gets made. All I could think about watching that movie is the witches are shooting out proton streams. seriously.

Well greg from all reports we know the rest of the originals are all for returning. Its as it has been for yrs bill is the final hold up. And with the rights spread between harold/dan/ivan and bill. They have to all be in agreement or it wont happen. Sorta like how long it took indy 4 to happen cause spielberg/lucas/ford said they would only do it if they all agreeded.

On the contrary, he quite enjoyed the experience doing the videogame and returning to the role.

This was when Bill seemed at his most 'enthusiastic' at the idea of coming back for another movie. However, that was 3 years ago and he seems, once again to be back to simply disinterested.

I just don't understand why he would be uninterestd. This is a big deal, lol.

While he may have liked the project, his work definitely had a "tired" feel to it, IMO. Like I said, the man just doesn't have the energy to be Peter Venkman anymore.

Give me...

Paul Rudd
Jason Segal
Donald Glover (You know him from Community)
Emma Stone

... and I could care less about what Bill Murray thinks.
