Ghostbusters 3 - Part 1

whats is interesting is that you all love Ghostbusters because of the cast. because of the original 4 actors. yet when you talk about the new movie you only talk about the new actors and how they would take over.

you see where i am going?

While I like the idea of the old ghostbusters training new ones; I hope they don't focus on the new ghostbusters for the whole film if they do that story. I'd like for there to be maybe only two or three incoming ghostbusters, instead of a whole new team being trained. So that maybe the older guys are just taking in fresh blood or possibly making up for the loss of one member(if the rumors about what happens to Vinkman are true) by hiring a couple new guys to fill in, but also to eventually continue the legacy when the remaining ghostbusters retire down the road.
That way we could actually get more of a focus on the team we know and love. If there are four new members I think it just becomes too messy, especially if each one is even a semi-popular actor. They may overshadow the original ghostbusters too much, or just take up too much of the movie needlessly. They should just recruit a few people who are additions to the main team. With a whole new team of 4 it would just seem too much like a redo of the original cast imho. Also they could still set up some cool/funny cameos of people being interviewed as potential ghostbusters who don't make the cut. Paul Rudd does though:woot:
I think Oscar should be a ghostbuster too for sure. That would simplify things by having him be one of the incoming ghostbusters. I think Segel might actually be a great fit for adult Oscar.

I still think we would see a good portion of the originals. I would probably open with film maybe set a few yrs in the past. And the busters in rough shape now and failing to catch a ghost. So they decide to hung it up cause they are to old to do it any more.

So things stay quiet for let's say 5-10 yrs(maybe opening set in early 2000). So the business is pretty much dead. But they keep it partially open to keep eye on all the old trapped ghosts and all that.

Then some new big bad ghostie comes out of the works. So they decide to reopen the business full time. So then word goes out the ghost busters are hiring. This could lead to say 3 new busters(female, a smart guy, and a average joe). Being hired and started to train on things.

Then we lead into oscar who also wants to join. But dana doesn't want him to. Which leads to him disobeying here. And joins cause he always wanted to be a buster since he was a kid. And we go from there.

So then we get to the end of the film and the big bad is to much for the newbis to handle. So then we see the originals one last time strap on the gear. And joining with the newbis are able to take out the big bad. So then we get the one last time/heroes one more time ending for originals.

I like the idea of the old ones training new ones a slong as the originals are likable. The point I think everyone is getting at is now the originals really can't do a lot of stunt work or haul around 40 pound props on their backs. So instead of trying to force the guys to akwardly stumble through a new adventure, its time to give them a little more time to shine, plus bring in some new blood. Lets face it, if this happens, and it works, and a GB4 gets greenlit, I doubt everyone would be back, hell I'd settle for Akyroyd and Ramis only that go around, but I'd rather continue on with connections to the original instead of trying to reboot our favorite characters. that is how I see it.

Dan and Harold definitely have the passion for the project. I take it Murray is just completely dis-interested.

Hudson? I think he has the attitude of his character...if there's a paycheck, he's in. :woot:

...having said that, in spite of all this recent talk I feel that it still doesn't matter. Call me when you have a production photo, THEN i'll be excited.

:again, unsubscribes from thread:

Ramis and Aykroyd love the project. It's their baby. They've always wanted to do a third. Neither "needs work" or is in dire straights for money - their names have been tied to so many successes over the years that they're well set.

Ernie Hudson isn't necessarily hurting for work either - what he's hurting for is a feature. The man works constantly and is well respected. He just hasn't had a big role in a true feature film since... the mid 90s? This is his chance.

Murray obviously has no need for the money. His dis-interest stems from his disdain for sequels (he embraces the "artist" part of the field and doesn't believe you can do a story twice)... and he's just old, crotchety and has lost most of the fire that made him what he was in the 80s.

Bill Murray made his fame with his energetic, nutball characters in the 80s. He doesn't have that anymore. He doesn't have that energy, the fire or the personality. He's a semi-retired old man. Even his lines for the video game were semi-phoned in and sounded more like Bill Murray than Peter Venkman. The character is lost to him.

That's why Bill Murray doesn't want to do it. He literally doesn't have that character in him anymore.

A man who did horrible Garfeild movies and stuff like Space Jam complaining about the quality of movies and making sequels is laughable.

He should stop being a *****e and just make the movie. He hasn't starred in a hit movie for a few years anyway.

agree

don't get me wrong, i love Bill Murray. but in the last better part of the decade he has turned into an "artsy fartsy" *****e. i can not remember the last time he made a comedy that is not a Paul Anderson film.

i figured Bill would have been down for a third Ghostbusters, especially after he said he had fun doing the voice for Peter in the videogame.

hopefully he comes around. only time will tell, but i'm not getting my hopes up

Bill Murray obviously knows how well loved the Ghostbusters movies are his whole cameo in Zombie land was built around it.

Sigourney Weaver said on her CNN interview how grateful she is for Ghostbusters and Alien because people who grew up watching those films are now the directors who want to cast her in roles in their movies. Why she still has a career in her 60s when alot of other actresses don't.

One thing I want addressed is the GBs ( or at least Venkman) want to expand into a franchise, because ghostbusting was first thought of as a business and to study the paranormal--that they get paid for. I don't mind them wanting new blood to fill in the shoes in hopes of making ghostbusting a world wide market or something. Keep the comedy similar to the first movie, with a few swears and sexual innuendo, and good special effects.

I would say could be plot for a 4th film if a 3rd goes well. We have that sequel open up with a new franchise let's say in europe or something and the team there goes missing and busters jump the pond to infestivgate and take out.

I think we can all safely say reboot!

Reboot isn't going to happen. Studio doesn't own the characters. Its all in the hands of ivan, harold, dan, and bill.

They're not rebooting, but they may do some torch passing, which paves the way for new cartoons, toys, and what not.

I'm hoping it doesn't stray away from that too much.

It doesn't need to be a hard PG-13 going on borderline R, but about the same tone as Men in Black was.

dont be angry at Bill. he has the right to say no. the movie Year One helped him say '' NO ''.

Heck sure year one was a bad film. But even the best directors/writers have a flop or two in there career. It just helps them do much better work next time. And we know harold and dan really love gb, and we don't even know for sure what those guys from the office did in there drafts of script before harold and dan now taking over.

Here's Why Nobody Wants to See Your New Ghostbusters Movie, Dan Aykroyd

http://blog.moviefone.com/2011/08/2...w-cast-dan-aykroyd/?ncid=txtlnkusmovi00000003

The average human being, when they first hear about 'Ghostbusters III,' reacts somewhere along the lines of, "Oh! I loved 'Ghostbusters,' I'm excited about this news." But here's the problem: when people read the actual details of Aykroyd's script, the excitement is quickly replaced by, at best, indifference and, at worst, horrification. Let's take yesterday's news for example: Aykroyd revealed that his beloved character, Ray Stantz, is now, "blind in one eye and can't drive the Cadillac," and, "he's got a bad knee and can't pick up the pack." Who, exactly, wants to see this? Ray Stantz is the heart of the Ghostbusters! Who would want to pay money to see him now partially blind with a bad knee? Good lord that sounds depressing. Oh, he wasn't done, Aykroyd has plans for Egon Spengler, too, "Egon is too large to get into the harness." Nice. That's comedy gold. Does Winston Zeddemore have gout? Because that's exactly something else I would never want to see.

i think of the 4 original GB's, Ernie Hudson (Winston) is the one that has been looking in great shape lately. seriously, the guy seems to never age and looks like he's in excellent physical shape.

it'd be cool if he was the one going out with the new members and being the leader for once

would be nice unless the plan is to have all the originals having something wrong with them to make them not be able to bust full time. But with ernie being in best shape if that was plan i would give him a leg injury or something like that.

Ray having one eye and being really old and raggedy as a Ghostbuster actually sounds appealing.

ya i dont see issue there, and harold as we all know has gotten pretty fat but besides that not bad. So playing into there old age and giving them injuries seems like a natural thing. Just like i said ernie would need to get something to take him down a peg too since he is in the best of shape. Then if bill is around he is just the cranky old guy lol.

They should use the facial motion capture technology used in Avatar and Planet of the Apes to de-age the actors. Have the movie take place a few years after part 2.
