Ghostbusters 3 - Part 1

They should use the facial motion capture technology used in Avatar and Planet of the Apes to de-age the actors. Have the movie take place a few years after part 2.

The video game already kind of sort of did most of that.

Not sure the technology is there yet to do that for a whole movie and make it look excellent/flawless the way it needs to be..

I think having them kind of decrepit and just making money off the franchise would be some pretty biting satire.

If GB3 happens they have to acknowledge that these guys have aged so I don't mind that. They're all just about ready to draw social security.

But to do it to that extreme ? I would rather the original gang be not so old to the point that they can not save the world anymore. I would have rather them do something where they go on a mission with Oscar & the originals get captured & the movie switches to Oscar & new team & we see the originals keep trying to escape & then Oscar & new team saves the originals & the original Ghostbusters decide to do one last mission after being rescued with the new team & then at the end pass the torch. Not the type of old & depressing thing Dan is talking about

You know Ramis and Akroyd would kind of take the piss out themselves by somewhat poking fun at the fact that it's gonna be viewed as a cash-in with some of the humor in the flick.

I would rather see a new generation of Ghostbusters with maybe the originals serving as mentors.

Really doesn't matter who any of the actors said they like to have in the cast. It could be studio call, or even if said actors tested they don't get selected. So who knows what the cast will ultimately be.

I'm assuming the original cast will all be retired. There's still a way to not have them Ghostbusting but have large enough roles. Also could see them having to do one last mission or something.

well with any new busters they would be mentoring them in a way. So there is no way around that. But ya the logical thing would be start the film like i said back a page maybe a few yrs ago. Show off that the originals dont have enough punch any more. So they retire officially from busting. The world is quiet for X number of yrs. To we get to present day and new big bad. So new group is hired/trained. They do there series of busting. But get way over their heads with the big bad. So that leads to the originals strapping the gear for one last go at saving the world. So they get the heroes ending and we got a new team to live up to their legend status and all that.

I could see the original characters being ghosts themselves and now Oscar is head of the newly opened office.

Sure it is. Look no further than Benjamin Button. Forget Tron: Legacy. It can most certainly be done with current technology.

So you want to do the Frighteners meets the Ghostbusters:huh:

To me the best way is do it like Extreme Ghostbusters... have Egon the mentor of the new team for GB 3 then do GB4 with the everybody back like the return of the GB's that way Bill doesn't have to be in 3 and if it does well he can come back for 4. Then the new team can take over for the future.

Ghostbusters Beyond!

If they ever actually make this it needs to acknowledge their age. Making them battle-scarred is excessive and handing off the proton packs to a younger generation can be accomplished but this is Hollywood so I'm doubtful it will.

I don't get the age deal with some folks. The Ghostusters where not action guys with sixcks to begin with. They were scientists and a blue collar worker who pointed ray guns at ghosts.

All the orginal Ghostbusters look the same except they are slightly fatter, have grey hair and lines in their faces.

I would rather see them, if they are going to "pass the torch", I'd rather see them add more to the ranks. In other words, their city, or the world has become so overrun with ghosts that the GB's are forced to recruit. That way the original Busters are still necessary and aren't being replaced simply because they're "older."

And frankly, if they are going to do GB3, why don't Ramis and Akroyd lose 30 pounds before filming starts?

That's what I'm talking about. No one wants to see their favourite GB's return to be wheelchair bound, or eye-patch wearing or so overweight they can't strap the packs on anymore. 1-- It's not funny and 2-- It's a disservice to the fans and characters. If the movie isn't shooting until 2012 then that means they've got 4-5 months to whip themselves into shape. That's plenty of time to lose some weight and look good for the celluloid. :cwink:

Those are for a few scenes at a time. Were not talking a full 2hrs here and with the main characters. Also the tron one was pretty wonky, jeff bridges looked very out of place in the real world scene with that cgi.

I think a better representation is to do what they did in Captain America with Chris Evans.

I don't think "de-aging" needs to even come into question, other than losing some weight. I say let them embrace the 20 years that's gone by!

They did it for Rise of the Planet of the Apes. By they time they got ready after starting from scratch on a new script, they technology will have already been out for several years. That's what was created for Avatar.
