Ghostbusters 3 - Part 1

You mean comedy that's actually funny?

Well I'd say her comedy doesn't quite fit in with stuff that's actually funny...

I've seen her in plenty and have never been particularly impressed.

Agreed. She was great in House Bunny, showed great comedic ability in the Scary Movie series despite their decline in quality. And I actually really liked her more reserved snarky roles in Take Me Home Tonight and the s****y Super Ex-Girlfriend. I would trust her to deliver just fine in a Ghostbusters movie.

Ha Majik, dont think you quite understood iamlegend's post

See, herein lies my main complaint - she's known for playing a ditz. That's about all she's every accomplished. Normally a loud, annoying one.

The Ghostbusters series is more rooted in a dry, sharp, intelligent humor.

On top of all that, the last person I'm putting in a GB3 if I'm a director is an actress that's most well known for appearing in low-rent horror/supernatural movie parodies.

Then she'd play against type.

Uncle Eddie ( Kevin Corrigan) from " Grounded for Life ", always reminds me of Real GB's Peter Venkman.

She's played other roles other than a ditz and could play against type.

And dry, sharp, intelligent humor? I dont exactly remember Ghostbusters being that intelligent or dry (other than of course Bill Murray)

In Take Me Home Tonight and Super Ex-Girlfriend, she didn't play a ditz at all. Her roles in those was all dry, sharp, intelligent humor.

I haven't seen The Dictator, but she didn't look to play a ditz in it either.

It certainly wasn't the crude, more basic humor we're seeing churned out by studios now. Most of the jokes were little more than witty banter between the leads, and Ramis' Egon was as dry as it could get.

I'm not buying the argument that Faris can just play against the type, either. She's been at this for a long time and has largely stayed in her wheelhouse. Usually suggests she either has no interest in leaving it, or honestly can't.

I haven't seen The Dictator, but I'd be hard pressed to assume a character in a Sacha Baron Cohen flick was worth much.

Haven't seen Take Me Home Tonight, myself, so I honestly can't respond to her performance there.

Have seen Super-Ex, and while the character admittedly was more toned down than most of Faris' roles, I didn't think it was particularly special. She took the backseat to the two leads and Izzard.

Aykroyd's hinted that (at least in HIS version of the script) the female GB could well be the unofficial team lead. I just can't see Anna Faris carrying that role.

I dont think that Ghostbusters was that smart, it was pretty basic I think. Good performances and no it wasnt vulgar or that crude, but I remember getting \\the jokes by the time I was 13/

It was very 80s, like most flicks of that time. Meaning every other character was kind of a smart ass.

Winston should be President, which would guarantee that the movie features a major national or global catastrophe.

Maybe GB3 can satirize all the Paranormal Activity and exorcism movies that seem to be so big these days.

That would be great as long as it's not the crux of the film; if they have the satire/parody in a couple scene that'd be good. I actually really want that to happen and not just Paranormal Activity, all these found footage horror films too

Yeah, we said a while back that a teaser trailer should have been starting out like one of those japanese horrors with the little black haired girl crawling around, then suddenly getting proton streamed and trapped from out of nowhere.

Dunno how I'd feel about them satirizing stuff like that rather than just telling their own story, but I always thought that if GB came back it could have a lot of fun with the trailers, etc., by mocking what Hollywood's doing with "horror" now.

The GB movies set their own comedy standards, not really satirizing others, so they should not start now. This isn't a crappy Scary Movie after all...

Well that's an over the top, cheap spoof. Not real satire.

That said, I agree that I wouldn't want the movie to get too satirical of modern depictions.

I hope the GB creative team realize that every movie does not have to end with a Kong like giant walking the streets of New York - that was yet another problem with GB2

They just need to stick to the original format (except it always being Dana Barrett who keeps getting herself in trouble) just update it to modern times. New equipment/Vechles maybe even locations. As somebody has said earlier bring it out of New York a bit. Maybe Europe (Some of them Big Haunted Castles).
