Chicago has become the new New York in fiction as of late. Basically when you want a giant metropolitan backdrop but don't want to use too many famous landmarks.

Chicago would be my choice bit sometime should be spent at the New York fire station. Maybe then they need to be moving cities for whatever reason.

I like my idea of there being some already established Ghostbuster working for Ray and Egon who don't go on Field duty any more. The Ghostbusters are Led into the Field by Winston who is probably more in shape than the other guys.

Then maybe more join and a new branch could open up in another city. Then going forward if there is anymore movies it could be based in multible locations or one film in the New York Branch another film in the Chicago or Los Angeles or wherever branch.


I think I may have just turned Ghostbusters into CSI.

I think the equipment would upgrade, mostly because of how far technology has come in the last couple decades. However, I don't want someone to pull out their iphone and using it as a trap, saying something like "oh, there's an app for that."

I'm surprised Ghostbusters didn't take place in Chicago being that Dan Aykroyd loves this city.

Not a bad idea chris. I still perfer to have oscar be a buster since he was around ghosts as a kid and wat not. So I can see it being his dream growing up ove the yrs. I like your ideas for cumberbatch guy could work.

Though with dan always saying ray/egon would be all banged up. I still say winston for mayor from my earlier idea. To explain why he doesn't bust any more. But I agree we need to not have it be they closed up shop again.

So I still again go with my idea venkman left after a few yrs after gb 2. So ray/egon/winston remained busting. Then winston went into politics and became mayor. So that left egon and ray left. And all the years been a toll on them. And they can't hack it any more. But still been busting lower class ghosts from time to time. And no huge threats have happened for awhile. So they never thought of new blood.

Then something happens that causes major chasos of ghost breakoutt/return to nyc. So they then decide to hire new folks. Which we can get three new busters there. And throw in plot of oscar wanting to join now that e is older. But ray/egon won't allow it cause dana made them promise not to let oscar come to harm from ghosts again. Which pisses oscar off. And one night he steals a pack and trap and goes after a ghost but can't do it alone and ray/egon new hires save oscar. And then let him officially join the team.

Then we get into montague scenes of the new team learning to bust and catching easy ghosts. And then end with idea of the new team gets caught and ray/egon have to save them and winston too. Who through course of film if mayor trys to sway public to new group. And they have to strap up once more to save newbies and the world. Here we can also toss venkman in too if murray does a cameo at least or if not that congrulates new bunch at the very end. And there you go. You can also toss in dana into a small cameo at start or end. And there you go.

Also I said this the other day as cool as other locales are. Nyc is a character itself to the film. So we need to keep it there too. Plus they can always throw in some mumbo gumbo that nyc is a major hotspot for ghosts. Then maybe in a possible second new film have the new team have a out of nyc adventure.

As for tech I could see having original tech used at start. Then when we get to middle the new team creates new stuff. So that leaves the old packs open for ineventiable old guys saving the day end scene.

How about this idea Oscar hearing the stories from Dana on the GB's decides to do a low rent tv show in NYC like the Ghost Hunters on Syfy called the Ghost Chasers with 3 of his friends Jake, Eddie, and Jessica. The stumble across a cult that is bring a big bad ass demigod to enslave the world. Because of this the ghost world is reopen Oscar and his friends try to get the guys to suit up one more time to save the world.

Jake, Eddie, and Jessica ? Throw in a gorilla named Tracy and you have Filmation's Ghostbusters

Again, I think that'd seem kind of impractical... and I can't see the studio standing for it, since they're obviously looking at this film as a way of rebooting the entire franchise. They're going to want the new team to have its own look and feel so they can eventually move on.

There was many upgrade in The Ghostbuster game that could easily be brought into this. Plus I seem to remember Ray had a boat in this 2 Ecto 8 I think it was called.

I don't see why they wouldn't throw in some new tech be it pke meter/proton packs. Doing a special car forr a certain ghost type is a logical move. And this isn't rebooting series just continuing it with the chance of it becoming a new ongoing series.

Just a random thought. I often wondered how Sam and Dean Winchester would handle things in the GB or RGB universe, due to the different laws of physics of paranormal elimination. In the " Supernatural " universe, ghost can actually be destroyed with the salting and burning of the bones of the ghosts graves or items the ghost chose to attach itself in order to remain in this world. In the RGB episode about the " Robo-Buster", Egon explained that ghosts cannot be destroyed, only contained indefinately or expelled to another dimension.

Yep, you're right, based on Filmations Live action Ghost Busters show from the seventies. But, one could argue that the very very first Ghostbusters were Mickey, Donald and Goofy in the 1937 toon, " Lonesome Ghosts ", as the Ajax Ghost Exterminators LOL !
