I think their best bet would be to wait a little longer and deliver a proper reboot to jumpstart a whole new (but familiar) franchise for a new generation. Using the source material, a good filmmaker could deliver a fresh take on the mythology without being beholden to what's come before in the continuity or being forced to shoe-horn the older actors into the project. Tying it into the pre-existing franchise would make it easier for the project to fail, IMO.

Now that we've lost Harold Ramis and with Bill Murray's reluctances, I think either a "passing of the torch" or a reboot is the only way to go.

I think it would be better to use a mix of male and female.

As much as I love the original film, GB much like Gremlins will be hard to redo the concept with different people. It will just end up being a lot of original ideas being treated as a retread.

NEGATIVE. Etan Cohen (Men in Black 3) was hired 2 years ago to re-write the Gene and Lee script. The "all female ghostbusters" has been a rumor for years. Trust me, I've been following GB3 news since Ben Stiller and Chris Farley were rumored to be in it.
