Ghostbusters 3 - Part 2

Maybe or maybe not, since they just directed 22 Jump Street, a sequel to a film based on a 25 year old TV show.

but 21 jump street was their first live action movie. this is different. this would be the third live action movie which would be a third sequel and the fans are sharpening knifes to attack.

'''why is the proton stream now a different color''
''they crossed proton streams and nothing happened''

i feel sorry for everyone who will direct. they can not win. the fact that there are so fans who bashed and attacked Bill Murray because he didnt sign the script. there are fans who think that he needs to force himself into liking the script and star in the movie. there is no option where 63 old Bill Murray says NO.

It's not that different, dark b. Don't think it's beneath them.

The issue here, me thinks, is that they're not given full control creatively with GB3, or they think it's just in bad taste to not include Murry/ or the death of Ramis.

bump.

Even though he's on Marvel's radar for Ant-Man, The Wrap are saying that Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, Gangster Squad) is also in contention for this movie. If he can deliver something more like the former then we could have a great movie, but if it'll be like the latter... Yeah, no.

They really should just drop this whole idea. Unless the movie is a work of genius it will be considered a disappointment, and the chances of it being a work of genius are extremely small.

I'm glad Miller and Lord turned this down, I think they've got far more interesting things on their plate than yet another 1980's reboot - and I loved 21 Jump Street and am looking forward to 22 Jump Street.

I'll believe it when I see trailer.

It would have to capture the magic of the first one and I don't think that's possible. It takes a perfect storm of everything coming together just right that separates a classic from a mere good film, including intangibles that no one has any control over.

I mean if they want to resurrect the IP then fine, get a good cast and have at it and we'll see how it works out but with Ramis gone the old team is kaput aside from cameos.

Heck, they couldn't even recreate the magic with GBII when they still had everyone around. Trying to do it now just won't work, everyone will be expecting the brilliance of the original, which isn't going to happen no matter what. This is not to say that they can't make a good movie, it just won't be as good as the first one, and unfortunately that's what they have to live up to.

Is good point. I kind of hate GB2 so I didn't even think about it lol.

If it gets made I'll watch it. I don't have any kind of hope for it though.

Then I am a horror fan and sat through 6 horrid sequels of Nightmare on Elm Street
At least 7 horrid Friday the Thirteenth films
Countless WTFs with Saw (it lost it's need after the third film)

As long as the next one isnt just a remake of the first like GB2 was

No, just no.

Does this movie really need to happen though? Just...just let it go. I've wanted it so hard, especially after the video game was so good, and then Harold Ramis left us, and my interest left with him. I've been convinced Murray was not coming back to the project for a while, but Egon was just as big a part, and as much as I love Aykroyd and Hudson, I just don't think they can fill the mentor roles quite as well without him. So please, if they want to remake/reboot in another 20 years, saying a new group picks up the legacy after the originals are gone, then whatever, but I'm pretty much done with the idea of this happening.

It only needs to happen in that the studio wants to cash in on the reputation of the original and the interest generated by Ramis' passing. Otherwise, I haven't noticed a huge demand in the pop culture world for more Ghostbusters. I think the general public feels it's already been done enough to move on from it.

Someone could take the basic concept of ghost hunting and do something similar with it without ripping off GB directly.

Honestly the only reason Ghostbusters isn't as big a phenomenon is simply because Bill Murray never got over a few arguments with an old friend, and the rest of the cast couldn't let the fact that Bill Murray isn't the most important thing in the franchise go.

Had one or the other happened they may have actually made a few more good movies in their prime.

I wonder if Sony and Sam Raimi still aren't on good terms. I think he'd be a great choice for a third movie.

I just don't want this film anymore, 10 years ago sure. Maybe, 5 years ago... But, with Ramis' death and Murray's utter lack of want to film this, just let it be.

My interest in this movie has gone away too. Without Ramis and Murray, the movie just wouldn't seem right.

It is almost a comforting thought to know this movie is never going to happen now. The further from Ramis' death and Murray's lack of involvement, the more I think it would be a mistake to do a third movie.

When it comes to a reboot/remake I'm less against it but I really don't think that is going to happen either any time soon.

I wouldn't mind seeing them reboot 10-20 years down the road and make a trilogy of some sorts.

The original Ghostbusters is getting a theatrical release in 700+ theaters on August 29th for its 30th anniversary.

^^^That's cool!

I'd love for them to do something like that for Back to the Future's anniversary next year...

They should do what WB did with the Lego: Batman movie. Take the animation from The Ghostbusters Game & remove the huds. Turn it more into an animated third movie for this set. Its cheating but hey more bang for your bucks

The actors already felt bored in the 2nd film. The franchise is simply dead, the video game was a good gift to fans, but we shouldn't expect a third movie anytime soon. Considering SONY's present financial crisis, they'll probably try to crack a reboot, i just hope that if it hapens, it's done by the right people, i would hate it to be done by the likes of MacFarlane.

I think you are not understanding what Im suggesting. Im not saying do a third movie or animated movie. Just take the video game animation & use that as a third animated movie & remove any unnecessary on screen stuff like the WB did with Lego: Batman
