Ghostbusters 3 - Part 2

Only way Melissa should be in this is if she is the one that dies before the opening credits.

But then they would probably give that character a twin sister so that Melissa can still be in it. Probably best 2 avoid that then

Make Melissa this versions Slimer, though she is far from a Belushi.

I'm 100% ok with this GBs happening, but I don't want her in this movie and I loved her in Bridesmaids. It's just that after The Heat and other movies I discovered that it's all she can do.

I think she's funny. Also she recently starred opposite Bill Murray so at least there's some type of connection. Other than that I can't say I'm excited. The idea that this won't have anything to do with the past films is sort of depressing. It makes sense because it would be hard to do a follow up , but I wanted to ride the wave of nostalgia. As someone stated. " I have a bad feeling about this"

And what are you rallying for? What is the need for this crusade for women that you have embarked on?

Crusade for women? I say I support women in film then yeah, I support women to succeed and fail in film. Not just when it's something I don't care about.

Rallying for? Nothing. I love the Ghostbusters. I wouldn't have gone to to see the new movie just because the original crew were in it.

I love Indiana Jones but I didn't see that CS movie cause it looked terrible.

Sometimes it's best to just let these type character stay where they were.

At one point, fans thought there was no way to recast Kirk and Spock, yet Abrams managed to do it.

So I'm going to wait and see what Feig comes up with. I've learned from my previous "fanboy" assumptions.

Why they couldn't do the movie like the Extreme Ghostbusters cartoon?:

They could have taken some things from it. A new team that gets training and the equipment from the old team. There could be one or two women. Ray could be in the some role as Egon was in the cartoon. I just can't understand why they chose to make a reboot instead of this.

That reminds me of the claim that "black people can't be racist because (fill in your own "reason")".

I wouldn't mind it so much if they made a continuation of the old series, where a group of hilarious and overweight women became Ghostbusters. But to reboot the whole series and transform the characters into overweight women is stupid. Why not make something original instead?

*Cough* Battlestar Galactica *cough*

*cough*Starbuck became a woman *cough*

*cough* it had nothing to do with the original *cough*

*cough* it was good(mostly) and acclaimed *cough*

Because reboots are "kewl".

It didn't hurt that the original BSG, while a cult favorite, was pretty terrible. We are talking about the Ghostbusters here. An all time flick.

I can accept that. Except that didn't stop the Starbuck should be a man argument for no other reason than it used to be that way.

I'm really starting to get tired of this fan amnesia. Let's try Miles Morales... nope Spiderman is Peter Parker. Okay. Let's try John Stewart since he's more familiar...nope Hal needs to be first. Female Ghostbuster could be cool...nope they need to be men, majority male, or the daughters of the original male team...cool a black Johnny Storm...nope this ain't the real Fantastic Four. Cool Iris is black...nope that means Wally is black(Wally isn't even scheduled to appear).

I'm hardly saying no one should ever complain, but at some point it would be nice to simply hate something for what it is and not what it isn't. Everyone here has a reboot they like (Star Trek) and one they don't (Spiderman, MOS). It's a crap shoot.

If you don't like Feig or any of the movies he's done, I would definitely understand not wanting him directing Ghostbusters. Other than that, there's nothing here but speculation about who the women will be. Melissa McCarthy isn't cast in the movie and hasn't said she wants to be in it(they might be shooting while her show is on so she couldn't)

Gender and ethnicity flipping pre-established characters is lazy. Create some new characters and roles for people. It's like they are getting the "sloppy seconds" of mostly white dudes and all it does it tick a lot of people off when the whole argument could have been avoided in the first place by calling their roles something else. That goes for reboot BSG Starbuck as well.

At least I don't think that's what Feig is doing here with a Petra Venkman or some nonsense like that. It comes across as though he wants actual new characters that are women.

Well said. Especially that last bit.

And I don't really get the Melissa McCarthy hate. I get that she's overexposed, but she's also capable of being genuinely funny, in terms of comic timing and delivery, not just crashing into things.

She reminds me of the loud mouthed person in front of you at line at the grocery store. Funny for a short amount of time before it becomes obnoxious until you want her to grab her box of twinkies and leave already

The Starbuck thing was a different argument from this, and more importantly misses the point of why some aren't behind this. I like the idea of the all female Ghostbusters. But the fundamental idea of the Ghostbusters isn't a random group of people coming together to fight ghost. It was Egon, Venkman, Ray and to a lesser extent Winston. It is about those characters. I am not gonna tell the story of Sherlock Holmes without Sherlock Holmes, or Zatoichi without Zatoichi. I am not gonna tell Pride and Prejudice with Elizabeth or Darcy. Remember the brilliant idea of an Indiana Jones movie with Indiana Jones?

With one of two of the originals passing on the mantel it add some legitimacy to the new generation. JJ and Lucasfilms understand this, which is why they are bringing back Luke, Han and Leia to do that exact thing in VII.

Melissa McCarthy wouldn't make or break this for me. It would be all about the who they got for the other three. Anna Kendrick would be a dream for me. Same with Kristen Wiig.

"Passing the torch" isn't going to have much meaning with Ramis dead and Murray uninterested in participating. Frankly with only Ray and Winston available I'd just as soon see a total reboot rather than kludge them in. It'd feel hollow and unsatisfying with half the team missing anyway.

The original flick is 30 years old and a bonafide classic. No sequel or 'shared GB universe' is going to recapture that magic so people might as well accept that fact right now. This movie will be it's own thing, and it might even be good if the junior high crowd around here can stop making fat jokes long enough to give it a chance.

Star Trek was Kirk, Spock, and Bones until it wasn't. It was new Generation. They didn't need a torch passing ceremony. It just was.

Like I said, it was never going to the original team. That's partly why Indiana:CS failed. Same with Prometheus, the last Rambo, the last few Terminators with and without Arnold. They approached it with trying to recapture the franchise magic.

Prometheus was fine as a sci-horror movie. The places it failed was when it tried to outdo/redo the Alien franchise. Look at the 21 Jump Street franchise or Planet of the Apes. Two other franchises that people were like "why bother" or "they shouldn't do it."

^^^THIS.

Man, i must have the Ebola.

I don't mind its an all female cast (I would prefer mix-gender). A poor script, cast and director is what concerns me.

Ghostbusters 3 (reboot) has been in limbo for years now. And to be honest, I can't see it happening. Every-time news hit, I blow it off. When the first set photos are leaked, then I'll believe its happening.

They may as well just create something entirely new, upon thinking about it a bit more if this is meant to be an entirely different world with no connection to the original film then all they're really doing is leeching on to the Ghostbusters name. It's not even a passing of the torch, just a straight up name grab.

Part of the charm of the Ghostbusters was that it was a more organic, artist-generated concept. The story was lovingly crafted by Dan and Harold, and they intended to bring their friend Belushi on board, and when that became impossible they brought in their mercurial colleague Bill Murray. Throughout the whole movie, there is a sense of integrity and ownership of the film between the actors and the parts they play.

A GB reboot, regardless of whether it stars men, women or CGI transforming robots, will be missing that essential heart and charm.

I hope they subtly acknowledge the difference in time periods with the art direction.

Like having the proton packs not as large and clunky. plus the wands should be wireless.

I hope the don't use the exact same Ecto-1. Maybe give them an old van. People think it's a food truck or something else. lol

Maybe the jumpsuits would be dark blue in this version.

There will be a lack of soul in this film without any of the original cast members.
