Stupid Krispy Kreme closing down in my area. Sure, it deserves to because it can't compete with a local brand, but dammit, I want Ghostbusters donuts.

I've posted this before as a personal vision for the film. Essentially, the Ghostbusters have franchised, with regional offices. NYC, LA, Chicago are all cities with heavy concentrations of historic buildings and rich haunting tales. Maybe throw in Charleston or Savannah, and New Orleans.

People I see are latching onto Marvel because it's easy to nitpick people trying to copy that business model. That's not what Dan is saying. He's talking about studios who have these ongoing, tentpole franchises. He's talking about being an anchor brand for Sony. He mentions more than just Marvel. It's smart, and recognizes there's a lot of untapped potential in the franchise. He wants to not only pass the torch, but really build something big.

X-Men and Fantastic Four are HUGE properties for Fox.

X-Men yes. But I am not gonna go off topic here about fox's horrible treatment 2 the Fantastic Four. But Dan Akroyd seems like a crazy old man who just can not let things go. He probably spends his days calling & begging 2 get another Ghostbusters movie made with him in it

Fantastic Four is big for them in that they have a lot riding on it. They need it to work this time, especially if they have notions of tying it into X-Men.

Akroyd knows GB is his legacy, and unfortunately thanks to circumstances,(coughbillmurraycough) it never really reached it's full potential.I think (at least in Akroyd's mind) they should be on GB IX by now, handing over the reins a la other 80's classics (Star Wars,Star Trek,Indy Jones, etc) for an ongoing series.

I think it's another case of finding it hard to see the series exist without the original cast.I mean,Indy without Ford,Rocky without Stallone. In some cases it doesn't seem doable.GB without Murray (and now Ramis) just isn't that appealing.

For what it's worth, for a Ghostbuster TNG,this would be my cast:
Chris Pratt (the Venkman heir)
Zachery Levy (the Ray heir)
Kevin Hart (the Winston heir)
Emma Stone (the Egon heir)

A Ghostbusters cinematic universe? Wowww...

I mean I love GB dearly...but seriously, this cinematic universe stuff is threatening to jump the shark in a hurry.

When there's a precedent set, it's fine. Marvel and DC? You bet. The Universal Monsters? That can work. X-Men? Possibly. Spider-Man? Ehhh... it's a stretch, but I guess it's possible.

But Ghostbusters? How does that work? One movie set on the Ghostbusters, and the next one set... on more Ghostbusters? That's not a cinematic universe, that's a franchise. :o

Extreme Ghostbusters in live-action. The surviving older GB's as mentors/allies.

so it seems that we hopefully will get various version of the Ghostbusters aside from the rumored all female team

in that case, this would be my ideal team made up of 5 members (gotta remember, Louis became an unofficial 5th member in the 2nd film in a way):

Charlie Day
Will Arnett
Paul Rudd
Sean William Scott
Damon Wayans Jr

They'll do alien Ghostbusters and earth Ghostbusters and then do a team up film lol. Seriously, a Ghostbusters universe sounds like mistake.

I'd love to see them come up with a decent sequel/ reboot. It can be done with the right people. The idea of an all female team doesn't sound bad either. I could see that working. Unfortunately it will never be the same. Ramis is gone and Murray is still holding out. So knowing that it will never be the same I can't set myself up for too much disappointment. I'd rather them try than nothing at all.

I'm still with the 2 men, 2 women kind of Ghostbusters movie. Hell, I wouldn't mind if they went with 6 Ghostbusters and had it split between men and women.

The fact that Akyroyd keeps bouncing around ideas about the next movie makes me think that nobody is satisfied with an all female cast.

I think Emma Stone is a must for this movie. She would be perfect.

This is what Dan should do...reboot GB as a series on Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon. Draw out the defeating of Gozer in the first season then work on a GB:LA in the current second season of GB.

Interesting, but disagree on your "Winston." Winston is supposed to be the low-key, common-sense guy; Kevin Hart would have to smoke an entire house full of weed to get down to that level.

I would make Kevin Hart the Venkman, Chris Pratt the Ray, Zack Levi the Winston and Emma Stone is fine as the Egon.

Emma as the offspring of Janine and Egon would be interesting.

That would be interesting, very interesting, but Ramis was against the implied romance between the two (which is why it was ignored in GB2), so I'd rather respect the spirit of his preference and leave that out.

Emma as the offspring of Janine and Louis, however, that would make a lot of sense.

i don't think an expanded universe sounds all that bad, if they just stick with a just a gb live action trilogy, and maybe some cartoons.

I like that pratt as oscar suggestion. to be fair though, I'd like pratt as hamlet. Aubrey Plaza, Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone ( i really want to see those two in one movie together) and jessica williams as zeddmore's daughter.
