So is it a bad thing to wish that this was a proper Ghostbusters movie? They should have done that movie first and then do spin-off like this. I think this is a wrong way to indroduce the series to a new generation. I have nothing against women. They could make a Ghostbusters movie that has 2 men and 2 women.

SHOOSH! There is no room for a logical discussion about a mixed-gender team! Everybody who disagrees with this movie are sexist man-pigs, that's what the entire internet agreed upon!!

by focusing all posts on the girl's breasts behind Melissa isnt this proof that the boys are angry with this movie because the studio didnt cast hot sexy womaen??

a male viewer of blockbusters needs a male character for action and a female character to look attractive. thats why the majority wouldnt have a problem with a reboot with 4 male characters IMO.

here a new image. complain about her haircut, nose and eyebrows.

No, people who constantly say sexist things are sexist pigs. If you don't want any push back, don't say sexist crap. It is just that easy. :yay:

How is this not a 'proper' Ghostbusters movie? We already had an all-male cast and it was great. If you want to introduce a younger gen to the Ghostbusters just point them to the original. It holds up plenty well.

If I want to bash this movie for being an all female cast and literally Flip the roles from the original that were males into females and vice versa then I will. This apologetic PC crap society has to stop for gods sake.

The first two movies weren't mixed-gender, why does this one have to be?!

1. Bash the movie all you want, for whatever reason you want to, just don't pretend that all reasons are good reasons.
2. There might be too much "apologetic PC crap" nowadays, but this isn't the line for that.
3. You're not going to be the one to stop it anyway.

I'll be honest. I hated the idea of the female cast at first. It felt forced. I'm pretty sure I stated that in this thread. I started to get over that, and it was with the casting of Chris Hemsworth that I really understood what Paul Feig is trying to do, conceptually.

I don't mind if he wants to go out on a limb with his concept. I think it's apparent that we're going to get many different takes on the Ghostbusters in subsequent movies. It's no different than all of the extreme takes on characters like Batman. One version out of many that I may not like doesn't bother me, and shouldn't bother anyone else. It doesn't erase what previously came before it, and it won't stop new and different ones from coming later on. If something's not for me, I don't have to hate it with the same vitriol that gets displayed in this thread. I can just be a little bummed, get my head out of my ass, and look forward to the next thing.

No kidding. You say anything about this you're a sexist misogynist. You say you don't want a black Spider-Man or a black Johnny Storm, you're a racist, you say you don't want [insert straight superhero] to be gay, you're a homophobe

Everyone's a SJW now, sickening.

Btw, I wouldn't care if it's an all female cast, I watch shows that are all female driven, current show I'm watching right now is The L Word (that was after watching Orange is the New Black) I'm in the third season, the last episode I watched, Bette and Tina were having a difficult time with the adoption agency lady and ended with Tina chatting online with a guy. I even have the chorus of the theme song memorized.

The problem I have with this GHINO movie is that if they're not going to follow the continuity, use an all female cast and throw the middle finger at what Dan Ackroyd and Harold Ramis created, then name it something else, change up the logo, make the proton packs look different, or don't use proton packs, find another way to trap the ghosts. Get rid of the director and Melissa McCarthy (those two are the real problem I have with this).

This isn't Ghostbusters. It's a cheap knock off that's going to fail.

This is definitely the line for that and there is no might only is. Everyone offends someone now for something. I dont like this cast at all and this age of fembot movements only furthers my thoughts.

At this point, there can be no "proper" Ghostbusters movie. Harold Ramis is gone. So any new Ghostbusters movie will be widely different than what we have gotten in the past. So yes, it is kind of bad to want a "proper" Ghostbusters movie. Because it will never happen again.

But the sheer focus on the all female cast is highly disturbing. I don't know what makes an all female team so offensive compared to an all male or mixed team. Why does the all female team (with some good talent) make it not a "proper" Ghostbusters movie? I mean, just look at the sexist comments in this thread.

Im not sexiest for hating the director and casting choices.

Yep, you're totally not sexist. :whatever:

Heaven forbid every single piece of media isn't geared towards men. This isn't some sacred text it's freakin' Ghostbusters for gods sake.

Not liking the cast or director is one thing.

It is another thing to post some of the stuff that has been posted in this thread.

It really is a sad state of affairs society has led us to.

I'm all for female Ghostbusters, but would've preferred a mixed team. Yes, the original had four males, but does reversing the gender of the remake fix the original problem? It's normal for people to want to see somebody they relate to (gender or ethnicity) as a primary protagonist (in this case, a Ghostbuster). Since the fanbase is primarily male they could've had at least one male GB.

I'm all for female led media too. OITNB, Pitch Perfect, and a few of Feig's other films are very recent examples of great female led entertainment. I'm also very excited about Captain Marvel, Jessica Jones, and Daisy Ridley's Rey seemingly being the main character in TFA. Bring on the strong female leading roles.

All that said, I'm still going to see the movie, I'm still going to support the franchise, and I like what I've seen from the cast and production so far.

Ok women got 50 shades of grey magic mike xxl this weekend both designed to make women flock to theaters to druel over man meat and make women look silly in the process. But thats cool as long as an all women magic mike isnt out then the fembots would riot. Cant have your cake and eat it too.

You cant curtail and hide others opinions even if you dont like them, just ignore those comments and move on, as long as there not life threatening or curse words.

Ahh, so as long as you are not threatening or cursing, it is okay to post sexist, racist, etc comments. Or, not called out on those comments. Gotcha.

This bickering needs to stop, saying you wanted the film to be in line with the original and have an all male cast is not sexist, using terms like fembot and making snide remarks about the looks of the women cast is crass and not welcome here.

I understand people disliking the idea of not making the movie similar to the old movies when it comes to completely flipping gender of characters, but I'll have to agree with this.

New movie deserves a chance.

Awe, man! We were doing so good on these boards for a while. Now we're starting to look like the insanity of GBFans.com.

Here's the thing, sexism isn't just when we go all 1950's style and smack the ladies bum while telling her to get herself into the kitchen. It's a bit more insidious than that. We don't even know it's there. It doesn't make you a terrible person when you say you don't know why there can't be a man on the team, but it is a little sexist to say that an all female cast is a problem. You're essentially saying there needs to be a man on this team. The fact that an all male cast wouldn't be a problem is a problem. And having a token 'whatever' on the team doesn't fix the problem.

I know all the hate isn't coming from the misogynists. There are issues with the continuity and I know some just never wanted any new movie to begin with. But the moment you mention fembots or anything about the females in general, it's going to come across as a little sexist.

Oh, and this movie will not fail. Quit dreaming haters. You focus the lens on die hard GB fans and you'd think nobody wants this thing. You widen that lens to die hard nerds and the discussion becomes a bit more nuanced. You widen it to the general public and their are a ton of people very interested in this film. The more we male nerds kick our feet over women as Ghostbusters the more women from the general audience are going to see it in spite.

Bingo. Feig, McCarthy and Wiig being involved pretty much guarantees this is going to be a hit with the general public. The Ghostbusters brand name, mythos and whatnot is just an added bonus.

I bet on a fail AFAIC. It's a gut feeling. I have no faith in resurrected franchises.
