I wish they'd cast Elizabeth Banks as one of the team, she'd be a great fit for this I think.

question. if Harold Ramis hadnt died do you think GB3 would happen? i think Murray would never sign on and they would never do it without him.

Murray refusing to sign on is why the studio never pushed forward with a sequel. And it wasn't until Ramis died that they decided to do something entirely different with Feig. Rather than the logical route of remaking/rebooting the original as is.

I haven't seen the original Ghostbusters since I was a kid so I don't remember much from those movies.

It takes place in NY, they're just filming in Boston.

I haven't seen the original Ghostbusters since I was a kid so I don't remember much from those movies.

I think it does, but only based on conversations with people I know. There's some that have heard the news and finally sat down to watch the first one. They think it's pretty good and want to see the new one. Some friends never got into Ghostbusters, but think this will be a good entry point. Some are fans who aren't happy about the reboot, but will give it a chance because it's Ghostbusters. It's funny how many people I've spoken to who have never seen Ghostbusters, but have heard of it and that recognition translates into giving this new film a chance. People here won't understand, but the big draw for people a lot of people I talked to is Melissa McCarthy.

Once you step away from the die hards like me you see a much different reception to the film, though I've noticed that more on places like Ghostbusters Fans have lightened up a bit, especially when Feig gave detailed info to proppers about the pack.

I would say it does. There's more than enough new material here for the film to stand alone. Nods to the established canon wouldn't have hurt one bit for either the general audience who wouldn't notice or the fans that would.

There would literally be no reason to anything other than the original song. That would be like making a new Star Wars and replacing the theme with something from AC/DC.

Some songs are just too iconic to be replaced.

They already did the remix rap version version of the classic theme in Ghostbusters II (with Run DMC). If they use the theme (from a marketing standpoint, they would be foolish not to), they should stick to the classic Ray Parker Jr. version.
