Ghostbusters 3 - Part 4

Maybe but it doesn't mean that people have anything to against women. For many people it is like if they made a new Indiana Jones movie and made him a woman. I know it's not the same thing but it feels like it.

You're right, and someone with a brain was smart enough to make Lara Croft. Not say "oh lets make an Indiana Jones game and make him a her"

If this wasn't going to be a sequel or a continuation of the '80s movies, then come up with their own stuff.

So far all of this is just a rip off of what Reitman, Aykroyd and Ramis did. Did those three rip off the 70s The Ghost Busters? Did they use their logo? or add a gorilla to the movies?

This new movie should've had their own logo, their own vehicle, their own weapons for fighting and trapping ghosts. But nope, this is all a rip off, and a bad one at that.

I just don't get why, if you're going to go to the trouble of rebooting Ghostbusters with a female cast, you don't try and differentiate the visuals from the original as much as possible. At the moment it looks like something resembling a fan film, it's not trying to create its own identity, it's just borrowing everything from the original and tinkering with it.

That is the magic of this studio & director. No imagination

The Ecto-1A from the second movie had a lot of stripes too.

This film has one of the biggest mysteries of them all......why didn't any of the writers contact Bill Murray when the third movie featured the original gang? Ask him to see what he wants in the movie.

Why was that hard to do?

Bill never liked Ghostbusters. He only ever did them to get other films made and now he is big enough to do whatever he wants without doing favors.

the whole female only thing has two sides and sadly both are as thick headed as each other.

you have the one side which screams sexism and Misogyny if you say you don't like even the tiniest aspect of the production no matter how you present your opinion with little room for middle ground in discussion

and then you have the actual misogynists who just see a group of women in a favorite movie, fly into an incoherent blind mental state and sound like cavemen who have just seen the sun

i dont know whats its been like here as ive not been watching this thread but other sites is hard to get even a general discussion on this film without one or the other flying off the handle and screaming blue murder

I never heard that before. Link?

Bill never liked Ghostbusters.

That's not true. He likes the first film very much. He was even in Zombieland which had a big fraction of it about the Ghostbusters and he even appeared like this, not so long ago

ok ok... he hated the second one. Still a good reason to dislike doing a third one.

so has this SNL Writer ever acted? the supposed villian

once again... f*** this movie

I don't think they're being truthful about having no connection to the original film.

I'll have to agree that it wouldn't make much sense to use a '59 caddy, but this still looks like a ****** dime store replica. I understand everything is supposed to look "slapped together" but if these ladies are trying to run a business and want to be taken seriously, they need a better vehicle. I'm more inclined to believe that when the government starts backing them up, they upgrade the equipment and car. At least I'm hoping, I'm not a supporter of this particular project but I am a supporter of Ghostbusters and this movie is going to be imprinted on a new generation.

The concept of "slapped together" is found in the original film, too.

I'm not sure where the idea that the Ghostbusters ever had anything but a beater that they retrofitted for transportation is coming from. The '59 Caddy in Ghostbusters was a 25 year old piece of junk. This, near as I can tell, is also going to be a 25 year old piece of junk.

I don't think it's a lack of imagination...it is a reverence to the original concepts with a different spin.

Yup, though I do think the '59 piece of junk cleaned up a bit better. Really, like the packs and the uniforms, we need to see it in action. Watch it fly out of the garage and cut a corner.

I really like that hood ornament, though. Nice throwback to RGB.

I love the '59 so much more than what they're using now. That's more a commentary on how much car design went into the dark ages for a while rather than an assault on this particular movie, though. A 1990 Caddy for this movie is equivalent to the 1959 Caddy in 1984. I think it's a bit more appropriate they're using a hearse rather than an ambulance. I like that.

Edit: This may very well be a 1984 Cadillac hearse. It's not any later than 1989, as the tail lamps changed for 1990.

i think if everything was the same and the 4 members were male that literally everything would get praised. everything.

Hate to keep harping on this but you are most definitely right. Had everything we've been shown thus far stayed the same and the only thing that was changed was the four women characters to either: A) actresses deemed more "attractive" or B) men, people would not be complaining like they are.

I can't help but think it's a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation with this movies Ecto-1.

Had they gone the other route and modernized it with a brand new car model and 2015 tech, I can't help but feel that people would be throwing a fit as well.

I'd have to add:
C) Actresses and a Director who are talented
Mccarthy is... divisive, at the least
the two SNL women have no proven track record, and SNL has sucked for a few years now
and the only Feig movie that's been halfway decent was Bridesmaids, IMO

and, for the record, I hate all these designs too, so even with an all dude cast, I would disapprove

I love Wiig, so if you paired her up with an Adam McKay or an Edgar Wright, and 3 funnier (but not "prettier") actresses, I'd be a tad more optimistic

overall, I just think that, like Zemekis with BTTF, this movie shouldve been forbidden from ever being remade
its a classic, you leave that alone

ps. I was also against the idea of a GB3 while Akroyd and Ramis were working on it

so f***ing tired of people implying everyone who dislikes the news around this movie are sexist ass-hats
next person who says it joins my ignore list

Damned, indeed. I think people would be complaining regardless of the gender of the Busters, since this isn't the original guys.

I dunno, I remember when GB3 was being thrown around years ago, a lot of people wanted a newer model Ecto.

:whatever: And because they're women, you and others keep coming on here defending this movie as though you were life long fans.

If this was an all male cast, it wouldn't be on your radar.

Would it be on anyone's radar other than fans of GB in that case? It wouldn't be any particularly special or out of the ordinary.

The all female premise is probably the main reason I'm interested so without that, yea I probably wouldn't care.

ofcourse not, all you care about is your SJW agenda

If it was a true sequel to the first two with the originals coming back, yeah it would be on many people's radar.

If it was a sequel with one or two of the cast coming back, handing off the reigns to new recruits ala Extrene Ghostbusters, it too would be on a lot of people's radar

If it was a reboot, with an all male cast, or a mixed cast, it would be on people's radar, people would hate the reboot idea, but be ok with the cast.

But what we are getting is this abomination, that doesn't know if it's a sequel, reboot, re-imagining, that's ripping off from the original. With a hack director and an all female cast. So it's going to be on people's radar, just the negative side of it.

You really need to ease up with all this social justice warrior stuff and blanket statements based on nothing but your opinion.

If it bugs you that some people want to see a franchise they like led by females that is their prerogative, you don't have to agree or like it but your sour and condescending attitude is not welcome.

Also before you get on the train of me being PC or whatever, many here will tell you that I'm the guy that isn't a fan of the lead in the new SW being a girl, but I don't go to the section to constantly piss in the pool and trash the people that do, you need to rein it in and frankly given you see this as an abomination, I see little reason for your continued presence in this thread.
