No slightly lower. But this film also had a lower budget and came out during a pandemic year. The 2016 film almost cost twice as this one did. The rural setting and largely unknown main cast likely helped keep costs down.

Which was a big complaint of Dan Aykroyds

Also because this film did well past projections, it's likely going to get good word of mouth and do well over the holidays. It could end up even making more than the 2016 film did domestically.

I recall he said the 2016 had really expensive reshoots that Paul Feig was responsible for. He really did end up throwing Feig under the bus.

That said, the 2016 film was also set in NYC and had much bigger ghosts and more special effects shots.

"It is the right time for it. Before it wasn't but now it is"

"The move cost too much and he(Feig) didn't shoot scenes that we suggested"

So its ultimately going to be more successful than the 2016 movie? That's what I am rooting for, obviously.

I really loved it a lot and the energy was really good throughout. The opening with a former ghostbuster on the farm in the corn field etc was my favorite sequence. The young actress that played phoebe was phenomenal and felt like a true next generation ghostbuster that I could root for in sequels. It felt very much like the force awakens approach in 2015 but now I hope the sequel can go in an original direction with a new threat and not drudge up vigo or something we already did.

Did anyone else
want more Gozer like me? I actually loved everything with Gozer and it really left me wanting more in a good way. I thought the actress who portrayed her while not as creepy as the original actress, was still pretty good. I'd be really down to see Gozer again in a sequel but likely this is the last time they'll revisit the character. Hopefully there's an extended cut similar to the 2016 one where we can get more of her and a third act that feels less rushed.

Not particularly.

My pick for the next villain would be Samhain

This film was fantastic. Not perfect, I would have improved a few things, but it was very enjoyable and emotional. I cried quite a bit.

A great tribute, and might I say
the best use of 3D for a deceased actor that I've ever seen.
All of the effects in this were great. A lot of things to be expanded upon in future films, and I'm all for it. There were at least 3-4 references to GBII I caught so they are not ignoring it I'd say. I want to see this again asap, loved it that much. Easy 9/10 and probably my favorite film of the year.

Also I initially thought
Gozer was Olivia Wilde...looked a lot like her, especially after the cameo for Shandor I assumed it might have been a big name.

**Edit** Never mind it was :funny: didn't catch her name in the credits.

I believe the role is uncredited.

Yes, agree with this, I cried quite a bit as well, especially when Carrie Coon's character started to realize
her Dad sacrificed everything and never stopped caring when she discovered his Lab
.

I didn’t even realize that the girl’s name was Lucky. Other than Podcast, I can’t remember the other kids names.

Mckenna Grace is Phoebe. Finn Wolfhard is Trevor. Logan Kim is Podcast, and Celeste O'Connor is Lucky. Pheobe and Trevor's mom is Callie.

I do think they could've fleshed out Lucky a bit more considering she's one of the new team members.

Honestly, they could've fleshed out Trevor a bit more too. I know Phoebe was meant to be more or less the main character in this but there could have been more focus on the older kids.
