But Goosebumps only made $150.2 million. IT made 700 mil. you know which one sony will wanna go for.
I would assume they're looking at what they've already made compared to where the ceiling is. So, from Goosebumps - IT.
Either suggests the cost could be considerably brought down to justify this approach.

I thought we'd at least be getting college age like Extreme. Ah, well.

Yeah, I can't say I'm a big fan of turning this into a kid-led franchise. Like, this isn't even teens, apparently they're going with straight-up kids. Also, they'd have to be grand-kids of the originals if any of them have family connections. My enthusiasm has gone down a heck of a lot...

*kids are being chased by demons and gets in ecto 1 and starts driving like crazy around the countryside, protoning ghosts*

"Where did you learn how to drive?"

"....Mario Kart."

RATED PG!

Yupp, there goes any hope I had for this

I'll wait to hear it directly from Reitman's mouth, but if it's true it's obviously meant to cash in on the Stranger Things/It bandwagon.

Ok, where did that even come from? Do we really believe we're gonna get Ghostbusters 3 with a bunch of 12 year old kids? For real? I really doubt that.

Why shouldn’t it work anyway? As we’ve seen with IT and Stranger Things, supernatural with kids can work very well.

Lest we forget, we all fell in love with Ghosbusters as kids. There’s a reason they made a Saturday morning cartoon series.

Ugh, really? We already have Stranger Things and IT. Hell, the Stranger Things kids even wore the damn Ghostbusters suits in S2...This is such a cashgrab.

I presume this also means no NY.

Ugh. Maybe they should just let this franchise stay in the past. The first movie was the only really good one, anyway. The second one always kinda rubbed me the wrong way.

With each new day, there seems to be another media outlet angry with the fact that we're getting a follow-up to the original Ghostbusters, ignoring the 2016 reboot. And of course fans are getting attacked again for the reboot's failure.

People call fans entitled, yet we apparently owe the film studios our hard earned money, even if we don't care about the Movie. Honestly, all the senseless outrage is just fun to read. The Movie is already being attacked for having an all male cast, even though we officially know nothing about it.

Man, I pray this Movie will be well made and successful. I want to see how long "journalists" and twitter warriors are gonna keep their outrage up, because a studio makes a Movie that the general audience and old school fans might actually care about. Because, you know, that actually makes money.

Even if the leads turn out to be kids i don't think this will end up a kids nickelodeon movie or anything, i think they will probably go the Horror direction of IT.

And as for being the kids or grandkids of the original Ghostbusters... i dunno, i think that may be abit much to believe all the kids or grandkids of the originals come together. one of them could end up being related but my guess is that some kids will find something strange and spooky going on in their town and it leads them to investigate and finding Ray or something.

Plus the kids won't be driving the ecto1 presumably.

Im gonna guess its not being done to be a kids movie per say. its just the stranger things choice of direction.

Oh you know they'll drive it once.

And they also wouldn't be able to use the Proton Packs, since they are heavy even for adults. Unless they upgraded them between Ghostbusters 2 and now.

I'm assuming the apprehension is coming from Ghostbusters separates itself from all the monster hunting properties by being this little firefigter/pest control business.
If it goes The Monster Squad, Stranger Things, It, Goosebumps route, it's no longer Ghostbusters.

I wouldn't be surprised if they had a kid in a role like Dana was. She uncovers it. Maybe she's even Oscar's daughter.

Ray has to have parked Ecto. I would assume it's his farm, sold the occult bookstore and the rights to Ghostbusters which lead to a crappy sensationalized movie in 2016 :D . Winston I could see starting a small manufacturing facility developing and building prototypes and 3D printing. I'm assuming they'll address Egon as he passed in a research accident, perhaps his research released whatever this is going to be. Venkman I have no idea.

I'd say you only really need Ray, Winston, Oscar, maybe Dana, and a tribute to Egon to make this work. Even if it does predominately follow Oscar's daughter and her friends, you still need at least Ray and Winston to repair the gear.

I am excited for this. With the creative talent involved, at least I feel assured that we will get a solid entry to the GB franchise that will be a good followup to the original 2 movies. This is what the 2016 movie should have been. Not that abomination we got from Feig.

As for the rumors going around that the new film will center around kids, I wouldn't put much weight to those rumors. I'll wait until we get something official from Sony or Reitman. And even if kids are the protagonists, it's not always a bad thing. Not all of them are annoying. Case in point, look at Stranger Things, IT, Goonies, etc.

Well really look at the first ghostbusters. you had the typical ghosts but you also had supernatural dogs, a marshmallow man and this said to be god thats trying to be born. you could actually do alot thats kinda similar to some of those movies you listed.

Although i think they will wanna go abit scarier then goosebumps though. if they wanna follow the legacy then they probably have to go abit more edgier.

Basically if they are younger you need to go PG13 minimum.

I think that at least the main girl in the new Ghostbusters is related to someone from the original cast and here's why; It's said next to every character in the casting breakdown that they're looking at and are open for any ethnicity for the role, but...

she's the only one labeled as "Caucasian". So I think they are only looking for a Caucasian actress for her because she'll be related to the old cast somehow.

My guess is either Egon or Oscar has a daughter.

I think Oscar seems the most likely just to link it to GB2. plus Oscar would be like 30 or something.
