I know, I know. But I was a kid back then and I wanted to see somebody get killed... so if it was okay with me then it should have been okay with everyone else!

...or something...

It was a KIDS cartoon. They're not gonna have people die in a cartoon made for kids. Especially not in the 80's.

People will die. It'll be a PG-13 movie, it's just a matter of how graphic the deaths will be, which is to say, not very. You can show someone get shot, and as long as there isn't a copius amount of bloodshed, it'll be all good in a PG-13 film.

I know that. That-Guy and I were talking about the cartoon.

Jeez i hope they stop casting characters soon....

i dont want them to try and jam EVERYONE in

save some for the sequel:indy:

Good point. When you try to put too many characters in a film, that leaves little time for developing them.

And then you end up with Mortal Kombat:Annihilation.

Oh, boy. I hate totally forgotton about that pile of crap. That's one of those stupid movies where EVERY single scene is bad. And I mean EVERYTHING. How does a movie that terrible get made? Rolling around in American Gladiator cage balls... Motaro's John Travolta Grease hair... the cyborg motocross ninjas... the sh**ty fight between Sub-Zero and Scorpion... a love story that made Anakin and Amidala look like Casablanca... the list goes on forever.

I had more fun watching Mortal Kombat Annihilation than the original MK, just because it was so easy for me and my posse to slip into MST3k-mode. We laughed more during that movie than in 90% of the comedies from the last 8 years.

Haha, yeah... I love to "MST3K" bad movies. (I've done it so much I've made it a verb!) You should try it with that Ethan Hawke version of "Hamlet' if you ever get a chance. There are so many things in that POS to poke fun at, you'll have a blast.

In one of the script reviews it stated that Storm Shadow was responsible for slicing one of the prominent characters of the movie in half. My guess is that it will be Ripcord(Marlon Wayans.)

One can only hope.

I hope this movie is good, the cast looks good, Ray Park as Snake Eyes should be amazing, the only one who kind of makes me wonder is Marlon Wayans, I sure didn't see that coming, anyway great to hear that we will see G.I. Joe next summer.

God I hope not. I'm sure the answer is no.

It sure does sound like it:

"Just as he was in the first season of the Sunbow G.I. Joe series, Duke is clearly designated as the G.I. Joe commander. He is also recast as a much younger man, someone who appears to have just come to his 30s than a man going to his 40s. Scarlett, who has always been a major character, had her position in the team upgraded to second in command after Duke. Like Duke, she has been aged younger for the series though their youth may be attributed to the fact that the artwork is done in an anime style. She is however still the team's counterintelligence specialist. Tunnel Rat’s appearance and personality varied greatly from his appearance in A Real American Hero series. Here, he is a bug-eating, unorthodox infiltration and demolitions expert. Heavy Duty seems to have retained his personality from Spy Troops and Valor vs. Venom, serving as the team's weapons expert. Added to the team is tracker, Spirit Iron-Knife, and his falcon Billy, who retains his strong and shamanist personality, as well as the team sniper and transportation specialist Long Range. Hi-Tech serves as the team's technician, mechanic, etc. Jinx, Kamakura and Snake-Eyes function as the team's ninja unit. Snake-Eyes has remained the silent deadly ninja commando with Jinx and Kamakura as his students. Hawk was last seen in a healthy state at the end of Valor vs. Venom but his appearance in Sigma 6 indicates otherwise. He is seen in a hospital where Duke visited him. In the start of Season 2, Lt. Stone (an apparent old friend of Duke's) arrives and joins the team under orders and provides them with a new seafaring base as well as his personal attack copter, the Dragonhawk, which will also be used as a drop ship for the team's vehicles that can be carried by the Dragonhawk, like the Ninja Hovercycle, the Night Ranger Quad and the V.A.M.P.. Along with Stone is the soldier Firefly (who betrays the team and captures all but Duke and Hi-Tech in season 2 episode 7 "Revelations").

The changes are not limited to the Joe Team. Cobra Commander had his appearance greatly overhauled and, likewise, his personality. No longer comical, he is now a more deadly adversary, closer to his standard portrayal in the comics, however he has retained his cartoon counterpart's love of grandiose schemes. Destro is now more clearly aligned with Cobra and together with the Commander and the Baroness, they truly form the Cobra Triumvirate. Meanwhile, Overkill is upgraded from a lowly lab assistant to a scheming cybernetic chief scientist who is stuck inside a giant glass tube. Zartan remains Cobra's master of disguise, however his shape shifting and stealth abilities are due to his suit rather than skill and genetic enhancements as in A Real American Hero. The Dreadnoks are now Torch, Buzzer and Machete, a new character. Storm Shadow serves as Cobra's ninja, however seems more inclined to work with Cobra B.A.T.s, leading the Ninja B.A.T.s into battle. This differs from his original portrayal in Real American Hero as he's always had more faith in a well trained human as opposed to machines. Though the series is supposed to continue from Valor vs. Venom, in episode 2 "Escape", Cobra Commander says to Overkill that all his troops should be welcoming him, implying that Overkill was the only absent COBRA member. That claim ignores the presence of characters such as Dr. Mindbender or Slice in Valor vs. Venom.

Sigma 6 also has a recurring man vs. machine theme. Cobra’s forces are often seen to be primarily composed of the Battle Android Troopers or B.A.T.s, while the members of the Cobra Triumvirate all possess some form of cybernetic enhancement or enhanced armored suits, with normal troopers wearing full armored uniforms."

G.I. Joe Starts Filming Today
Source: The Associated Press
February 11, 2008

In an article talking about Hasbro's fourth quarter results, it was revealed that G.I. Joe starts shooting today:

Two Hasbro-related live-action movies are scheduled to be released in 2009 — Transformers 2 and G.I. Joe, based on the Hasbro action figure starts shooting Monday, Verrecchia said. Despite a Hollywood writers strike, there were no delays in the movies' production schedules, he said.

Paramount has scheduled an August 7, 2009 release date for the Stephen Sommers-directed action-adventure written by Stuart Beattie. Dennis Quaid, Channing Tatum, Sienna Miller, Ray Park, Rachel Nichols, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Said Taghmaoui, Marlon Wayans, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Arnold Vosloo and David Murray star.

We've heard about the casting via various sources, but has there been an official announcing of the cast yet?

The only thing I can think of that hasn't been confirmed as of yet is who Joseph Gordon-Levitt is playing, if he's playing anybody at all. I guess with filming beginning today, we'll soon find out what's official and what's not.

We haven't heard who JGL is playing, and we haven't heard who's been cast as Cobra Commander.

...it's pretty much a no brainer guys, even if we wish it were not true.

This version of Hamlet is the best one.

so there's going to be a couple of love stories in the movie with baroness and scarlet(not together)? since ray park is playing snake eyes, i really don't see the comic romance between snake and scarlet happening. park is just there for fights and no subtext right?
