God of War Live Action Movie

I mean, did you guys really expect them to take this seriously? They don't respect video games enough to give adaptations extraordinary directors, or even decent scripts. I mean seriously, has there ever been a video game adaptation that wasn't crap? I mean, at best they've been okay, but mostly, it's all been crap. I mean, if they didn't give a s**t on Silent Hill, or Resident evil, what makes you think God of War will be any different?

My expectations are low. I hope I will be pleasantly surprised but I wouldn't put any money on it being any better than the rest.

im gonna hold out some hope. i mean there has been quite a buzz surrounding video game adaptations. Gears of War, Bioshock etc. Maybe the tide is finally turning and one of these movies can be the turning point in how people view games becoming movies. It happened with comics the next step is games......i hope

Silent Hill was a pretty decent adaptation in my opinion. Perfect? No. Great? No. But decent? Yes. It was a very well made film that captured the atmospheric vibe of Silent Hill perfectly. I just think they tried to make it a bit too complicated and added in changes that wasn't needed. If they removed a lot of the subplots with the little girl and her mother, it would've been a much better film.

But as a whole I still liked Silent Hill. I thought the creator of God of War would take care of it and wouldn't allow hacks to direct it. I could picture a director like James Cameron, Peter Jackson, or Ridley Scott would be the ideal choice for me in terms of capturing God of War.

Yep, when the best thing you can say about this piece of news is "hey, at least it's a step up from Uwe Boll Paul WS Anderson", you know the situation of video game adaptation niche is sad.

Then again, here's hoping Prince of Persia can change that. That does have some pretty good talent backing it, main-character-miscating notwithstanding.

I think they chose the wrong characters for this movie,and some of the casting seems off (Christie).I'm just jumping the gun here,and saying it probably won't be good imo.Hopefully I'm proven wrong,but I doubt it.

Well I don't hater Ratner. I enjoy the Rush Hour movies, but I don't think he's a good choice for a movie that would need huge cg like this one. I still don't understand why they won't hire the guy who created the game to direct? The idea of GoW started out as a movie pitch by him in the first place.


Well at least PoP sounds like it's going to be the spider-man of video game movies. Maybe this can be it's x-men, when Mortal Kombat was the Blade.

Gears and God are my 2 fav games. I was really looking forward to this being a great movie and not another video game popcorn flick. And listening to Jaffe talk about Brat making entertainment movies has me nervous. Sure I want to be entertained, but not in the popcorn flick manner. I just hope that the producers keep a tight leash on him and make sure he brings out the depth of the story and not just the action.

This will all depend on the actors. If they get an intense actor who can do angry bad ass and a great supporting cast then this could all work out.

There must be a reason they picked the Rat, right? It's not like he was the only one available. Maybe he has a great vision of what he wants the movie to look like. But he never got the chance to do something that could be epic. I just keep asking myself why him. Looking at his past movies I can't figure it out unless the producers want a popcorn flick & I just can't see that. I don't know.

Hopefully he's a fan of the game too.

I saw a couple of pics from the Tekken movie, it doesn't look bad at all. Honestly, I didn't see any problems with any of the casting choices that were made, alot of the actors/actresses resemble the video game counterpart. I have a feeling that the film may be good.

It could have been a script problem. Cuz Rush 1 was good. Jaffe seemed to like the GOW script. So hopefully he'll stick to it since I doubt they gave him the leeway to veer too far away.

This better be rated R. If Rat turns this into a PG film, I'll be pissed off.

Exactly. I can't imagine Brett making anything as epic or as imaginative as God of War. I fear that Brett will dumb down GOW for those who aren't familiar with the games and will make it shorter for the ADD crowd.

Like the videos I provided, when I think of GOW I don't think of Ratner.

When I think of God of War I want to see epic images, an epic storyline, imaginative visuals and storytelling, and I want to see brutal vicious battles that showcase Kratos in the correct light. I don't want to see a half-ass attempt from him in hopes of pleasing the studio, pleasing the casual audience, and so forth. GOW needs to be EXACTLY like the games or else it'll fail.

I will definitely not watch God of War with Ratner directing it.
